  1. Ellace Balcony Bra (CK4401)

I've dilly dallied and delayed putting up my review for this bra, but as it's one of my current favourite bras, it is the only one that I had not added pics to or reviewed.

I got this bra in from lcl0706 who I'm friends with on Facebook with. She's much more experienced in bra fitting and shapes and such, and has been helping me with my shape and fits for a little bit now. When she put her listings up, she asked me if I was interested in it before she put it up because she thought it would be a good shape for ... me, given our similar shapes and sizes. I waffled on it for a bit, at first over the colour and then concerned that it might not fit. This is the kind of friend that she is...she sat with me, via messenger, and stepped me through measuring my current favourite and best fitting bras. Once we finished, she determined that it had a strong chance of fitting...that I *might* need a 30F and that she would toss in an extender with the bra just in case that it was too tight for me in the band. She even sent the extender attached, as I've never used one before.

Anyway, I bit the bullet and got it from her and tracked that sucker every freaking day, because I was really excited. And one day, I tracked it and it said it was in Canadian customs, which it had been for many days, and then I randomly decided to track it again after work and I saw it had been delivered! YASSSS!!! I was so excited that I put it on as soon as I got home instead of making dinner. šŸ˜‚

    On to the fit...

My shape, as best we have determined, is narrow with average to short roots (possibly thin and tall roots but with most of the tissue being lower, and thus, still functionally short ish), even to FOB, center full, and pendulous with soft tissue. So as best I know, I need something with enough projection at the wire that's not too wide.

When I saw the bra, I no longer had any concerns about the crimson colour. It's exceptionally pretty (but also exceptionally hard to match underwear to in terms of colour) and I think that it's a nice match for my skin tone. It's got a good balance of warm and cool red tones. The extender that was sent is bright red, so not an exact match, but very kind to add one in a similar colour. The material is really light and soft, and the detail of the stretch lace is quite pretty. I'm fairly ambivalent about the strip of elastic at the bottom. I think that it looks alright and hasn't been problematic for me so far. When I tried on the bra and took pics and sent to my best friend, she was in awe and said it looked like it was made for me. That aside, there are a few minor fit issues with the bra that aren't hugely noticeable to the untrained eye or under cloths.

Although I can do up the band on the loosest hook setting, it's not my ideal comfort setting. After wearing it for a while, I start to get pain behind the gore at my sternum. I have the same thing happen with my 30E Lepel Lilly. I expect that it's a sign the band is too tight, so I'm currently using the extender and it fits more comfortably, so I feel like it would be better to have a 32 band in this. I'm told it is one of the snugger CK bands. I'm getting a slight bit of in cup quadding and more when I've really extended my swoop and scoop and done it more aggressively like I have been lately since I got my Freya Fancies and Kiyoko. If it was not for the stretch lace, I'd probably have more quadding. One thing I've noticed is that the stretch lace sort of bubbles and doesn't lay smoothly over my smaller breast (in particular) so it does look a little bit funny. I'm not sure if going up the cup size would be better. The fear is that going up with the cup may make the nice rounded shape less so. I think that I'd like to try it again in a 32DD and go from there. I think that the 32DD might have just enough extra depth that the cup issues might be better with it. My only concern about going up with the band is whether or not the wire width and the strap placement will be ok or too wide. I'm quite happy to use the extender but I feel like it's a bandaid and that using it means that I am in the wrong band size. Anyway, I am quite keen to try it ok other sizes and colours.

I'm very thankful to have been given the chance to try this style.

The color is gorgeous on you! So glad you tried this one :-)

    • Love4Pollinators Thanks so much! The colour is much better than I thought. I had been afraid it would be too red, or too pink as one of the pics of it I'd seen. I'm glad I got it. I did find underwear that's a close match, though not exact I'm colour, and some that's complimentary and/or coordinates. I think that it's a pretty good fit...perhaps not 100% perfect, but better than a lot of my current bras, so it's a start. Even though the Fancies would have been ok in a 30E, this is a better fit and I would prefer another one of these to the Fancies.

    • 1

This looks good on you! That colour looks nice on your skin tone. I had the same fit issues with this bra, as you know. In the 30E I got in cup quadding, and in the 30F my smaller side had some loose fabric at the top of the cup. The shape was less rounded in the larger size too. Again... It sucks being between sizes! If you end up ordering a larger band, I would get two cup volumes to compare, and just send one back. If you pay through Paypal they have paid return shipping as long as you sign up for the return shipping thing they have. I'm in Canada and I use it every once in a while when I need to send back bras that aren't ordered through Amazon prime.

This looks great on you. Your review encouraged me to try this in a larger cup size.

And if it fits fine with an extender, wear it. Nobody will notice and it will stretch out anyway so you may even get more lifetime out of it.

    • aboobaccount yay! Iā€™m glad youā€™re going to try yours in a larger cup. I think that will help. As for the extender, I feel sort of the same way. I sometimes feel like the extender creates doubt in my mind as to what size I ought to be starting at. I feel like if Iā€™m using the extender on my two 30 bands, maybe I really do just need a 32 band. But then I think of the 32 bands in the So Free lightly lined balconette (and full cup) and how big and stretchy they are and how Iā€™m able to use the tight hook straight away. My unlined balconette is totally different in the band...itā€™s much snugger. And I tried a Fantasie Rebecca and it was loose, and the Natalie was snug. And the Freya Kiyoko was probably ok to co to a 28 even though I was not able to do the 28 in the Fancies. So I guess that itā€™s really up to the companies, styles, and such. And if I use the 30 and itā€™s tight, and the extender works, Iā€™ll eventually get more use out of the bra. But it does kind of feel like Iā€™m cheating a bit.

Wilderness1 hi! Thanks so much! I sort of feel like I want to try all the sister sizes, lol, because itā€™s almost like each sister size has its own size, and not true sister sizing, based on the measurements here. It looks like the 32DD cup depth is larger than the 30E, when it should be the same, and the same should go for the 30F and 32E. I worry about the shape in the 30F and the straps, wires and cups (widths) in the 32DD. Ultimately, it is probably going to be a price thing. If Iā€™m able to get another 30E in latte or white and pink, and itā€™s significantly cheaper, Iā€™ll stick with the extender. But I think I want to try a 32DD in it next. But yeah, itā€™s hard to be in between cups and band sizes. As for the PayPal thing, it was mentioned in the ABTF fb group in one of my posts. Iā€™ll have to look into it. Is there a cost for that service? Btw, where in Canada are you? Iā€™m west (aka wet) coast.

Thank you everyone for saying such wonderful things. Itā€™s definitely one of my favourite bras and I look forward to getting more.

    • I'm in Alberta, where we've been having an awful winter :(
I think this is the link for paypal return shipping: https://www.paypal.com/ca/webapps/mpp/returnshipping

It's free to join, and I've used it probably a dozen times. When you return something you'll need the receipt from the post office and a picture of the box with the stamps on it. It's pretty easy actually.

    • Thanks Wilderness1 ! Excellent information! You've used it and it's worked for you well? Sending love and hugs from Vancouver Island. :)

    • Yes I've used it quite a few times. I've received return shipping every time I've used it. I think you get up to 30 dollars per return. I'm not sure how many times/year you can use it, but it USED to be 12/year. You'd have to read the terms to confirm the details.

    • Yeah it says $30 up to 12 times a year. Is that $30 USD or CAD? I'm definitely going to look at this for future orders. Right now, my next bra is a listing from here, from the same user I got the Ellace from, so no return options.

    • it's $30.00 Canadian as far as I know, but I've never needed to use that much for a return. I usually just send things back regular post, because it's like $45.00 to send packages back with tracking (internationally). I'll just take the risk instead....

  2. Ellace Balcony Bra (CK4401)

Hereā€™s my initial review of the crimson colour: http://bra.pe/XYSX/

This bra was cheap. Suuuper cheap. So cheap that I opted for the 30E in it because the sister sizes were double or more. Itā€™s perhaps not my perfect size as I have few fit issues with this, and a sister size might be better, but I knew the fit well enough from my other one to be confident about ordering the same size in a different colour.

My shape, in case you donā€™t see the other review... narrow roots that are average to short (or taller but deflated and functionally short) and my tissue is soft and ... malleable, and definitely pendulous, which leans towards full on bottom and center full. I need projection at the wire but only average depth at the apex.

Like my crimson Ellace, the band is pretty snug, and while I can clasp it on the loosest hooks and it feels ok, itā€™s not comfortable for the long term. So I have my trusty extender and typically use it on the middle hook (sometimes the tightest), extending it fully at the end of the day when I am reclining on the couch or against pillows in my bed (as I am now). Stretched band is 28.5ā€and max 29ā€ so definitely small for a 30! Although I think the lower elastic band is aesthetically pleasing, I think itā€™s also what causes the band to run tight and because itā€™s a different stretch from the upper elastic, makes tension between the top and bottom different, and therefore leads to a bit of wrinkling between the straps and wires. The stretch lace seems to lay better than the crimson, and I think my in cup quadding is not as noticeable (which is to say that most people would not notice it on either) but Iā€™m pretty voluminous in the cups, and I definitely quad as I get close to my period. Iā€™m thinking about getting a 32E just for my swelling before my period. Iā€™m not sure if a 32DD is going to have enough extra room. A 30F is likely to be too tight in the band still, unless itā€™s really a cup size issue (cups on the back test is inconclusive) and itā€™s tight because my boobs are fighting for space.

Overall, Iā€™m pretty happy with this one. The latte colour is great against my pale Canadian skin...and as said, maybe not my ideal size, but one thatā€™s good enough since the price was crazy cheap. The pics are from after work, so Iā€™ve got a bit of a reddish line from the bra band I was wearing (probably the crimson Ellace) at the end of the day, and I am not wearing the extender in the pics...just loosest hook and very snug.

Thanks. I love the colour. I'm so happy I got to see the colour on a blog post and here beforehand because it's not a good colour on the Amazon listing. And seriously, it was $18.99 and all the other potential sizes were $40+.

    Didn't fit

I'm totally obsessed with plunge bras at the moment, got an Amazon gift card for Christmas, and this was $18 - thus, the Cabaret came to be. It's being returned so fast I'm not bothering with fancy-pants blog photos or a full write up; I took these in my bathroom on my iPhone and did some quick and messy tattoo editing. It's a fail on me but it's my brabligation to add it to BTB and give you the takeaways. My opinions of pros and cons are all my own and relative to my size and shape, so as always YMMV.

PROS: very short wings (2.6"). ... Shortest I've found to date. All the chafed armpits out there should rejoice - you'll be safe in this bra. Low gore (1.6"). Oodles of immediate projection. Relatively narrow wires (5.1"). Short-root/FOB friendly cups with a closed edge that seems like it would prevent my soft tissue from sliding out of the middle. Firm wires that don't distort on the tightest band setting - could be a con for those with sensitive ribcages. Pretty aesthetics, with the sheer black mesh and barely-pink accents. To be fair, I'm not a fan of the black and hot pink one, just the black-and-blush colorway.

CONS: True to size band - this is actually a pro for most, but a con for me since it wasn't available in a 28F. Oodles of apex projection - again, could be a pro, however this is a bra too projected for me. There's a sentence I never thought I'd say. There's a lot of wrinkling at the apex of this bra. If the cups weren't so closed off I could do a 30DD, but the cup shape is simply a mismatch for my own. Wide gore (1") - will bother the very close set among us, did not bother me since I am slightly splayed. Somewhat scratchy/rough material reminiscent of Cleo by Panache that feels like it would soften with wash and wear.

So in the end, the Cabaret came close but just didn't get it done. I wish it did, and perhaps I could pinch the extra apex material and tack it down, but I have so many well fitting bras that for the price of this one and considering the band alteration it would shortly need, it just isn't worth it. This bra reminds me a lot of the Freya Arabella plunge and I adore the aesthetics of both, but the Arabella stabbed my sternum. All pictures were taken on the tightest band hooks.

I appreciate this review. I'd also need a true 28, but I need tons of apex projection, too. Checked the measurements and 9.5 may be a smidge too deep. Seems more like an F. Maybe I can find something similar with an opaque cup. I'm trying to find an unlined bra and prefer stiffer materials. I haven't looked at CK in a while...

    • 1

I tried this a few months ago and had similar problems. With all the good luck I've had with Ellace and Bardot I was hoping their plunges would be the same, I had similar issues to what you are having with the wrinkling. I thought I had added the bra, but I think it arrived at a time when I was super busy traveling for work and had only a day or two home.

    • letstalkaboutbras it seems like I measured mine quite a bit deeper than others too. I often think I get a bigger number than most people when I measure depth on bras, and I don't know if it's my technique or what. I'm always careful to measure the deepest part of the cup regardless of where that is. It does look like an F on paper, I guess it's possible I got one that runs bigger. That said, the shape is still wrong for me - I know in a size down it would be too closed off for me.

amandafire you entered your bra on here because I remember reading your write up of it too and you having the same problems. Unfortunate, I would love some unlined plunges to have around. I wonder if CK's Dare and Desire (or whatever they were called) are cut the same.

    • 1

I've found their Unlined plunges run 1 cup deep. Although Ellace, Florence, and Bardot are good fits volume-wise, 30G Princess Plunge was enormous. I couldn't find my breast in all the wrinkles ;-)

    • 2

I would hazard a guess the newer plunges & redesigned cups are all going to have this same shape which kinda sucks - I'd like to find one that fits me. I've never considered myself to have anything but very short roots so I'm surprised to find a bra that would cut in on me, hence why I'm more apt to call this "too projected at the apex in my correct size" rather than "too closed off in a size down", an example of which I've never encountered until now!

    • One of our users has had incredible luck with the new plunges (center and immediate projection are excellent), but she is at the opposite side of the range.

    • 3

Love4Pollinators that's me! I love CK plunges because of their apex projection which I really need (everyone loves 3hcs but they just don't work for me due to lack of apex projection). As far as closed edges in CK plunges go, Cabaret is the most closed off, followed by Atomic, followed by the Princess Plunge, which is super open on top.

In my blog review I break down this bra (the white colorway), the black bra in 28F, and the latte bra in 28F. I review all three at the same time. It's a great shape for narrow and short roots that need projection! This has quickly become my favorite unlined bra. Full details on the blog!

Thank you for the review! I'm intrigued... I tried a couple CKs in my early bra fitting days and the fit was just off for me, so I've been reluctant to try again. How do you find the shape (say...in comparison to EMs SM and Cleo's Marcie?)

    • Wilderness1 I find it more rounded than the SM's for sure. SM's were quite minimizing on me. Ellace is almost as round as Marcie, but the fabric isn't as stiff (in my size) so I'd say it's between SM and Marcie on the basketball boobs scale. I do know that starting one cup larger, so 28FF and equivalent sister sizes on up, CK changes the construction to be more supportive - it has wider straps, a 3x3 closure, and possibly stiffer fabric (?). I was surprised at how lightweight the bra is, and I don't think it's quite so lightweight in larger volumes.

    • 1

Okay, well, I may keep my eye out for a sale on this one so I can try it. I haven't tried EM's SM or BM because I've read mixed reviews about what it does for shape so that's good to know. Thanks for the tidbit about shape change on the bra over 28FF sizes.

    • 1

I just bought this bra today at the boutique near me. The black is gorgeous! I ended up taking home the latte because the black colorway was a tiny bit off in the cup size. The red and latte colorways fit great and had good projection, as you described. Thanks for the review!

If the Easter bunny were in the market for a cute bra, this would be it. I was pleasantly surprised by how adorable this bra was in person. In the powder blue colorway, Florence is definitely my pastel pick for Easter. šŸ’™šŸ£šŸ° Sadly, I have the same fit issues with Florence as I do with all Curvy Kate balconies: uneven band tension, gaping at the side of the cup/underarm area, tight at the apex, yet not able to fill the top lace. I have the same problems with this bra.

    • 1

I tried to fit into Florence with 5 different sizes. Didn't work. Like you and cupandahalf, similar fit issues.

    • 1

      cupandahalf Love4Pollinators So frustrating :(

    • 1

I think the band fits folks with a tapered back best. Ellace does that too to me. I think I would have to be very FOT or have tall roots to fit this one.

    • 2

cupandahalf Ellace was the worst culprit for me, even worse than Florence, iirc.

    • 2

cupandahalf it's funny you say that. I tried this bra (different color) and I love it. (I hve tall roots, and I'm FOT- but I dn't think I'm VFOT)

    • 2

I am not always sure about fit due to my unevenness, but this very same bra seems a decent fit for me in 30F atm. I used to think I was FOB, but probably more even with tall roots. http://bra.pe/XWMh/

    • erispe in the 2nd pic, your roots look like they're short, maybe average, imo. Is it possible that you have average height roots, with FOT breasts? (That's how it appears to me)

    • 3

It is entirely possible Prettyncharmeuse. Truth to be told, this is still confusing for me. Without a bra my teardrop shaped soft pendulous breasts look FOB and I'd say they're kinda low set, too. But when wearing a bra they mostly just flow into the cups and take up the cups' shape. They are chameleon boobs I tell you. :) Oh, and they give a FOT impression when the pics are made with a flash, but not with normal light. If a bra is a tiny bit roomy, they can look FOB, but can also be pushed up almost to my collarbone. So, really I haven't the foggiest what they are - may fit into various categories, so I can pull off quite a few types of bras. I can never, however, wear strapless or non-wired soft bras without a disastrous outcome. I just may have a very average shape in more ways than one...

    • 3

erispe Boob twins... I swear, you are describing mine perfectly.

    • letstalkaboutbras Im new to this, and I JUST found this post too late. Lol. This is super upsetting. So, I just bought these bras on Amazon and I wear a 32H (in panache Esme--first bra that fits after U.K. resizing, which fits beautifully!) And because they were on sale, I ordered a 30HH (thinking mesh bras stretch out) but now, don't even know if this band will stretch to fit me since the materials are non stretchy. Is the BAND stretchy, or should I have gone with the 32 band? Please help someone? Thanks.

    • Sugarbaby416 for me the band ran true to size or a little tight, but you might find it ok. If you'reā€‹ new to this, you can get yourself some cheap bra extenders to test the fit. At least Amazon has easy returns :) All brands do scaling above G differently, so your experience might be totally different from mine. I hope it works out for you. Even if it doesn't, be sure to measure and add fit info to your profile for all the bras you try. It helps so much when trying to pick the right size in different styles and brands in the future.

    • letstalkaboutbras Thank you so much for the reply and the tips. Unfortunately, I just cancelled the order, but they have a 32HH on sale, despite my regular Panache size. If I'm brave, I might go for it. Wish me luck! XD

    Didn't fit

I tried a few Curvy Kate balcony bras and Belle was my favorite because it's such a pretty bra. I just love the black embroidery and the semi-sheer blush pink. The fit was close, but unfortunately not quite right. The cup was too tight at the apex, but the lace on top wrinkled where I couldn't quite fill it and I got epic in-cup quad boob. It's based on the Bardot cut which is known as projected and good for short roots. So if Bardot works for you (and even Florence), then Belle will fit similarly. Those with sensitive skin might not love the scratchy mesh. Personally, I need a cup that is even more projected at the apex and more friendly to very soft tissue. CK bands also seem to be incompatible with my ribcage and I get a weird gaping at the sides. That will be more visible in my later CK reviews to come. Nooo scratchy lace! I almost bought one of these not too long ago, glad I didn't.

    • Thank you for this review. Despite my affinity for the blue model, I will avoid the scratchy material.

    • 2

I really wish CK would work on its fabric quality/feel. I love the fit but hate the fabric all the time.

    • 3

cupandahalf Love4Pollinators triumphof CK Florence has softer materials, as does Ellace. Apart from the lace on top, I didn't find their fits radically different. And their bras with the "laminated" cups are gentler on my skin. I still hope to find one that fits me one day :(

I am planning on reviewing Florence, too... maybe I should do it next. I was going to break it up with another brand in between :)

    • 1

Oh also, I only tried it on and never washed it, so I can't say if it will soften over time.

    • letstalkaboutbras I've got a Florence sitting in my pile of to-be-returned bras. I agree about the fabric, though, it's pretty soft.

    • letstalkaboutbras I have a Florence and an Ellace. I think the Ellace is great, but the mesh fabric is a little scratchy under the pits for me. Florence's lace itches me. I guess I just have sensitive skin. I can't stand the mesh on the band in my IMF either, which is why I prefer Ellace. I've sewed soft fold over elastic on a lot of bra bands.

    • cupandahalf Florence didn't work for me either (worse than Belle in fact for weird band gaping) and I wasn't in love with the material, but then I put Belle on and was like, well... that's worse, lol. I love the look of Ellace, only I ordered the wrong size and then gave up on it.

    • 1

Florence fit me well when I was smaller, but now that I'm a cup or two larger sizing up it became too tall for my tiny little roots. Sob.

My motivation to lose weight is seriously to fit into the turquoise Florence again, despite the itchy lace. I have the knickers to match! I must wear it this summer!

    • 2

cupandahalf I know what you mean! Since I lost weight and dropped 2-3 cup sizes, everything has changed and it's motivation for me to keep the weight off. Cups that aren't up to my collarbones for once...

    • 2

THANK YOU for this discussion at the end, cupandahalf and letstalkaboutbras ! It's not just me! I went down to a 30D after some weight loss a year or two ago and it was amazing how much better most bras fit since they were shorter. Now I'm back up to bordering 30DD/30E, and it's crazy how much *bigger* the cups are in all dimensions, I have to pay a lot more attention to cup height before buying. My boobs got bigger, but they sure didn't get that much taller..

  7. Tease Me Padded Bra (SG2001)

What I like most about this bra is the way it looks. I bought the lemon and black coloured one and the yellow colour is really muted. I also love the lace and ribbon on the tops of the cups.

Fit wise, it's ok. For some reason I get some gaping at the top of the cup on my bigger breast, but on the other side it sits fine, otherwise the cups fit great. One thing to note is that the cups themselves are a little itchy, I don't know if washing them will change that so I will update once I do so.

Generally, I ... think I prefer unpadded bras (when I say this bra is padded, I mean the cups are made of foam. This is not a push up bra).

The band itself is a bit stretchy, but not too stretchy. When I stretch the band while I'm wearing it, it doesn't stretch too too far. I probably could go down a band size, but I'm not sure if a 28 would be too small. I generally prefer a tighter band anyway so your mileage may vary.

One last thing I'd like to mention is wearability of this bra. As much as I like the frills, I have maybe one shirt I can wear it under. I think this bra would work best with shirts that don't have any stretch in them like a button down cotton shirt, otherwise the bumpy lace will show.

So, overall, this bra is super cute, but in my opinion has limited wearability.

Update: I haven't worn this bra much, therefore I haven't washed it that much either. So to update, it's still a bit itchy.

This band runs a little tight (which is good for me as I usually prefer a 28 band). This bra is surprisingly comfortable and supportive for such an insubstantial looking bra. I am not convinced that it would be especially supportive for much larger breasts but I find it super comfortable. I was expecting to find the center gore too narrow and high but I love this!

    Didn't fit

I have always been curious about this strapless bra, and I also need one recently after purchasing a really cute off-shoulder sweater. This bra seems to be available for usually Ā£34-35 on several online retailers, but was on sale on Asos so I only paid about $27 for it, and only had to buy an extra dress (about $10) to enjoy free shipping. I had done a lot of research on this bra and while most reviews said that it's narrow, there was different opinion regarding its projection level and top fullness friendliness.

I will first comment on the appearance. I'm probably biased because I hate beige bras with ... a passion, lol. I really wanted a white (instead of black) strapless bra to wear under lighter clothes but only this color comes in 30E on Asos. Not surprisingly, I hate the appearance of this bra. It also looks like a half-finished piece because there is no extra fabric on top of the foam seamed cups. Still, I guess if this fits I would've kept it because a strapless bra is supposed to work more than look good.

My usual size is 28F(UK) and I've ordered a 30E because my previous experience with the Freya Deco Strapless was that the band was incredibly tight. The band does run snug on this one, at 29" stretched, so a 28 would be too tight on me.

My shape is projected, fuller on top and centre with tall and narrow roots, extremely close and low set with self-supporting and soft tissue. The first thing I noticed when putting on this bra was the extreme pain at the top of the wires under my armpit. I have narrow roots and have never had discomfort at this part of the wire, but this bra does this on me, probably because the wires are too narrow, even for my narrow roots. I also seem to be overflowing and gaping at the same time - when I put my arms down I have spillage near my armpits on both sides, but the cups gaps on my larger boob. I guess this means the cups are too shallow, especially for my larger side? I expected it to cut into my tall roots, but surprisingly the cups are open on top enough to contain my top fullness. The gore is was too high and wide for my centre-full and close-set breasts, so it creates a lot of discomfort and smooshes the centre of my breasts flat. So basically, nothing fits, my boobs aren't supported, and I will return this bra (thanks Asos for free returns!)

To conclude, I think this bra is moderately projected, but probably have more projection at the apex than near the wires. The wires are extremely narrow and the cups are pretty tall and open on top. The band is snug so consider sizing up.

Whew, this bra looked SO much better in the promo pics... It looks unfinished for sure and that stitching looks so bulky. Can't believe I was thinking about buying it as a T-shirt bra without looking up the photos on BTB.
I hope you'll find a better strapless bra soon!

    • Orange_Kate So I'm not that biased about the appearance just because I hate beige! Haha. I believe there is some boning along the seam of the cups to make it more projected than an average strapless bra. So it will definitely show under a T-Shirt. I'm considering a EM Mleczny Strapless in 70DD. Or I might just go purchase a 34D from Aerie and shorten the band myself!

My shape is low set, soft, slightly pendulous, and narrow and short rooted.

I got the blue colourway, and it's a really gorgeous colour. There is some pretty lace that is nicely laid out on the cups and on the sides of the band, and there is a lighter blue strip on the lower band that compliments the navy nicely. The band feels pretty 'true to size' for me, not too stretchy, and the straps adjust long enough on my tall frame. There is stretch lace along the upper cup edge, and on the inside of the lace, there is a thin elastic lining along the upper edge of ... the lace cup. This lace elastic bit cuts in a bit on my larger side. I could probably get away with it, especially since it fits my smaller side, but I'm a bit self-conscious of how it looks.... It makes it looks like I'm getting in cup quadding and bubbling on top. I'm on the fence as to weather or not I'm keeping this bra. I sized down in this bra since some of my unlined 30Fs have slight gaping. I have a feeling I'm in between a 30E and 30F though.

The bra is very comfortable overall, and I could probably wear it all day without any discomfort. It's lightweight and would be nice for summer. The material is soft and non-irritating. The shape it provides is not as round a cleo marcie but still nice (somewhat more natural looking on me anyway).

I do get some side boob/fat rolls that I'm not too fond of. I'm not sure if it's because the wings are too short for me, or if it's because I need a bit bigger size. It could also just be the way my body is these days since I'm a bit out of shape, lol....

Overall this is a lovely bra that would be ideal if the size was right.

    • I sometimes find that sort of bulginess smooths out after a few wears and washes. Is it visible through clothing?

    • dbmamaz I was wearing a sweater when I tried it out, so I'm not sure, but it probably wouldn't show too much. I haven't decided if I like it enough to keep it or not. It looks better in pictures than I felt it looked like in real life. We'll see... it's either I keep this one that's a touch too small on one side, or a 30F that's too big on the other.

    • I just got this one last week in the crimson colour (30E also) from a user here whoā€™s also a friend. I have the exact same bubble issues from the lace that you described. But I donā€™t think itā€™s visible underneath my clothes. For me, I feel like the band is a bit too snug. I can do it up on the loosest hook, but it will hurt behind the gore after a while. Iā€™m wearing it with an extender on the middle hook and itā€™s comfortable, so I think I might need this one in a 32 band. And cup wise, I also have a tiny bit of in cup quadding but feel like I might have gapping if I size up. I think that we might be boob twins. I feel like you described my shape, though I think I might be more pendulous?

    • 1

I think this bra looks like a great fit on you. And, I assure you, we always look worse in photos (that aren't a professional photo shoot) than we do in real life.
Perhaps you should post the 30F and we could help you choose which one to pick? I think Ellace is supposed to be a lower coverage bra any how. Seriously, if your comfortable KEEP it! It's so hard to get a beautiful bra and a great shape like this that is also really comfortable.

    • Gorgeous!!

One of our users has tightened the upper panel successfully. This creates more tension and eliminates the bubble. I haven't tried this myself.

    • It looks perfect on you. I wouldnā€™t even have noticed the quadding on your larger side if you didn't mention it.

I just ordered the exact same bra in a 28F.

    • 1

Thanks everyone. It is definitely a pretty bra, so I may just keep it despite the minor fit issues.

Calluna yes we do sound like boob twins. Interesting that you had the same result with your bra. I think I get the bubbling because of my soft tissue. I also hate being between sizes, don't you?

LeProfessor I don't actually have a 30F right now to try. This one took 3 weeks to get here from Belle Lingerie, so I probably won't be able to try a 30F before having to decide if I return this 30E or not.

Love4Pollinators that sounds interesting, I may have to pin it to see if I can achieve that same result before attempting to sew it.

aboobaccount thanks. Hope yours fits you also!

    • LeProfessor you inspired me to get a 30F from amazon prime so I can compare the fit. If the 30F fits then I can return my 30E or visa versa :)

    • Wilderness1 yeah I think that it's a soft tissue thing as a girl I'm in ABTF on fb has the same issues. I'm curious about the the 30F for you. I'm thinking about trying the 30F and 32DD. I think that the 32 band will be more comfortable.

    • Calluna I'll post some pictures once I get the 30F in (unless it's an obvious fail, then I may just return it quietly, lol). My comfortable underbust is closer to 27.5-28", so I can see a 32 being more comfortable for you. The stretched length of this 30 band was around 29" before the wires started to distort, so a 32 probably stretches to around 30.5-31" I'm guessing.

    • I know that I have been measured in a local boutique at 28-29" and the one sales person insisted that I had to be in a 28 band for a technical fit. Ugh. I mean, I did get it on (Panache Envy) but holy hell it was tight! And every 30 I tried she said that it was too big! I think that I might have to go remeasure the stretched length of this one (Ellace) once I take it off later. I'm still trying to figure out what the bra looks like and feels like when it is properly stretched. I'm still not really seeing when the wires start to distort. Anyway, I think that you're right on that the 32DD of this bra is probably what I need.

    • I did a quick remeasure of my under bust (and over bust) after your comment, admittedly with the Ellace still on, and I got 28.5-29" under bust which maybe it's because the band is snug in the bra and it's pulling me tighter (though the fitters locally measured me 28-29" on/in two other bras) so I'm possibly going to redo my measurements here. I'm wondering if this is different because I was pre-period when I did the initial measurements. Anyway, I suspect that I'm in between both band and cup sizes and it will be dependent on how the bras are sized. Such a pain sometimes. Over bust, in bra again, was 35" which should put me in a 28F UK like the fitter lady locally said that I am. But there's no way unless it's a really loose or generous 28 such as Freya (I have a 28F Fancies Plunge and 30E Kiyoko Half Cup waiting for me in LA for when I am there later this week). If this 30 is fitting more like a 28, then it's definitely too tight and I have to break technical for comfort instead. I look forward for your thoughts on the 30F. Im trying to decide on what size of this one to try next...30F and extender, 32DD or 32E...the latter of which seems to have a significantly deeper cup than the rest. I'm leaning towards the 32DD but I'm not sure her. What colour is the 30F you ordered? Can't wait to see it.

    • Well your new measurements point to a 30 band being a good fit in most bras. Like you said, 28 bands will be too tight unless they're loose. The stretched band in Ellace is about equal to your snug underbust measurement though, so sizing up may be more comfortable... However, your best bet may end up being the 30" with extender, so that you can still wear it once the band stretches out. All depends what you're most comfortable in. I like a good hug from my bands. Just try out an extender with your current bra before deciding. I'm not sure what cup size you should try, sorry. I ordered the cherry (ish) colour. Can't remember what it's officially called. won't be here until Friday though.

I saw this beauty as a sleepwear quite long time ago and thought - Thats really nice looking bra! but then i remembered that Ive tried soft CK very long tme ago and decided that probably it will give me crappy look so I passed. Recently, ive noticed that there are more and more positive reviews about CK and I decided to give a go a couple of older styles as my shape changed for better since im wearing better bras.
Ive got this one in 30e and im really happy!
I love the colours - berry and copper - looks mature and sexy
The band is 30, but feels ... nice and snug without extender - although its made of 1 layer of mesh so probably it will stretch easier than other bras.
Strap placement - i give it 4.5/5 as its nearly perfect! and straps are fully adjustable
The shape of cups is almost as round as my Cleos, its see through and the vertical seams are on my nipples so they shouldn't show up under thin shirt.
Wires are ok, could be little more narrow, but also theyre much shorter than the channells so im getting little empty space and wrinkling on my smaller breast but overall it feels okay.

Wonderful! Like you, I'm just now discovering the newer CK bras. I'm impressed. There may be 7 models headed my way: they are incredibly comfortable. If they fit, my bra search will be over ;-) ;-)

  12. Ella Balcony Bra (CK1301)

I bought this bra in navy. I love the contrasting yellow and orange embroidery, and I also like the embroidery on the cups. The bow detailing is really pretty as well. The cups are made of mesh, and the bottom half has lining on the inside.

In terms of fit, before I even fastened the bra, I knew the cups were too narrow. Once the bra is fastened, the cups do stretch so I was able to fill up the cups no problem. The band felt fine, it was nice and snug but not tight.

Overall, the bra is gorgeous and it fit great. The problem is with the wires; they were poking me pretty badly. I could feel the pressure. I think it may be because the wires are trying to pull back to their original shape, but to be honest I'm not really sure.

I own two of these bras, a 28F and a 30E. Neither one fits properly, and they fit very differently. They obviously are slightly different cuts of the bra. The lace trim along the top of the cup is attached differently, creating a much lower coverage cup on the 30E bra than on the 28F, so my nipples always end up poking up out of the cup. The gore digs in on both of them, and is much higher and more painful on the 28F. Overall, this is a pretty bra, but in both sizes and slightly different cuts I have, it's unwearable.

Gorgeous and comfortable bra with narrow enough wires and shallow enough cups. Amazing fit. I would say the fit most closely resembles that of the Curvy Kate Princess, but it is also sized the same as the Gia and the Dreamcatcher. The Gia and the Dreamcatcher have somewhat more projected cups than the Portia, however. The Portia would work well on full-on-top or wide-shouldered women. It also works well on me, since I have quite a bit of pectoral muscle. It gives a nice shape under tops, though the ribbon sometimes shows. I also would say that the wire is low under the arms, which is nice for me-- no poking. The only drawback is, like the Dreamcatcher, the fabric is a bit stiff and scratchy at first.

Curvy Kate makes nice padded bras that fit my close together boobs. This one has great narrow and low (plunge) separation. However, this 30E is about a half size too small in the band and cups. It is also a bit pointier in the cups than I prefer. Due to the thick padding, I'm wondering if the tips of the cups are empty from the pointiness!
Also, these straps don't adjust long enough (by a little). If you have problems with straps, watch out.
I should probably just go back to the Curvy Kate Daily Boost, as that one didn't have the pointy shape or slightly undersized 30E.

    • So for my own education, because I have a lot of trouble telling by the look if something fits.

Is the straps not shorting enough what causes the gap at the top of the cup? Because if it was an unlined bra I'd say the cups are too big.
Lined cups confuse me though, when I look at them the indicators of fit seem different then unlined.

What a pretty bra! I have this in Teal/Gold and pictures don't really do it justice! The whole bra is made of sheer mesh with gold details and ribbons! I got this in 30E as it was on sale and I was wondering if 30E would feel more comfortable than 28F. I guess 28F would be a better fit for me as the band is slightly loose. It doesn't feel looser than a Freya 28 band though!

The centre gore digs in slightly, even more than my 28F Curvy Kate Emily (CK5001) that felt quite comfortable even with a tighter band. I have bent the ... wires and now they conform to my shape and doesn't hurt.

The ribbons at the top of the cups also seem to dig in a little giving a slight quad boob even though there was some space at the tops of the cups. Going down a cup size meant the wires were sitting on my breast tissue and I got quadboobs.

I would keep this bra though. Despite some minor issues, it's still not a bad fit.

Note: Fit is set for when bra is hooked on tightest setting and with 'altered' underwires.

This bra feels... weird. The band is quite tight for a 30, compared with the Ellace. I have significant quadding because the cup is obviously too small, but at the same time there is a lot of wrinkling. I think this may have to do with the fabric and/or construction. The wire seems too short for the wire channel, there is about 3cm of wire channel on each side that does not have wire inside of it. If I leave the extra fabric on the gore side of the cups (i.e. the wire reaches all the way up in the channel on the armpit side), the gore tacks only up to where the wire reaches, then the rest just floats. If I move it to the other side, I get weird armpit fat shapes.
