I bought this off Bratabase. It's too shallow for me and squishes my boobs. Here are the alterations that the previous owner made.
- straps taken off, cup shortened in the sides accordingly, straps re-attached, I also tightened the satin ribbon and cups are now a bit more close on top. cup depth 23 cm (9.1 inch). - band shortened: I removed the hooks + eyes-parts, cut fabric off and re-attached them. band length unstretched 57cm (22.4 inch), stretched 82 cm (32.3 inch).
With the bra come matching briefs, UK size 14. Please note the colour is not exactly the same as in the bra! The bra is more deep wine red than the briefs, but the colour difference in small.
This bra needs only one minor alteration. I need to reattach the straps a little more to the center, and I think that solves the gapping of cups. The band is definitely bigger than in my other CK bras. It is fine when in the smallest hooks for NOW, so I would need a tighter one. EDIT1. The band is very stretchy, so I altered it by sewing an extra elastic. I can now wear the bra but in the tightest hooks. I would normally need a 28 band, so 28 or even 26 would be needed for me in this model. EDIT2. Did a proper and permanent alteration to the band.
It has very small amounts of gaping, is slightly too separate for my breasts, and sometimes digs into my sternum when I bend over...but overall, not bad. nice narrow gore.
This is probably my favorite bra ever. Back before I got pregnant, my boobs were too small to fit into Curvy Kate's size range (or at least I thought they were, I was definitely wearing the wrong size back then!) I had seen this bra and thought it was the prettiest bra I'd ever seen, and I wanted it badly.
When I got pregnant, my boobs got bigger, but I was still wearing the wrong size. I'd known since I was 14 that I was wearing the wrong size and that my underwires were resting on my breasts, but I didn't think there were bras that came in ...a size that actually fit me, so I never sought them out. Then I started breastfeeding and it became vitally important to find underwires that did not rest on my breast tissue (otherwise you get mastitis, an infection of the milk ducts inside your breast). That's when I finally discovered that I was in the D+ range and started finding bras that at least fit a little better.
As soon as I found out that I could fit into their size range, I jumped on buying a Fleurty. At that point it was discontinued, so it was a bit of a pain to find, but I had to have my dream bra! Fortunately, once it arrived, Fleurty and I were meant for each other. The size was right, the wires were wide enough (which is next to impossible for me to find), the cut was appropriate for my shape...it all just worked out for me.
Ok, so most of that isn't a an actual review of the bra, but I thought I should give a bit of a disclaimer about how I'm pretty biased when it comes to this bra. Anyway, actual review-y stuff!
The wires are not just wide, they're very wide, which is great for me, but not great for everyone. It's a balconette shape, which means the wires in the center gore come up high, which works fine for me, but again, is not for everyone. Not only is it a balconette shape, but it's sort of unusual in that it's a very tall balconette. The other bras in the Curvy Kate Showgirl range, such as the very popular Curvy Kate Tease Me [showgirl Collection] (SG2001) are a similar cut but the cups on the Tease Me are much shorter. Those are way more popular than Fleurty ever was, but the cups are too short for me and do not cover my nipples, so Fleurty's taller cups are perfect as far as I'm concerned. If you have breasts that have all their fullness in the bottom and no fullness on top, Fleurty will probably be too tall for you.
A lot of the Showgirl models had problems with bands either being too big or too small, but Fleurty seems pretty appropriately sized. The straps are a bit on the wider side, which I find more comfortable than the thinner straps that you find on Cleo bras, for example. My only real complaint about this bra is that the straps are slightly too widely spaced for me, but that's a chronic problem for me.
This is about the white-pink bra!! ( I also have blue and red).
The bra is too small for me in the cups. I deliberately ordered it in this size, because I had issues with bigger cups as well, but but. Well, My nipples don´t stay in the cups and I quadboob, plus the wires are too narrow for me.
I usually wear 28F (Panache), and in this 30DD the band is too big for me. I altered it "down" by sewing extra elastics to the band, I took a picture of it (the extra elastics are also white and they do blend in very well so you have to ...look carefully!). EDIT. I did a permanent alteration, cut fabric out and re-attached the hooks + eyes. The labels are now gone because of that.
Straps are soft and comfortable and they are fully adjustable. I do like the appearance of this bra, that´s why I keep ordering it in all possible sizes... I want it to work for me!!
(Note that the band length varies with colour!!! Un-altered and non-stretched band: - blue bra 59 cm (EDIT. the blue bra is overall a little smaller than the red and pink) - red bra 62cm - white/pink bra 63 cm!!! )
I normally need 28 band and F/FF cup, so I ordered the sister size because of availability. I altered the band to 28, so this equals 28F.
The bra is turqouise colour with pink details.
It is quite comfortable, no problems at all, except for some quadboobing. It was hard to notice at first, because of the frills. Other than that it is just lovely! Fits my shallow boobs very well.
ETA. The wires are too narrow. They cut in in the sides.
This bra is not the right shape for me, and/or is too big. I fill out the bottom fabric section okay, but the top lace part wrinkles. I could fold under some of the lace and sew it in place and make the bra work if I had wanted, I think. The wires are also strangely short given the length of the wire channels - the wires are a whole inch shorter than the channels, so that if the wires are pushed all the way into the gore they do not go very high on the sides, and if they are pushed all the way to the sides the gore is basically empty fabric.
Oh dear. It's a beautiful bra, but unfortunately it was a total disaster on me. The band is definitely too long on the loosest hook, and not quite short enough on the tightest. I've marked the 'quad-boob' box on the fit check, but it's actually worse than that: the diagonal seam across the middle of the cup digs in an gives me in-cup quad-boob on both sides, and because of the odd shape I get from that, the lace on the top curls back over on itself. I'm not ready to give up on Curvy Kate yet because their bras are so gorgeous (and I do have a black Lottie that doesn't *not* fit), but I'm losing hope fast.
This review is for the black and pink colour. This bra is amazingly comfortable for me and gives an excellent shape. Absolutely no digging in at all. I have also tried it in the raspberry colour, and that one was too big, so I think I must have been very fortunate that the black one fits me so well.
I think the fit difference may be a bit of an issue for Curvy Kate. I ordered two of the exact same bra, same time, received them, and they fit totally differently from each other.
This bra was the wrong shape for me, the material at the top of the cups wrinkled because my breasts didn't fill it out all the way. Really pretty, I wish it had worked out.
Very pretty bra. Seems to work with my shallow ladies. The ruffle on the top could interfere with the lines of some shirts. Love the firm band. Gives great cleavage. Pushes up without discomfort.
I love this bra! It is perfect for my tear drop shape breasts and the fact that my breasts sit low on my chest...it makes me look perky! The only problem I have is the gore...it leaves red marks on my chest wall and I may need the next size up because I get a bad quad boob and I feel it is smashing my breasts down
I bought this bra because I love the colour - it's such a pretty combination. This is the first Curvy Kate bra that I ordered (but the 5th I've received) so I was pretty lost as to which size to order. I read that the band size is a little smaller than in other Curvy Kates, so it's not as necessary to size down in the band, but that the cups were bigger so to size down by 1. This is what I did, hoping for a perfect fit.
Unfortunately, a perfect fit was not had. The cups are extremely small on me. I don't think I have top-heavy ...breasts, so it's not an issue with the bra not accommodating that; it's just that it's waaay to small. The band is a good-ish fit; I'm fastening it on the second hook. Going down a band size would probably make it too small.
The cups do come up higher on this bra than on the Tease Me bra - the Tease Me threatens to show my nipples at the top edge, but the Fleurty doesn't. I have also ordered this bra in a 32E and 32F (these were the only other 2 sizes I could find that might fit) so am hoping that one of them fits!
I also ordered the matching shorts, which are kind of a strange fit. The top elastic is quite a bit tighter than the rest of the short, so while it cuts in, the rest of the short fits a little loose. Read more 149 more words
the colors are pretty and its the first bra I've tried that suggests i could get cleavage. I'd like to try it in a bigger cup size, possibly bigger band size. Its snug but not unbearable though I'm afraid it might get that way over the day. Maybe a plunge with a deeper cup might be better but i dont know what to try. I tried a deco hatty 32 DD and it was too big in the band and slightly small in the cup but it seem tall on the sides.
I love this bra. It's perfect for my shape (shallow) and it's really cute, too. The center gore can wear on my sternum over the course of the day but it's not painful, just a nuisance. I'm also considering bending the underwire a bit to relieve some of the pressure.
All in all, the cups are perfectly shaped for me and the band provides enough support. I could go down a band size, but it's not dire. The shoulder straps are comfortable.
My only complaint would be the decorative nature of the bra making it a somewhat situational choice since it's visible under thin layers of clothing. Not a big deal to me right now in February, but the in the summertime I'll have to plan outfits accordingly.
I like this bra, the feel of it is very silky, and the colours are very nice. My only criticisms are that the band is big and the gore tends to dig into my sternum a bit.
This bra looks very pretty on the Curvy Kate model and even on the lingerie bloggers, but I guess it's completely wrong for me. I can hook on the innermost hooks which means I probably need a 28 band size instead. The mesh portion is kind of open on top which produces some wrinkling unless I perform more scooping and adjusting than usual. The fabric section of the cups is much thicker than the mesh, producing a triangular shape on my full on the bottom breasts. The details, while pretty, will not go with many of my clothes as they show through the clothing. I have since returned this bra.
