How does price compare to quality in your opinion? Regarding bras that is. Yesterday after taking a hot bath I got out of the tub, had a glance at my mom's bra that was newly washed and laying on top of the dryer. Just out of curiousity, I wanted to try the bra on and so I did. Why? Well... ... Because my mom is wearing an awfully incompatible size compared to her body. She has "armpit fat" in every bra that she owns and I was curious as to how the cups would correspond to my boobs. Admittedly, the cups were too big, but I think a cup size down or two would've been great for me The bra I tried on is from www.lindex.se (Swedish website and brand) and the label stated it was a 80DD (36DD). It would've fit me in the cups in a 80D or 80C. I'm guessing the bra cost like 20 British pounds so it's a lot cheaper than what one would have to pay for if they were to buy a bra from Figleaves for example. Although it was way too large for me in every aspect I did feel however that the quality was very good actually. I did a stretch-test using my hands and the band felt positively firm. The cups are foam-lined and they feel rigid yet conformable, an awesome feauture! I'm opening up more and more to the thought of altering all my bras instead of buying them in a size closer to mine (I should be wearing like a 26FF or something).
* Here's the advantages that I see buying too big-banded bras and then altering them down:
- The bands are almost always wider in bigger bands and I need that for my MBT and I like it for comfort.
- I can choose if I want to keep the 2-hook-fastening or replace it for a 3 or 4-hook-fastening, since I have to cut off so much of the band that I'll be ending up on the wide part.
- CHEAPER!
- The possibility to try on the bra before buying it; feeling the textures, seeing the irl colors and judging the cup size and fit since it varies in like EVERY bra.
- Better consistency. I don't know if you've experienced this, but I find that high end stores have better size consistency. They're more often than not true to size according to my experiences and so the guessing game is not as hard.
- Narrower wires. I don't know if this is a particular Swedish bra thing, but I've NEVER experienced the wires to be too wide when I've tried bras, even in the 80DD bra, it was only slightly too wide and that's to expect from a cup size that is 1-2 sizes too big in volume. In British bras almost all wires are waaay too wide for me.
- A much bigger range of lined bras. This is a huge plus for me since I'm not comfortable wearing non-lined bras. I feel very selfconscious about my nipples wearing them. Not that they stick out all the time but if they do I'd have to hide it crossing my arms, which I have done several times, and I simply do not feel comfortable wearing them because of that reason. I don't want to feel limited.
- No return hazzle. Seriously, I hate waiting for a bra to arrive like 2 weeks -_- I have yet to find a bra that actually fit me (too wide wires and weird overall fit) and I don't really wanna know how much I've spent on return costs. Enough already! -_-
- I wear a lot of stretchy, clingy tops and most lined bras here in Sweden don't show through in the same way that British bras do (talking about the seamed bras), even if they have a lace overlay. It might show through a teeny tiny bit but nothing that bothers me. The in-your-face kinda show-through bothers me, but that's usually not the case with the bras over here. *
So back to the original question, how do you think price compares to quality? Do they correspond or does the price not necessarily have a "link" to the quality? The one my mom bought seems to be excellent. It also has plastic boning in the wings near the cup! I feel like I wouldn't need anything stronger than plastic so it'd be fine for me. I'm guessing I'm wondering if one really does have to have the heavy-duty material in order for it to be excellent quality (I'm talking about metal boning, the firmest mesh you could think of etc.). Since I'm not really big-boobed compared to most girls (maybe a teensy bit bustier), I'm not sure I need the most heavy-duty stuff in bras. I dunno, I'm confused. What exactly is good quality, now whilst we're at it?

I personally give the average. Over the past year I have measured from 30" to 29.5" down to 28" and now I'm back to 29". Weight fluctuates constantly and depending on our bodies, our measurements are different time to time. I label my underbust as 29" and go by this when deciding which bands I use.
