Question for everyone
We were wondering why "full" cups are so popular here? Meaning the cups cover the top part of the breast.
Is it because of the lack of selection or there's an advantage wearing full cups that we do not know about?

We couldn't get to all of you here on Bratabase, so we would like to comment on some of the topics on here in this post.
Yes, we are starting to get sizing correct, why are we starting to get better? Because in the beginning, we will be worried we are giving cups too big, but we realized that there's no ... cups too big for this Bratabase, only cups too small. After throwing that thought out the window, we are starting to get the hang of it.
Another post talked about cup structure. Yes cup structure is important, meaning cup support to the weight of the breast is a main part of what we do, but how the support is designed and where it supports the breast is important as well. A lot of bras can stand up by itself when put on a table, but how it is done and how it effects the support of the breast is important as well. You can see that even though our cups stand on the table it doesn't stand like normal bras, this is because we reinforce different parts of the bra cups rather than having the whole bra cup being reinforced.
Still on the topic of cup support, one of our clients posted our full cup bra. This is one of the reasons why we highly recommend the lacie bra than the full cup bra. We understand that this client can't wear our lacie bras so we are doing the best we possibly could to cater to this situation which is sewing little paddings at the bottom to "try" and lift the breast as best as possible given the design limitations of the bra. Breasts are like "Jello", especially for big breasted individuals since tissue is usually looser and less firm (again, we are not saying this is EVERYONE), they will take on the shape of the bra when worn so it is best to find bra designs that are uplifting and supportive at the bottom. Full cups, no matter how they are designed, are just inadequate for this situation.
What we have noticed is, if the bra cups are not reinforced and using thin fabrics (most full cup bras), the bra cups will take on the shape of the breast, but if the cups are reinforced (molded cups or our cups), the breast will take the shape of the cups.
Again, this might not be the case for you but a general observation over the years.

I must ask you however if you've heard of what we call orange in a glass? That happens when the bottom of breast is larger than the cups so that they push the wires and hence the whole bra down.
If the root of the breasts are wider than the bras this will happen even in your bras. It took me about a week for it to happen in your bra but the only way to make it not happen is by stopping scoping and swooping.
I think this is a new issue for you in the larger sizes you are now making and to be fair I think you might have to make new designs if bigger boobs are to be held. This is also especially true if you want the bra to be as projected as possible since the further out from our chest frame our boobs lay the more pressure will be pushed on the bonings in the bottom as well.
On me posture countour cracks. My best answer to why is too much projection compared to too small cups.
But I inherited the bra so it wasn't a fault of your fitting. I just wanted to give a heads up on the issue :)
"cracks", can you explain that in detail?
Thanks
And yes, we are making bigger cups so to prevent this issue.

For the last couple of nights, I've had these spells of pain that last one to two hours. It is like a radiating pain that starts in my breasts and goes down below them a few inches. At first I thought it was a horrible new form of heartburn, but then why would my breasts feel tender at the same ... time? They feel tender, and heavy. It also feels worse when I lay down, especially on my side, and definitely when I lay on my stomach. What seems to help is ibuprofen and massaging my sides and underneath my breasts.
The only reason why I think the pain has something to do with my breasts is that last night I remember that I had the same kind of pain for a couple of days… almost exactly a month ago. And I'm about to start my period. So maybe it has to do with my cycle. It also didn't start until I got new bras and stuff. The first time I had an episode like this, I was wearing a bra, and I thought maybe the band was too tight. However yesterday when it woke me up in the middle of the night, I hadn't been wearing a bra for hours.
If it continues I'll probably get it checked out by my GP, if it continues. It sucks and it's actually kind of scary and disruptive, because I don't know why it's happening and all I can do is wish the pain away until the ibuprofen or whatever kicks in. I'm just wondering if this has happened to anyone else

I would consider that cysts might be the problem. I once had pain similar to what you are describing and when they went in for an ultrasound, the lumps they had found burst and so problem was solved. I'm not saying it's what the problem is, but I do know that a lot of women aren't aware that stats are possible in the breasts. I know I didn't until I had them.
Yes. But I must admit I still have a hard time distinguishing pain from pain. How to know a heartburn from muscle pain or ligament pain from an infection and so on? I don't even know really. When pain is strong it's far more difficult to know what's happening.
Anyhow yes in the last summer when I started wearing 32 bands I got a terrible pain in my boobs from scoping and swooping and it was as if my boobs had some growth pain.
I even thought I was having an infection or something.
Granted my wires in 32J Andorra did poke me terribly and since I now know for sure there's breast tissue there there was no wonder. The pain did go away with 34J Andorra.
I still don't know exactly what happened at that time however but there's been some here reporting migration pain.
Also ovulation pain, not only PMS but also all the ovulation time. Very tender boobs I had.

Well, I finally got a Cappuccino and a Milady (edit: both CHP style) in what should be my size (I don't think the cup size is the problem), but I just don't think Ewa's designs are for me or probably ever will be. I have very wide rooted breasts, with quite convex upper ribs - my root starts under my ... arm about half way (at least) towards my back. I like a nice high wing on my bras to capture re-migrating tissue & make me feel secure, especially when lifting my arms up (I have bigger lat muscles than are 'usual' on most women because I weight lift a lot). AFAIK Ewa's bras all have a lower wing (even if it starts higher it seems to taper down quite a lot) and a narrow wire? So I'm thinking I should just quit the brand before I spend any more money! Pity. I really like the matching undies!

What style did you get? I have equally as wide roots and have been told I wouldn't do well in EM, but the CH style did wonders.
izzylawliet oh sorry, both CHP style (I've edited my post to include this). The wire was cutting my root off a bit. Not super bad, but wouldn't be comfy long term or when PMSing. But the wings were the real deal breaker for me with these.

Does anyone here have experience with altering bras? Specifically the cup depth.
I can direct you to someone who knows a lot about altering and sewing bras, no guarantee she can help you but I hope this helps
http://fussybusty.com/ask-kim/
There's an email on the about page for Kim too I think.
@brasihatelove has a couple posts on this:
http://brasihate.blogspot.ca/2012/08/how-to-make-pointy-bra-round.html
and the same alteration using a sewing machine:
http://brasihate.blogspot.ca/2012/10/the-flirtelle-lucy-cinderella-story.html
I can't tell if I'm losing weight or if I'm migrating tissue back to cup area.
My underbust measurement is now closer to a 34 than a 36.
I think I'm gonna cry.

Why do you feel so sad? =/ Because of needing to buy more bras?
I'm sad because I still haven't found my actual size. And now it's still changing because I'm both losing weight and my boobs keep migrating.
It has been almost 18 months since I found out my size was wrong. I've been working toward finding my correct size, but the size I'm currently wearing doesn't fit any more.
I've finally migrated enough that I probably need an F/FF/G/GG/H cup (depending on UK/US/European sizing). I don't have extra cash to be able to order online & try out sizes; plus, I can't find any in the correct sizes to try on in any regular store. The last time I went to a regular store, I tried on about 25 bras, all different styles and all the smallest band I could find with a DDD/F (US) cup size, and absolutely none of them fit. Plus, all of the bands fit me differently and added to my frustration with the stupid bra industry not even attempting to have consistency across sizing.
My only option right now is Lane Bryant/Cacique, but I know their sizing runs very differently, so even if I find a bra there that fits, I will have NO idea of what size it would be in another brand.
I'm just sad. And frustrated.

I spent a good portion of the day yesterday determined to find more bras that fit. My journey started at Just for You Lingerie in KW. The lady there is super friendly and helpful. Even though she only had a few bras in my size 28DD/E she was more than willing to hand me bras that could fit. She even ... showed me which bras she could order if I wanted to.
I didn't end up picking anything up, but I might return to get the Deco Honey in 28DD if I can't find any online.
Then I traveled 1 hr away to the closest Change Lingerie because I heard that they were having a sale. The store had a small front area, and I didn't see any of the clearance bras until I went to the back to try some bras on. After the fitter had an idea of which bras fit me best, she literally, and I mean quite literally handed me two handfuls of bras to try on. It was amazing to have so many options to try on. She would come in and double check the style and fit, then hand me some more!
I ended up picking up these bras
*60DD - Change Lingerie » Bellis Plunge (1227004403)
*60F - Change Lingerie » Jasmine Balconette Bra
*65E - Change Lingerie » Nina Plunge "chic"
*60E - Change Lingerie » Scarlett Padded (12319040111)
*60DD - Change Lingerie » Scarlett Plunge (12319044012)
5 bras for $50 (two of them were $90 regular)! The quality is amazing and they are all very pretty. I noticed that in my size range there were mostly padded bras, which was nice. Also, the straps are much thinner than my Freyas which makes me excited to wear tank tops!
I cannot believe that Change has bras on for that cheap. The sales lady was ecstatic that I picked up so many bras because they are just trying to get rid of them before inventory in April. I asked her and she said the sale was going on until the end of the month. If you live near a Change Lingerie I definitely recommend going before the end of the month to see if you can find bras! You really do have to try them all on because they fit very different. I ended up getting anything from 28DD to 28F/30E that fit!

I get super nitpicky about things, mostly because I hate the idea of being wrong or inaccurate. For a couple of measurements, we take multiple kinds (e.g. bust while standing, leaning, flat on back and loose, snug, and ultra tight underbust) - so which ones are you supposed to use? When I measured my ribcage as tightly as I could ... humanly get it, I came up with a measurement of 27.5" (69.9 cm). That's what I currently have listed on Bratabase, but I feel like that's sort of misleading, as I am pretty certain I appropriately fit a 30 band (at least in Cleo and the one Fantasie bra I've tried). I dunno how I even got it down that far, 'cause I tried again this morning and couldn't for the life of me get it below 28" (71.1 cm). Maybe I just enjoyed my spring break a little too much, haha. But if someone were to ask, do I give them the average? Or do I just give them a trillion measurements and allow them to come to their own conclusions? I feel like most times I see people providing measurements, they're not really clarifying which ones they're using - is which measurement to use just common knowledge I haven't been let in on?

I personally give the average. Over the past year I have measured from 30" to 29.5" down to 28" and now I'm back to 29". Weight fluctuates constantly and depending on our bodies, our measurements are different time to time. I label my underbust as 29" and go by this when deciding which bands I use.
The 'standard' seems to be one's 'comfortably snug, fully exhaled' underbust measurement. The 'comfortably' part is of course subjective, but it probably isn't 'as tight as you can possibly go without snapping yourself in two'. THAT measurement is reserved for measuring for the likes of Ewa Michalak ;)
But it is totally personal -- whatever you find gives you a reliable starting point (and remember that it's only that, a starting point, and nothing more) for finding fitting bras.
Just as an example: in my case it's my 'fully inhaled' underbust measurement that seems closest to a reliable starting point if I adhere to the +0 fitting method (which oddly enough actually gives me the same result as my 'comfortably snug, fully exhaled' measurement +4), but this has to do with my particular body shape.
Hi.... i am surprized today when my husb told me that he got a courier for me that was expected from

Very happy to hear you're happy with them!! A bit of a pity they are too large, but at least they're close!
ZoNi if the bras did'twork for you, you could list them again to recover your money and have someone else try them to whom they might fit! :)

It often prevents top jiggle. I never had top jiggle before I started scoping and swooping. And I can say for sure without covered top my boobs looks like pudding. Not that top jiggle cannot look quite classy on a decolletage but on a daily basis no.
Maybe I'm alone in this, but I don't like full cup bras at all. I don't like the appearance, and I don't find that they provide good support to my breasts.
My Lacie bra is supposed to be arriving this week and I am very excited for it. I really hope it works on the first try.
