This week’s Ewa questions were regarding shipping options and fees.
So I was curious about the current shipping options as I had someone send me a package with actual US available tracking from Poland yesterday. Yes, from Poland with USPS tracking ability!!
This is Kaśka’s reply about the current options:
“I asked a Poczta Polska representative a couple of times about the ... tracking issue, and they told me there are no options for us for some reason. It is strange, because in the past, our packages were tracked outside of European Union without any problems, but now the tracking doesn't work... DHL Worldwide Express is usually more reliable and much faster for the majority of our clients (they have lost only one package since we started working with them, with Poczta Polska delays and lost packages are very common)... DHL for unpadded bras costs 95 PLN and delivery should take about 4 days.
And a follow up reply after I provided her with the tracking info from my package:
“…I asked the representative of Poczta Polska several times about other services we could use to ship to the US and Canada, but they didn't told me about this one (Global Express) for some reason. As it is already late here in Poland, I will ask them about the GLOBAL Expres service tomorrow.
We got better prices from DHL last month and the costs went significantly down. The price I gave you is for packages under 1kg, but padded bras need to be sent in boxes, so they take more space and the price is calculated differently, so the cost of shipping padded bras is 152 PLN (up to 2 kg).
If anyone has problems with customs and incorrect fees, please contact me, I can file a complaint with DHL if something is wrong and they usually respond quite quickly.
So my Canadian (and American) friends and fellow Ewa bra lovers, if you do order and DHL tries to charge you extra using the PLN dollar amount instead of the CAD or USD value, contact Kaśka and she will take care of it. While I did just ask specifically about the US and Canada, incorrect additional charges would apply to all regions, so if you are getting a call demanding a credit card number to pay fees that you know are not relevant to your region, contact Kaśka instead of providing that credit card number! Also, I highly recommend that you do a print screen of the current conversion rate for the product value (excluding shipping or PayPal fees, so only the cost of the bras/physical products and not the service) when placing an Ewa (or Comexim etc order for that matter) and keeping it handy just in case. This lets you know what the conversion rate was at the time of the order, and in turn what the dollar amount the fees should be based on for that order. Provide a copy to Kaśka if a problem does arise, or even better yet, provide it with the order number after placing it, asking for her to make sure that the customs declaration form includes that figure in your currency (USD, CAD etc) to avoid the DHL confusion in the first place.
I am not sure what the customs cap is for Canada or other regions, but for the US, it is a USD value of $800 or more that incurs the import fee. $800 USD equals 3042.97 PLN at today’s conversion rate, while 800PLN equates to $210.32 USD. That’s quite a difference in regards to fees. I am hoping that Kaśka will get back to me about the Global Express option, which has full US tracking, and I would assume in turn Canadian as well. If it becomes available, I will add the info as a comment below.
