I've gotten some messages for listed bras from users with no profile and no reputation. I'm wondering if these are just newbies or if there is another reason I should avoid interacting with them. Even if I'm just sending them a free bra, they would still see my address for the return address. Thanks!!!

If you're curious...I'm trying to gather up measurement data for ... bras and user measurements from r/ABraThatFits. I'd like to visualize and explore the data, maybe construct a clustering model to help users locate their individual size and shape and see what bras are clustered near them.
No idea if it will work, but it'll be a fun data science side project!

I don't know if it will be that useful. Everyone measures differently.
I'm worried I'm messing up the data with my Gorsenia bras: I took them right out of the box to measure them - so they're directly from the workroom floor & never been tried on before. I just give the bands a gentle stretch and measure them to 28.5 inches. (70 bands). Obviously, they have to stretch further than that because my underbust is 30.3 inches and they fit me fine. Then I looked at other people's data, and they're measuring Gorsenia bands to 31 inches (70 bands) so, whatever.
Also, measuring "cup depth" it's hard to do that accurately when it's a stretchy cup; obviously stiff cups (padded) shouldn't very that much.
Yeah...that's an unfortunate reality of using real-word data that isn't measured by a machine.
I have a few options for dealing with the outliers...from simple z-score/box-plot/3-sigma detection methods to more complicated ML algorithms. Then I could apply MICE (multivariate imputation by chained equations) to fill in the missing data.
I'd have to explore the data to know more! :)

Is there any special way to denote that a brand dramatically changed the cut for a new colorway if it’s still categorized as the same model, or do we just add them to the regular listing for the model and have the measurements be averaged together? I know we can mention it in a review but in terms of people looking at the measurements I would think keeping them in the same listing would make the averaged measurements less useful to people trying to figure out what size to buy.

Am I supposed to be filling out the complete fit of the bras I own but I know do not fit me anymore?
Wouldn’t that skew results and data?
I would like to see what *used* to fit and work for me. I think data like underwire length and cup separation are handy things to know for myself when looking ... for new bras. I’m just confused if measuring my current, incorrect fit would cause more problems than help. For others looking for fit matches, for bratabase data, and possibly myself getting recommendations down the line.
But if I were to fill out the fit of all my bras like the “my bras” page is asking me to, all of them would be listed as do not fit. Even though they did at one point for me.
Same thing for pictures. I don’t think a photo of me spilling out of a bra that is not my size anymore would help anyone else decide if it would work for them. It might help me, but I doubt it would help anyone else.
Should I just not complete the info for all the bras that do not fit me?

Hello. I would set your current measurements and move forward from there. Then enter the data for all your bras, even the ones that don’t fit. Even if they used to fit, using your current measurements and setting all the places it doesn’t fit, will help the database and others. You can always write in your review notes that it used to fit.
The way that the bra is shown to fit is with your current measurements.
Definitely do measure all the bras themselves that you have, fitting of not.
Then for those bras, on the fit assessment, as you fill it out it'll likely end up showing up as "Not fitting" and that'll be it.
If you did have your measurements from back when they used to fit, you could enter those measurements as a new entry and also set the fit for those bras that don't fit now but for that entry it will show as fitting.
Later, in the future, if you notice fluctuations, you are invited to re-check your measurements again and you can go ahead and update your bra fit for those new measurements and indicate that they don't fit anymore. That will mark the bras a "Used to fit".
Do add all the information you can, the site has been coded to allow for this situations. Pictures spilling, while not the most helpful, could help to show how off a bra is, as long as it's reasonable. Of course if you're a G cup trying an A cup there's not gonna be surprises, but if you got a G cup in certain brand and shows the awful fit, could be useful for others in your size range to know what to expect.

I've been feeling really insecure about my body, and would like to buy some push up bras. Do you guys have any recommendations for bras which give a good push up and are natural looking? I've been liking some of calvin klein's push up bras, but the model I like is out of stock, but also doesn't fit perfectly. I would need bands which are 28 - 32 depending on the brand. I generally wear a 30DD at calvin klein (their bands are extra tight).

I have probably 30% of my breast tissue as sideboob on my ribs. Most bras do nothing to bring that forward because the side straps come up too low, so the sideboob escapes into my underarms. To complicate things, my shape is wide-root, shallow-depth, wide-and-low set. I'm a 30D; basically two pancakes on a griddle.
What bra brands have small sized bras AND high sides for the sideboob?

Hard relate. When I was very young, someone donated a 30D Hilfiger 2 seamed soft cup & it saved my life. Alas I did not stay this small and into the wastes with Natori I went until even their 30G was way too small (and of course, tall). You may find high apex and plunge styles more effective but beware, due to very shallow flat designs that create poorly fitting cups, the sides ever be creepin & tattling on them.
In the basic American & UK bra market you're not likely to find anything useful for this proportion, but look into A Bra That Fits (ABTF) and do some of their shape tests to get a feel for how the side boob will behave- sometimes we're just overflowing at the sides from other areas that don't give us the depth our bodies need.
I personally judge a bra as it's shape as would be seen from below when worn. If it's a pyramid, it's a no-go. Those that appear more 'rectangular' or have straight lines directly out from the wire, before curving in are acceptable. Don't be afraid to do a hard pass when the inner panel and outer panel appear to be the same width (might be ok if the seam joining them is curvy instead of straight).
You may find it helpful to try a "fitting help" post to get some insight into your shape and bra construction styles that would suit your shape. Start with a bra that is not molded for a clearer picture.
So I try to make sure I measure any bra the moment I get it (I know I fail a lot of the time lol) and to measure as accurately as possible. But; I am curious about how you guys measure the Cup Separation? I know the instructions say to include the under wire channels in the Cup Separation measurement, ... but I of course did not notice that till after I had measured like over a hundred bras, lol. As of now I just measure the cup separation as the width of the gore, at the mid/top of the gore between the cups and don't include the under wire channels. How does everyone else do this or am I the only one doing it this way? I know it is wrong, but boy is it a daunting task to go back and re-measure all those bra's cup separations again!

I just started using this database. I only added my first bra yesterday. I'm interested in how others do this measurement. I measured from the inside of the bra from the outer edge of one of the underwires framing the gore, to the outer edge of the other. How do others do this measurement?

Does anyone know how many data points are needed from similar users in order to start receiving recommendations?
In the meantime, please spread the word about Bratabase...especially if you know of people with a short torso who wear a small band size

I get tons of recommendations, because - I think I'm more of a common "full bust" size (30 or 32 band), and I'm sorry it doesn't work out so well for people in less common band and cup sizes.
One of my big pet peeves: it bothers me when people use bratabase all the time, yet don't take the time to enter in data that would help others.
It only takes about 10 minutes per bra to put in the info!!!
I know I've been helped sooooo much by the data in bratabase. E.g. I was able to buy a new brand online and get the correct fit, just by comparing data here. So, it's super helpful!
BraOdyssey Thank you for validating my disappointment/frustration! Obviously the community aspect is very nice but I was hoping that the algorithm would have made suggestions regarding potential brands, styles, or sizes to try by now.

I'm no IT expert, but I wonder if requiring someone who visits the page who's not signed in to create an account or to have some sort of "wall" preventing them from accessing the data would make sure that everyone uses AND contributes.

Nothing wrong is happening here in Bratabase, not that I'm aware of.
This is actually happening to me on another website. Since credentials get leaked everyday online. Hackers will be trying to log in with your email and an old password from another website to every other site they can find. Thankfully it hasn't been a problem because I changed passwords before that.
So, please make sure you are not reusing passwords between sites, or here.

My suggestion is to use a Password Manager, personally I use https://bitwarden.com/ this way I can generate random/unique passwords for each site. So they are impossible to guess and never reused.
Otherwise, for a simpler mechanism, add "@bratabase.com" to your regular password so now it's unique for each site and you remember the same thing.
Sorry for deviating from the bra/boob motto of the site, but I think that this is important not only for you but also for the site, since because of a user mis understanding of an email from Google, we were accused of having a breach, which never happened.
So let's keep everyone safe online.

Are they generally cheap & scratchy? Amazon has so many bras that look exactly the same. which makes me wonder if they are the same manufacturer, just with different labels.
I forgot to review this bra when I bought it, and since it's so worth now I think the measurements won't be accurate, so I'll post my thoughts here. My current bra is Niya by Bravissimo, and here is what I wrote elsewhere when I first visit it:
This plunge bra is extremely comfortable and I often forget that I'm wearing ... it. This is due to the very soft material that is soft to the touch, and the light padding, overall making this a great choice for an everyday bra. It's so soft that I find myself grabbing my boobs just because of how nice the material is.
I was surprised that this plunge bra supported and covered me as well as it does, because due to the nature of shallow breasts, balconette and half-cup bras are the best style due to the open top. However this bra gives a nice shape and supports me with no gapping.
The light padding doesn't drastically alter the shape of the breasts, but if you want a more rounded appearance or to hide your nipples then this does the job. Another amazing aspect of this bra is the racerback configuration which is achieved by crossing the straps at the back. If you have wide breasts then this may be a game-changer for you. I found that wearing the bra in this way enhances the comfort because due to the width of my breasts, the straps can dig into my armpits, however by crossing the straps they are instead moved away from my armpits, allowing me to comfortably cross my arms, although my own breasts come out of the side door to their width.
If you have wide breasts then you will also find that the racerback configuration makes sleeveless clothing more aesthetically pleasing because the straps are no longer visible. This is also true for women who have narrow shoulders or struggle with the straps falling down. As a bra for shallow breasts I would recommend it, as this is now my favourite bra.
For those who want a comfortable everyday bra, I also think that this is a great choice due to the soft material and superb construction that ultimately gives good lift and a flattering appearance in clothing.

how do u search for bras using just measurements? i know i ask this question every few years, but i keep forgetting how to find that feature on this website. why is it so buried? lol, thanks. *i'm not talking about the one for listings, i'm talking about the one for all the bras on the site's database. i don't want to browse by brands or sizes, only measurements.

i don't want to search for bras in "my size", i want to search for bras that are 9" deep with around 5" wide cups, but don't want to see only bras "listed". i want to see bras that are just inputted. i hope that makes sense. the feature i'm talking about might not even exist anymore :(

I don’t know who runs Bratabase, but I’m trying to add a 28J Panache Envy Balconnet Bra (7285) to my bras and it won’t let me. Says it doesn’t come in 28J (which it does now in black, nude and white) but when I tried to submit the link to it and my picture of the label as evidence, it keeps saying “data has been tampered” or something like that. Help please

Wanted to add that it is available up to a K cup now for 28 bands.
I had this issue when trying to add my 28F - Panache » Clara Full Cup Bra (7255). I was able to get around it by entering just the UK size and not the other sizes on the tag, but I still get that error if I try to add the other international sizes.

Hello everyone! Brand new to the site after finding it through the ABTF Reddit community.
1. Is there a way to find other users with similar measurements? I would love to see what bras have worked for people with my same measurements, but all I can find is a way to search for specific BRA measurements. Sometimes I see an ... option that says "Other bras that fit" for a user, but I feel like the times I most want that feature is when I'm looking at real photo and I say "oh that looks like me!" but then I can't find a way to get to that person's profile. Are pictures not linked to our profiles on this site?
2. Since my measurements indicate five (!!!!) different size bras may fit me, is there a way to ask the site for recommendations based just on shape and attributes? I think it's weeding out bras that may actually work just fine for me. (It suggested a single bra for me in its recommendations, that can't be normal, right?)
3. Is this the place to post fit questions and recommendations from users? Or do people post here every day?
4. Last, this is kind of silly but in choosing a username I was just trying to be descriptive and now every time I look at my username I think it looks...um...inappropriate. Being totally new to this community, I don't want to come across as off-putting or be targeted, especially since I see warnings about creeps and stuff. So should I change my username?
The "recommended bras" was just a single bra in a size that is nowhere near my actual size. I'm used to bra calculators giving me many different sizes, but my actual size is somewhere around 36HH / 38H UK. I'm done breastfeeding (for now!) and so I'm on a mission to find a great-fitting bra that supports me, rather than lounging around in my tired nursing bras that don't do much really. I'm loving the information so far on this site and I hope to help others as well!

Firstly, welcome!
1) Not sure / don't think so - I just know the "search by size / measurements" feature. But, if you click the 'more' button on top; there's a breast shape gallery that may help you?
2) Yes, the easiest way to do so is either post a fit request in a specific bra - which I'd recommend - or you might post an adventure giving info about your shape / some bras that fit 'okay' and ask for recommendations.
It's best to first narrow down some specific bras / brands you'd like to try though, as 5 sizes is not even that strange, considering many bra brands (sadly) size vastly differently!
3) I'm not 100% sure what you mean by 'is this the place' - but the upper bar 'fitting help' allows you to post a >fit request< which is definitely the best way to narrow down your size!
4) Do whatever makes you feel comfortable, nobody should judge you either way IMO. But feel free to change your username - possible in your profile / account (hamburger menu / the 3 vertical stripes)
And on recommendations; for some of us that algorithm never really works, but they are extended when you add more bras!
Btw, what I've done in the past is search for bras in my size on amazon (you can put in 34HH bra in the search bar), then come look for the specific bras here, check in my size or near it, and look at pics/read reviews to get a better idea.
but you do need ot start by trying bras on, too - because not all people in the same size will also have the same shape - some breasts are more spread out and some are more projected even in the same size. Some people have more tissue on the bottom or more tissue on the top. You have to get a better understanding of what doesnt fit you as well as what does - which again is made easier if you do fit requests and get other people to explain what they see - so you have words for what isnt working, and a direction of how to find what might work better

I was going to skim through the Fitting Help section and noticed I could filter by "symptoms." Well, it made me realize that my issue isn't there, or it is and I have been doing it wrong this whole time. There are options for the gore sitting uncomfortably because it is too low and digs into the sternum, or it ... is too high and digs into the sternum. While on occasion I have had discomfort of the gore digging into the sternum, what my major issue is that the wire digs under my boobs into my ribs, not my sternum. Am I interpreting this incorrectly? Am I being too nitpicky about the word choice here. I feel embarrassed for only really asking now. DOH!

That is a different fit issue than the gore. For me it often means the cups are too shallow so the bra pushes outward and jabs the wires into the my ribs under my boobs
confused OK, that's what I thought! I still haven't found a bra that doesn't dig into my ribs. I feel like at cetains, it's inevitable :(
I need to find how to give bratabase feedback to add this to their bra "symptoms."
If you're just sending a free bra as a donation (rather than an exchange or something) you don't need to put a return address I imagine? I mean the post office will deliver it regardless...
Maybe you can use Jane Doe and use the address of the post office you’re sending it from. I totally understand why you’d be hesitant.
