  1. Lucky Star Plunge Body (CK031704)

    Didn't fit

TDLR: Very poor fit. Looked fantastic, would never wear it. I ordered and sent this back in April/May and at time of writing it's October, so this review is to the best of my memory. I'm just under the cusp for EU "plus size" sizes (plus size in quotation marks because clothing sizes aren't consistent and plus size isn't a universally same size range) so for me this body was much too tight around the waist and midriff, while fine over the hips and in the gusset. I'm 169cm tall and wear 44/46 in underwear and 38/40 in shirts.

QUALITY: OK. It wasn't quite poor, but it was ... not the standard I expect from a UK lingerie brand. Not all the seams are even and I'm trying my hardest to picture it since I didn't take a picture of it when I had the body - The elastic edge of the band wasn't evenly sewed on below the underwires, so the top of the elastic could peek out just below the underwire, instead of being snugly sewn under the wire channels. The bra band was constructed separately from the rest of the bodysuit and sew in.
The fabric choices were interesting - the plain black mesh they used was really stretchy, but the vinyl has barely any stretch to it at all. This was made clear when i put it on and fastened the hooks in the gusset. The top half was vinyl and the bottom half was stretch mesh.

FIT: This was such a poor fit for me. It was so uncomfortable, the wires dug into my ribs, the seams were digging into my sides, the whole thing didn't feel like it was made for my body's proportions. It was straight up painful to wear.
The top half of vinyl was so tight that the seams were being pressed into my skin that they hurt, in addition to leaving angry red marks. The wings of the bra were also vinyl so the bra is very non-stretchy for the sides and front half, and then the black mesh on the back is way more stretchy. This makes for uneven distribution of fabric tension, making the front much tighter than the back, and thereby making the tension on the wires higher and making them dig in to my ribs. The wires sat lower than my underbust line anyway because of the cup shape and lack of immediate projection.
According to my notes the band was still correct tightness for being 30FF, but you wouldn't know because the wires hurt so much lmao.
My natural waist is about the same circumference as my underbust, and the body was too tight for that part of my body. Again the vinyl in the front and the mesh in the back made the front part disproportionately tighter than the back part.

It felt like the cups wanted more outward tension than inward tension - the wires were really wide for me and it was lacking so much lift and space in the front and center cup structure that I had to scoop and swoop my boobs towards my armpits to actually fit them in the cups. If I were to scoop them where I normally would scoop them to wear a Gorsenia bra, they would be chillin' halfway-in-halfway-halfway-out of the cups, making a strange quadboob effect. A massive shape mismatch in other words.

    DESIGN:
This body was really pretty and it looked SO GOOD on the models (especially The Lingerie Princess who I follow on instagram), so I bought it because I wanted to look as good https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" />
The half/half vinyl/mesh cup structure looks awesome. Like that part was easily the most good looking part of the entire thing. I can appreciate the dart of mesh between the two halves of vinyl that go across the waist/midriff, it gives the shape variation and clean lines to make it less monotonous. The charm at the gore is cute, a little star to compliment the name of the body "Lucky Star".
The strap attachment point to the cup is stylish, being made up of a metal hoop attatched to a ribbon (more solid than one, but it looks like a ribbon) sewn into the cup. I'm not fond of it for fit purposes because it feels less sturdy, but it looks cool, I can't deny that!
There was 3 rows of 3 hooks in the gusset, which is excellent for adjustability. I'm glad it has so many hooks to adjust with because it makes more room for different body shapes and needs.

This bra is absolutely beautiful, but it does fit slightly differently from the Tease Me bra in the same size. Holding the cups of the two bras together to compare, it seems that the Thrill Me is wider and shallower than the Tease Me. Since I tend to fit into narrower, deeper cups better, this bra definitely flattens my profile a little, but it still fits relatively well and is quite comfortable. Those who fit well into shallow cups with wide underwires will probably absolutely love this bra and the shape it gives. I got this in the cobalt/fuschia color and it is very vibrant.

The band is very stretchy, so if you are on the border between band sizes, definitely take the smaller band. I've also found as a rule (for me anyway) that Curvy Kate tends to run one cup size small, relative to Freya, so I always size one up in the cup.

    Didn't fit

I’ve got some very mixed feelings about this bra. It was bought from lcl0706 and we thought that it had a chance of fitting because it closed in quickly, making it small for a 30FF, and since I tend to be in 30Fs mostly, a small fitting 30FF had a chance. This bra mostly fits, but lacks in a few areas, but it’s so pretty and I love the purple and sheer black combination.

My shape is average to low set, narrow and shortish roots (or taller roots with deflated tissue making them functionally short still), center full and relatively close set, even to full ... on bottom, with soft and malleable pendulous tissue. I need projection at the wire but only average projection at the apex. My pendulous soft tissue is sometimes deceptive.

Back to the fit. The band is snug but not as tight as my Ellace in 30E. It’s a 3 hook whatsamadoosit. And I actually did it up right on the first try! I kinda like the support of the extra hooks but it feel like it’s an industrial band now! The wires, which don’t seem to be different from the Ellace in 30E when I lay them on top of each other or measure them, but when I put it on and secure it, are quite a bit wider than my breast tissue, and not a tiny amount, but like a finger width or more. Some of my pics illustrate this. I also feel like the side wings and edge of the cup are up in my armpit so unless my arms are in a neutral or reverse position, I get cutting in. The cups are also too big, but because of the way it closes off, I’m not sure if I can size down or not (they almost fit). I actually think I might. It’s more obviously larger on my small side, as the cup does rest nicely over my larger side, especially if I am leaning forward/over, but I can get fingers under both cups easily. And I’m not filling it up a lot more before my period, either, so it’s not really a period bra. But I get great depth at the wire and it gives me a nice supported shape, and I love the peekaboo with certain tops.

So at this point, I do like it, but of all of my new bras, it is not the best fit on me. I’m not sure if I am going to keep or if I’m going to re-list it.

This is a really pretty bra on you. I can see how all the little issues add up, even though it looks good. It might be one that makes you miserable by the end of the day.

    • 1

If you like 2 hooks, figure out which Cleo's are FOB maybe. Tho i hear they are wide in your size range (they are narrow in the top of their size range)

    • 1

I still think this is a very acceptable fit on you but I can see where the wires are wide and how it feels like a lot of bra. The shape is lovely though and given how closed it is it’s still a toss up on if a 30F would fit.

    • 3

This is my favorite bra of all time. I have three of them, none of which fit right now but there is no way I would ever part with them because they are so beautiful.

If you need a smaller, less closed bra (besides Ellace), Florence fit me similarly but is more open on top.

    • 3

I've had many bras where the fit was effectively "too big" i.e. the cup fit a little baggy, but it was not the cup volume per se that was excessive--it was the strap placement (too far out /wide-set). This meant that when I wore it, with the straps necessarily too close to one another or angled in or both, it artificially opened up extra depth in the upper part of the cup, causing the fit to be different from what the designer intended.

    • Brash5 ...it is really pretty on me which is why I’m undecided despite the fit issues. I’m not exactly miserable by the end of the day, but do feel like I have better fitting bras. But then again, it’s used and I got it for a very reasonable price, so it’s hard to figure out how I want to proceed with it.

dbmamaz thanks. I recently got a Marcie which is more for FOT (and even to Somme extent) and the wires are a littl on the wide side, but only just barely, and seem ok. I’m waiting for a FOB style to come down in price some. Other than Lucy and Kali, are there other FOB Cleo styles? I’m not sure if I am going to get any other Cleo’s though, because the gore is a bit high...it’s higher than my Ellace and my Ellace is just as good, if not better than the Marcie.

lcl0706 I agree. I’d still be curious to see if a 30F would fit. Especially with how it fits at the apex. It’s such a beautiful bra and I do really like it.

cupandahalf I actually have a 30F Florence in powder blue coming. Though I’m worried about it because it was slated to arrive between April 3-11 and the tracking information stopped at March 24, which was a few days after I ordered it. So I hope that it is really on the way and not lost. I’m going to wait until Wednesday before pursuing an investigation. My Marcie was ordered a few days later and shipped from England and arrived a week ago and this one was ordered earlier and shipped from the states so I should have had it by now. There’s a Madagascar in the listings but I had wanted to wait for the Florence to arrive before deciding on getting it or not.

wendybien yes, it’s possible that the straps are too wide and exacerbating the problem, especially given that the bra is a cup size too big. So I’d expect wider straps. I feel like I fill the main part of the cup fine, the way it is supposed to be, but not the upper part, and that a cup size down will be too small. I think it’s the wires I have the biggest issue with, and not the gapping in the cups. Though usually, if I’m at work, I eventually forget about the wires.

Thanks for all of your input and your kind, encouraging words. All things that I have to think about. I’ve had the bra for a bit but delayed on the review because I really have/had mixed feelings about it. I’m glad I did so I could get some good feedback. Thanks again!

    • 1

Honestly it seems like Cleo discontinued all their FOB styles. Except maybe the Piper, but I don't feel like it fits the same as the old one.

    • The fitter when I was at Scarlet in Vancouver this weekend told me that Panache has discontinued the whole Cleo line. I thought it was a bit weird. But they have a current season of stuff, right? I, sure I’ve seen a SS18 video or something. Anyone know what is going on? Was she right or just full of it?

    • 2

Yeah they definitely do. That's very weird that she said that

    • d_queen I thought so too. I even told my friend after we left that she was full of crap.

    • d_queen & Calluna
Panache indeed confirms Cleo still is in production:

      https://www.panache-lingerie.com/us/brands/cleo

It includes the current line at the bottom of the page. :-)

    • MamaPagan yeah, I looked it up later and saw and sent the link to my friend. That new triangle bra looks good. I want to try it. I'm really not sure why the fitter said that. It's clear that, at least for this year, it's continuing.

    • Calluna I would assume that the fitter was just confused. The shop owner probably planned to discontinue stocking the brand line and the fitter took the news as if Panache is no longer making them. That's my theory at least!

    • 1

MamaPagan I suppose so. This information came as I mentioned that I had a Cleo Marcie bra from that I'd recently gotten from Amazon with a credit I had from a gift, and wondered if she would allow me to try it on and have her assess it. Which she did. And it was then that she mentioned that Panache had discontinued Cleo and that was probably why there were sale/cheap bras on Amazon.

    Fits

So it’s finally here! I have been waiting for this bra for quite some time. It’s been on my radar for a while and I saw it on Bravissimo’s sale page and the 30FF was in and out and I finally bit the bullet and grabbed it while it was in stock before it disappeared again. It took 3 weeks and a day to finally get it. I was beginning to worry because I didn’t have any tracking.

The sad news is that it doesn’t work for me! Wah! I was really hoping that it would be a good everyday lightweight black workhorse bra. The sheer cups would ... be breathable, and it didn’t have any frigging bows. It was a clean and simple look. I still really adore the aesthetics of this bra even though it doesn’t work for me well.

In this size, I get the industrial 3 hooks closure, which I actually don’t mind as I feel like it is more anchored. It’s not super sexy, but it’s not really that bad. I think it’s actually what helps me with the band comfort in this. In true Curvy Kate fashion, or at least my experience, it’s a bit of a snug band. Maybe not as snug as some others I’ve had, but it’s possible that I have acclimated to snugger bands since my last CK spree. I do feel like I can get away with just a single row of extender hooks, however, I lack a 3 hook extender. And I feel like the wider band is making the tighter fit a bit more tolerable.

The wires in this bra are really baffling. They are QUITE WIDE! I’m narrow to average, and with my soft tissue, I can fit fairly narrow wires. I’ve got one review coming up with 4.5” wires that I can do (barely) and this is 5.5” iirc. I’m usually most comfortable in 5-5.25”. This one does actually follow my tissue, but I bet if I wore it all day, I would find the marks about 1 finger width further than the end of my tissue. In addition, most plunge bras have the wires higher on the outside and lower on the inside...sorts like a bowl tipping over some. Or like a crescent moon. Now, I initially thought that maybe it’s because the band is a bit snug and therefore I might have some wire distortion. But in looking at the fit on other people, I don’t think this is the case. Letting up on the band (holding it on but looser and not connected) does not change anything.

I’m simultaneously spilling and gapping in the cups. On one hand, it appears to be too small as I’m spilling, yet near the apex and the strap connectors, I’ve got empty space. Now with the straps, it’s a pretty normal affair with my soft tissue and shape that I gap there. It’s no longer a problem or concern with fitting. It is what it is. HOWEVER...this bra is very sheer, and the gaps are much more noticeable. Is this a deal breaker? Not really. But the cups just fit really oddly. I do kind of think that it is somewhat fob friendly. But maybe it’s just my boobs that don’t fit in the cups right.

Now the immediate depth is pretty good on this one, but I think it’s not quite deep enough at the gore, and the cups are a bit too wide set for me. I’m not really getting any cleavage, and I’m typically close set supported (splayed unsupported) so I feel like it’s maybe fitting my unsupported shape and therefore giving me a little bit of an unsupported look/feel.

As it’s a plunge, I do appreciate the lower gore, and really appreciate the circular gore detail. It’s honestly so refreshing from bows. I do feel like it could be a bit narrower.

As I mentioned, I really love the aesthetics of this bra. I’m sad that I don’t have a good fit in it and I don’t think it will change if I get a different size.

I’m going to list it for a bit before I send it back.

    • Such a pity it didn't fit to your expectations after all that waiting. Aesthetically, I actually really like it. I do think it's a fairly sexy bra actually, but it seems like it's just a shape mismatch on you. Good luck as you continue your hunt for the perfect (elusive) black bra.

    • Thanks Wilderness1 ! It’s really a lovely bra but doesn’t do much for me.

    • Oh, I'm so sorry that youre disappointed. However, when you said you had ordered it, I was very skeptical that it would - for no reason either than wire width - as I had tried it a long time ago.
This bra IS S-A-F and I love it for all the reasons you mentioned - no bows, light, sheer, plunge shape, etc.
I filled my need for this look with my Gorsenia Paradise.

    • Thanks AGBras

    • Oh no, this is such a good looking bra, very sexy like AGBras mentioned! I do think the sheerness of it makes the "fit issues" more apparent, even if they're not so bad (to me looking at your pics). The wires do look a tad wide like you mention. There's no sense in keeping something you're not happy with.

Do you like the circle/connector on the straps? That's the only detail of this bra I'm not a fan of. Have you seen the Curvy Kate Victory Balcony (9001) ? I think that one looks sexy too, might be more flattering than this one, but I also think it can come up too high in the cup, like the upper outer portion...

    • 1

I love the circular strap connector, yes. I’m so sad that it is not a good fit. :(

    • I tried this on today and it’s got me curious...anyone think that I might have some better luck with it if I bend the wires in some to make them more narrow and thus deeper at the gore? I recognize that it will make an already snug band even tighter, but I am ok with trying it with an extender. I’ve never done that before, but since I do really like the aesthetics of this bra, I wonder if I can save it somehow.

    • Also, I am going to take it to the local lingerie shop to see if I can try it with a little hook extender. Perhaps less tension will fix depth at the gore some and open up the cups a little bit. Just for bra science. ;)

    • I wouldn't bend the wires. You have a lot of gaping at the top of the cup. You're better off returning it and finding a better fit.

    • Only major gapping is at the straps. That’s par for the course in nearly every bra. Cups feel slightly small, if anything. It’s just more visible in this one because it’s sheer. I’m going to try it on again and see if I can get a quick 30 seconds or less video that I can post to an imgur album.

    • Err. I should have been more alert with reading the comments. I’m uploading videos now to imgur and will post shortly. They take longer to process.

    • Ok...so it’s slightly out of order (why does imgur do this?!) and it force uploaded before the last description was added which is pretty evident...it’s showing what a potentially narrower gore would do with the shape and fit.

I think my biggest fit concerns with this bra are the wide wires, wider cup spacing, and wrinkles at the gore. Aesthetically, the strap/upper quadrant gapping is not as pretty because it’s a sheer fabric, but under clothing, I’m less fussed over something that always happens.

I don’t think that I can do a smaller size...I don’t think that it’s going to change anything in the upper areas, only cut in and quad. I do still think that it’s probably best if I return it, but if it’s something that I can hack to make it work better, I am game for it.

      https://m.imgur.com/a/mm2jXak

    • Oh...i see better now. Much better. So good when you load videos. Its not too big - just not a great shape for you. Like you said, it gives east-west. And these wires have a pretty swooshed shape. Even if you bend these wires, you'll never get a nice up front shape. I don't think so anyways. I only bend wires when its just a little off and won't mean an extender.

    • Yeah, videos can be so much help sometimes. I’m just befuddled at why a plunge bra has such low and wide wires. Curvy Kate, why??

    • LOL! I gave up on Curvy Kate a long time ago. Especially when I say their models wearing bras that CLEARLY don't fit them. That, to me, says a lot about a company.

Plunges, by definition, have lower wires ;)

    • Lower wires at the gore but higher on the outside though. More like J than U. This one is like the J but like it’s not all the way up on the side. I’m not sure how else to explain.

    • Bah...You explained it correctly. Its a very lazy J, so it means its very wide at the top. It keeps the wings low but fails to push (narrow) breasts forward.

    • Maybe it’s lower on the sides because it’s a low wing?

    • 1

AGBras you hit the nail on the head! I normally appreciate lower wings but on a plunge bra you need the higher height for the taller wires which push the tissue inwards. This one has a lower wing height with lazy j wires that are too wide so my tissue doesn’t get pushed inward.

    • 1

It looks much better on your video Calluna ! I totally see what you both are talking about now... A little bit of height and curving up would definitely bring them more to the front and center.

    • Yeah, pictures are great but sometimes video is better especially if you can go hands free.

    Didn't fit

Very short, projected, even, somewhat narrow, close-set breasts...

Eeks. I didn't think this would remotely fit. It weighs less than an ounce and appears significantly smaller than any other bra I've ever owned. Her predecessor in my wardrobe was 30G Ellace which fits spectacularly--excepting the cup and wing height are too tall. melifish recommended I purchase a 30FF Ellace; no longer available for less than $60. cupandahalf suggested Florence because she found the design remarkably similar to Ellace except the materials were non-stretch. And, Amazon conveniently, had 30FF Florence on sale with free returns for $21. Enter 30FF Florence.

Florence is small and mighty. ... She lifts and rounds like bras twice her weight. She is impressive and comfortable. Compared to Ellace her wings, gore, and cup height are wonderfully shorter. Like I mentioned, she is diminutive in size. This is a bra for short-rooted, even breasts. I'm projected and think she might be better for average projection, whatever that is https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";-)" /> It is important to note, 30FF Florence may be one size too small for me. Nevertheless, she is amazing!!

Her materials are not as soft as Ellace, but they are more supportive. If you have heavy, short breasts Florence is your gal.

Like every other bra I own, Florence's gore is too wide for my close-set breasts. And, there is some in-cup quadding. Finally, considering the prolific wire and fabric seam lines on my breasts, she is just one size too small. That is an easy exchange.

Every Curvy Kate unlined I've tried endears me to this brand. Today, 6 Panache bras arrived from Amazon. After testing Florence, I tried one Panache and the rest remain in the shipping box. Three rows of fasteners, wide straps, soft materials: these are admirable characteristics https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":-)" /> Again, many thanks to courtnelius for sharing her favorite Curvy Kates and helping me quickly and inexpensively find my size.

I am so seriously excited for you! I love Curvy Kate bras for us short-rooted gals (I'm wearing a Bardot now). I have their new Princess Plunge on order right now too!

    • 1

I really wish my size in Florence would go on sale. It's always been $59 even if the other sizes are $20!!

    • Brastop has them for, roughly, $21

    • 1

The princess plunge....sounds glorious :-) I'm eager to read your review!! cupandahalf Where did you purchase your princess plunge?

    • 1

They just added it to Amazon but I've also seen it on figleaves and brastop. If it fits I'll return it and order from one of them as its $20 cheaper.

    • 1

Also, I'm not sure if you've ever craved the Cleo Marcie roundness, but I got the Marcie and Curvy Kate Daydreamer (another new style) off Amazon at the same time. They had the same round shape, but the Daydreamer was infinitely more comfortable, having both softer material and low low wires and sides. The gore was nice and low too. In fact, it was so low on the sides I spilled out a bit, which was novel. Oh, and nice narrow wires. This was in a 38J, so I'd be curious if it also worked out for folks on the other end of the band spectrum.

For reference, I'm fot, short-rooted, splayed but then my tissue connects at the top, and have all the projection. I mean my boobs are 4 inches tall and 14 inches around both directions, so super fun pendulous time basically. I'm constantly amazed when any bra hoists them into space.

    • 1

cupandahalf Daydreamer is added to my wish list now :-) Thank you, again :-) Thank goodness for bras that defy physics :-) :-)

    • Thank you to you for describing the Florence for everyone, which I have yet to try. Hmmm... Short rooted and projected boobs would like Bardot or Madagascar. (Bardot runs small.) it also looks to me like Bardot runs narrower in the gore than the Florence (and more similar to Dreamcatcher there).

    • 1

Thank you to you for describing the Florence for everyone, which I have yet to try. Hmmm... Short rooted and projected boobs would like Bardot or Madagascar. (Bardot runs small.) it also looks to me like Bardot runs narrower in the gore than the Florence (and more similar to Dreamcatcher there).

    • You thought Bardot ran small? When I tried it, it definitely ran big, and measurements showed that it was a cup size large.

    • 1

The best bra I've found in my size for my type is the regular Princess, but they scale it so much differently for those of you in the 30ish bands according to bratabase measurements that I can't recommend it.

I'm actually too projected, too short busted, and too close rooted for the Bardot to work perfectly. I fold over the bottom a bit and the gore is taller than my boobs and comes forward because my center fullness pushes it out. I need a lower gore (hence the Princess). The wires pull back with the band which pulls the embellished top tight, cutting right across my fullest part. When the wires are correctly placed I don't get the quad though. It certainly measures as one of my deepest bras, so I'm not sure if it runs small or if just the top embellished part cuts in more on FOT breasts.

I'm going to make a blog post soon comparing all the Curvy Kates I've tried because I've tried on a lot of them now, and I think they're pretty amazing but they seem to get short shrift on bratabase.

    • cupandahalf Please do write about Curvy Kate!! I was pleasantly shocked by how well Curvy Kate fits. And, I wish I had tried these newer models sooner.

Like you, Bardot's gore is too wide and too tall for me. I overlapped and narrowed the gore and the cup became too small. The Princess Plunge may be a good fit....when it is not $66. ;-)

@courtnelius sold me several of her models for a fantastic price, and they all very nearly fit. Earth shaking :-) They are remarkably more comfortable for me than Panache/Cleo. I hope to have three well-fitting unlined CKs soon. Until then, I'm practically living in the Shockwave bikini. Ordered a second Shockwave so this one can rest. ;-)

I'm commenting on the 30F Bardot, which runs smaller than the 30F Gia, Dreamcatcher and Princess, and more similar to the 30F Jewel. Not sure how these comparisons hold up throughout the size range.

Yuk, I think this bra is just not designed for my boobs, although it has a good quality.

My boobs are closeset, even and conical, with average width and slightly tall roots. I have a breast perimeter of 26-28 cm (depends on menstruation period and weight). However due to my conical shape, I actually need an unpadded bra with 24.5-25.5 cm in cup depth to give my boobs a little bit compression. I saw the interpolated cup depth of this bra is 25.2 cm so I bought it, but the fact is I am wrong.

The cup depth of the bra I've got is 26.8 cm. Only my nipples ... can attach to the fabric, so there is a lot of empty space in the cups, and the shape is also weird and pointy.

The sewing technique of the wire ends is same as Hunkemoller unpadded bras, but the wires are more stable and harder so the center gore doesn't twist when I scoop and swoop.

In my sight, the only highlight of this bra is the 3×3 closure. It makes my back looks beautiful and straight.

I plan to return it back without any sizing down later. I guess a 30F will be slightly too small for me.

It’s for very round and full on top breast shape.

    • 1

I tried it a few years ago and it got similar results. This bra really highlights shape mismatches.

I am close set, full on bottom and have outer fullness. I have been noticing some quading in my 30F bras including my 30F - Curvy Kate » Atomic Plunge Bra (CK4811) so I tried a size up. Curvy Kate changes more then cup size between F and FF. The band and straps are thicker and it has 3 hooks. The cups are significantly taller and wider then the previous size. The wire also is more painful then I remember my new 30F being. When I compare the wires they seem to bend the same when the same force is applied, so I think they hurt ... more because they are ill fitting. My bigger breast is able to fill out the bottom of the cup but the top is a wrinkled mess. Like all the plunges I have tried the cups are too closed off and my tall roots get in the way so the wrinkling looks even worse. The cups are too tall and the strap cuts in my armpits uncomfortably. The wires are too wide especially for my smaller breast. My ideal size for this bra would be between a 30F and 30FF.I need shorter and more open cups. I love the color, deep violet with black accents.

It's a shame this doesn't fit you, because that bra is gorgeous. What a perfect sheer bra look!

    • 1

Ugh this is exactly how this bra and the Cascade “fit” me too only in the 30E and even in that size the gore dug in despite it being short. I have short roots too, and I’ve given up on CKs plunges unfortunately

    • 1

I also have given up on CK plunges because I can't ever fill the top of the cup and it gives me a weird pointed look. I seem to always be stuck between two sizes. Thanks for the review. I was beginning to reconsider their plunges because there are some pretty ones, but you made me reconsider!

    • 1

Have you considered sewing the Gore together so that the wires are touching/overlapping? I think this could help make this bra work better for you.
The wrinkling doesn't look all that bad to me and I think doing this to the Gore would position the cups better on your body. It would also bring the straps in some because they're obviously too wide as well. Try pining the Gore together, situating the bra on your body as if it was built that way and see if it helps at all.

    • 1

It's such a beautiful bra and color. It looks like you may need more immediate projection in a bra. I have close set breasts too and have gore issues with bras that are too shallow

    • 1

LeProfessor I thought about altering the gore but the cups being too tall and closed off made it seem like a loss cause, so I returned it.

Brash5 and lcl0706 I wish their were more bra options out there. I need a gore less then 2 in, narrow and deep cups around 5.3 in and 10 in. CK plunges are the closest thing I have found. I wish I could wear balconette/halfcups but the gores are to tall and pokey.

    • 2

I wish their plunges were just a little bit more open on top cause I love the aesthetics of them! And they fit well other than the top of the cups and their oddly pokey gores, which I’d be willing to work with if the cups weren’t so closed.

    • I wish their plunges were just a little bit more open on top cause I love the aesthetics of them! And they fit well other than the top of the cups and their oddly pokey gores, which I’d be willing to work with if the cups weren’t so closed.

    • Did either of you ever try the Princess plunge? Or their new plunge, Lifestyle? Both of those are significantly more open on top than Cabaret, Dare, or Atomic, at least in the top of the size range.

    • 1

cupandahalf I haven't tried them yet. I have been looking for a non-pink Princess one at a decent price, since I heard that the princess plunge was the most open of the plunges. The price is not too bad on ebay I should just buy it. I'll put the lifestyle plunge on my list of bras to try. And it comes in nude!

    • 1

violetknight Lifestyle fit a lot like Princess plunge but more comfy. I think you'll like it!

    • I want to try lifestyle but i was told Atomic was significantly more open on top than Cabaret was & I found zero difference between the two, at least in a 30E. But lifestyle is on my list.

    Fits

On me, this bra is very difficult to fit. I have the red in 30F, and it's too small. Then I have the white in 30FF, and it's slightly to big, but still a better fit than the red. So in my size, the Princess bra runs small in the cup. The back band fits well.

It gives a good shape under clothes, but I find it rather uncomfortable to wear, as it's very itchy. The white more so than the red, I think. I don't think washing helped that much on the issue. Also, the little (and very cute!) velvety polka dots take colours badly, so if you have the white version, don't wear it, as I've done, under dark coloured clothes, if you want it to retain its white freshness.

Victory is one of my favourites for under t-shirts, surprisingly. It gives my boobs a nicely rounded, up-front and slightly separated shape, and doesn't cause necklines of t-shirts to ride up and choke me like moulded t-shirt bras tend to do! It isn't a perfect fit for me in 30FF, but it is good enough and offers good support on the middle to tightest hooks. If it came in 28G, it would be perfect! The wires are a good with for me, and encompass my breast tissue perfectly. I love the sleek, clean-cut lines - no frills or bows, instead a sleek 'V' charm and cut out detail ... to keep it light. The cups are perhaps a little shallow at the bottom, by the end of the day I get a little bit of an 'orange in glass' effect where the wire has dropped slightly and there's a crease in the bottom of the cup, but it doesn't affect the comfort or support - I actually only notice it when I go to take it off. I've had the latte one for a couple of months and black for around a year and a half and both are holding up well with regular wear and washing.

Extraordinarily pretty bra with its crystal charm and shimmery silver embroidery. The sparkly top edge is so lovely I totally wouldn't mind if it happened to peak out from beneath my shirt during the day! So far I've found that CK plunges fit best in a cup size down from what I wear in their padded and balcony bras, and Dare is no exception. Wires are medium-narrow, immediate projection is about average, and the low gore is a perfect match for my close-set boobs. The shape is not stellar, but not terrible: more of a natural teardrop. Cup coverage is just a bit more than an Ewa SM. Altogether, a very useful bra for beneath low-cut tops and dresses, and a beautiful one at that. Pretty impressed with Dare!

    • I had been stalking your review :-) The 32F Atomic Plunge is more narrow--5.3" cups. It seems the Atomic, because it is new for 2016, may be more narrow than Dare. In this case, because I need a 30" band, I may prefer 30FF Dare over 30FF Atomic. Thanks for your measurements and review! :-)

Happy to help! Lol, you should know that I just bought the berry colorway of the CK Bardot based on your review, too :) I'm really enjoying trying more of CK's unlined bras at the moment. Just a heads up if you end up going for a 30FF Dare-- the Mink colorway is super cheap on Ebay right now!

    • Oh shoot, I spoke too soon! It appears Ebay is all out :(

    • Giggle. No problem. I'm returning a bikini top to Brastop. So, I'll exchange for a plunge.

This is a very sexy bra. The top of the cup is fairly closed off, almost too much so for my even fullness boobs. So if you're FOT, this is not the bra for you. It cuts in just a bit on my bigger side while simultaneously wrinkling on my smaller side. It's not a perfect fit, but these minor issues are unnoticeable under a loose tee shirt, and I wouldn't wear this bra under a tight tee shirt due to the lace and seams. I don't think going up to a 30G would solve the problem, as I'm almost certain it would ... be too deep for me.

I love the 3 hook closure and love Curvy Kate for consistently offering that in my size range, along with always offering the little finishing details that make a bra unique. The bows, oh the bows! So amazing without being overdone. The purple trim all the way around to the back! The black satin contrast on the cups and band! Yes! I'd say the band runs tight for CK, it only stretches to 29" and is wearable on the loosest hooks for me, fastenable on the middle hooks. I was worried about this since the bra was not offered online in my usual 28G. I tried the 30FF because it's really cheap on Amazon right now lol.

Being my first foray into CK bras, I'd say, based on other CK reviews, this is a very narrow and projected cup for them. I measured 5.4" wide and 10" deep. The bottom of the cup is excellent, the wires nestle right into my IMF and it has enough immediate projection for me. I don't need to readjust when I bend forward, it holds the girls in there.

This is my first unlined bra in many many years and the fabric is... meh. It could be softer, and may get softer after a washing. I will have to wear it for a day before I can tell whether my skin will get along with it. I'm impressed by the amount of lift and overall roundness I got from it. I also love the very narrow center gore - it's higher than I usually go for but I can get away with it because it's so narrow. Again, will have to see over the course of the day if it starts to dig. If I decide to return it, I don't want to wear it too much. I might keep it just for sexytimes, because it's a very sexy, very sheer black bra.

This will be a fantastic bra for many. It is just screaming for narrow to average width, projected, FOB shapes. I highly recommend it.

I got this bra a few weeks ago but I somehow forgot to write a review.
It is the first version of the Thrill Me bra, I also have worn a 34DD - Curvy Kate » Thrill Me [showgirl Collection] (SG3001) in black/ivory. I have to admit I like the older version better. There are some issues with the gore digging in a bit, but I can bear with it non problem. I would recommend this bra for FOB girls for a ckae-on-a-platter look.

    For azure/plum:
Absolutely the wrong size. I'll need to go up a cup size and maybe down a band size, so I might be ordering another size soon. I'm sad because it looks lovely and the bands are super stretchy and comfortable. I thought I could manage to shove my boobs in it, but alas. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" />

This bra almost worked for me, but not quite.

I bought it in aqua and really like the colour and the contrasting embroidery. It also gave a nice, natural rounded shape. The material feels nice on the skin and not itchy. I also like that it doesn't have the ribbon detail on the top edge of the cup like the Curvy Kate Angel because it allows the top edge to stretch a bit without cutting in.

The bra didn't really work for me mainly due to overall fit. I was easily able to fasten the bra on the tightest set of hooks, so if you generally wear 30s you might also want to try this in a 28. I also found the straps too wide which also caused the outer side edge of the cup (where it begins to go under the arm) to cut into my armpit. I don't think I'll try the 28G since I foresee the same problem. It's too bad since I was really hoping this would work.

  16. Eye Spy Balcony Bra (011100)

Loved this bra when it fit as a 28G/30FF - nice low cut balcony with a scooped out underarm, especially great as I'm quite petite. Unfortunately since going up a cup size I can't quite find the right fit in this. The 30G seems to be made wider rather than deeper, so it cuts in just as much across the neckline and sits too wide without adding any extra depth. I may put the 30FF wires into the 30G and see if this helps.

The shape of this bra seems to hold more of my breast in place than other bras (I am center-full). The band is extremely small! I went with my larger size (30), and it was way too small. This bra is very lightweight...it doesn't seem as substantially made as other CKs I own or have tried. But I like the idea. I ordered a larger band/smaller cup, so we'll see if it will fit...and if I can figure out the strap variations!

  20. Lifestyle Plunge Bra (CK5711)

Comfortable, cute unlined and sheer plunge bra. I am used to sister sizing to 30FF from my usual 28G and I find it quite comfortable when fastened on the tightest or middle hooks. It doesn't seem to stretch out too quickly with wear and handwashing, I have the black, latte, petrol and lilac shades and all have stood the test of time with seemingly minimal stretching out. It's my go-to bra for beating boob sweat in hot weather thanks to the lightweight fabric. It is a little wide for my shape but not enough to cause discomfort or issues with fit. Straps could be a touch narrower and the apexes could be a little lower, but they don't impact the fit or comfort for my shape. It's one of those bras I forget I'm wearing until I get ready for bed!
