I live in Denmark, where there appears to be a ceiling on bra sizes, that stops at EU cup size H (so, about FF in UK sizes). For me, who is well beyond FF's, this is of course rather upsetting. But what is more upsetting is the false joy I get when I twice in this month has seen UK ... brands that make up to K-cups, only to discover that the store refuses to stock them beyond H. "H in UK sizes?" I ask, still a bit hopeful, though that would still be too small for me, it may allow me to find styles I could order. But alas, no, only EU H-cups. Well, what is the point of stocking Freya and Fantasie if they are not going to use it to it's full potential?! They are only using much less than half of the offered sizes, why?!

- I'm with you on this one. I live in Sweden. I always shop bras online and it seems I will get ruined by return postage before I find a bra that fits!
- I am very glad to hear you are also from Scandinavia! I've read some of your bra issues, and I think we face a lot of the same things, and now because of location, maybe our bra journeys will be even more relevant to each other! I assume you have also experienced with Change Ligerie (the only store around here who have broke the H-cup barrier)? I didn't see any in your added bras.

After moving to the UK, I finally found bras that actually fitted! I still got a bunch of bras that are brand new but before I got fitted I bought tons of them, often didn't try them on because I was a bit embarrassed. It's a fab site and I plan to list some there, for some odd reason I ... didn't want to throw away brand new bras so I kept them all in a box. My digital cam gave up living but as soon as I got that sorted, I'll take pics and no problem sending them worldwide. I've lived in places where bigger bras or unusual sizes were seriously hard to find, so I do sympathize!!!!

I used to look forward to getting new clothes in the mail, but now I'm looking forward to my new bra purchases...wahoo!

- Yey! :D New clothes are always fun but there is something special with bras, they transform the whole apperance and means a lot more. Atleast to me. :P
- I totally agree! You can wear a ratty tshirt with a great bra and feel amazing.

Today I went to Norstrom to look at bras in my size. All they had was the Deco in 30F, which turned out to fit magnificently, a Cleo Jude in 30G, which also fit well, but didn't give me the amazing shape that the Deco did, and a Panache Porcelain, which was maybe a size too small, and gave me an elf-shoe look when I straightened my posture.

People who shorten bra straps permanently, please state it when you're selling a used bra. Also, if you bought a used bra with altered straps and you resell it, mention that the straps aren't as long as they normally are in that model.
Some of us need shorter straps, but some of us need all that length!

Also, I'm wondering if it's really a good idea to shorten straps permanently when you're not sure if you're going to keep the bra or resell it.

- I can completely understand this. I'm tall too and some brands I can't even wear because the straps are too short from the start. Also I'd never resell a bra that's been altered. I feel that once I've altered a bra at that point it's mine forever.

Trying to find a size, I've given up on it. Trying to find bras that fits, I've given up on that too. Sometimes I do think that fitting advise on bras caters to young women with not that much flesh on them.

Bra fitting for a 39 year old fat woman who's been wearing the wrong bras all her life is another story completely.

- Even though our situations are different, I'm pretty sure I know exactly what you are saying. It also applies to any of us who aren't "standard". Oh sure, they pay lip service to us sometimes by giving suggestions for "narrow shoulders" or "high set", but if you're narrow-shouldered AND high set, you might as well pack up your toys and go home. And if you've got three or four of those different "fit issues"....fuhgeddaboudit. People talk about the confidence you find when you find the right bra that gives the perfect shape and lift and whatever, but for me trying to buy a bra has simply made me feel like I'm some sort of freak.
  
  So, I'm sorry I'm no help, but at least know that you are not alone.
- You are not the only 39 year old plus sized lady in the community (though I refuse to think of myself as old). I like that the article gives practical tips that I find to be true. My other pet peeve with bras on a more padded figure is that setimes the bands try to cut in with the very bottom edge (into a chub roll that lives right at my underbust) which can be painful as the band turns a bit more horizontal at the edge- I find that is worse in firm feeling bands/bands with a more rigid or thick elastic at the bottom (like freya sportsbra and parfait Charlotte). Also boning on the sides exacerbates this, on me so I have to avoid it.

It's really hot here (>32°C, 90°F), so I tried out my new awesome Panache Sports bra in the cooler morning hours. It seemed sort of too big at first, but totally inhibited bounce. Really nice!

(Not sure about the hand wash part though? The Shock Absorber B4490 is machine washable and I always supposed this was a good characteristic for a sports bra... We'll see about that.)
