All the bras I like are too old. I'll never find any of them :[ sigh.
All the bras I like are too old. I'll never find any of them :[ sigh.
Quick question - I am wearing a 28E in the Freya Deco strapless and half cup (which I know runs small in the cup), both of which fit fantastically. If I wanted the regular plunge version, should I be sizing down in the cup, or sticking with an E?

I think the regular Deco isn't suited very well for smaller busts, because of the insanely narrow wires (in those sizes) and it tends to gap on most people who try it in the smaller sizes. I owned it in 28DD and it gaped, but the wires were much too narrow for me, I found that 28E was more comfortable and the gaping was about the same as the 28DD.
If you have narrow breasts, I think you will find that the 28DD will work well, but if you have wide boobs, you should probably not get this bra .
Darn, I do have fairly wide breasts. Thanks for the warning!

I recently found out that the USA bra sizing system is wrong and that my 36DD bra I had been wearing was most likely not my true size. After doing my measurements the correct way it turns out that I come out to a 30/32 G *perhaps a 30/32 FF at times too* Although, I do have a 4in increase in ... my bust when I do the measurements leaning over as some bra blogs suggest which would then put me in a H-J cup. After debating it a bit I decided to just go with my standing bust measurement as a starting point and I eventually order a highly recommend @FreyaDeco (size 30G)
I'm really excited for it to come in the mail, so wish me luck!

It's not that the US size system is *wrong*, it's that a lot of US manufacturers use the +4 method of bra sizing. Even within companies that use the UK size system, you will find a lot of variance with sizing. Keep in mind that just because you find that you're X size, doesn't mean that you will be X size in any bra.
Congratulations on starting the journey to finding new bras to fit you
LOL @ measuring bending over. If I did that, I'd be in like a 36Z. We're talking some serious dangling there. I think it depends on your individual breasts what measuring method you can use and be accurate. Perky breasts standing or bending probably won't make much of a difference. If you've got saggy boobs (like me), pretty much NO method of measuring without a bra on will be even close.
I find all of the naked measuring methods useless to me. If I'm standing, I'm measuring my bust ~4 inches below where it should be, which then gives a false measurement because it's done at a different level on your chest wall/back and also the boobs are spread down instead of concentrated up where they should be. Laying on my back, well, let's just say armpit boobs and leave it at that. Bending over = dangling, which adds a few inches.
The best estimator of my true size was posting a fit request with a bra I had with pictures on here and having the experts estimate proper size based on how it was fitting. They were within 1 cup/band size as I recall. Quite impressive! They also suggested what specific bras to try based on my body shape. I need narrow wires and very projected cups. All bras are not created equal.
Can anybody explain to me exactly how much the charges are, and what for?
By this, I mean do they charge you for each customization (for ordering a different cut in a certain color that isn't listed on the site, a size they don't have listed, extra hooks etc)
Or do they just charge you a flat 20 zloty more for a ... custom bra? That's how I understood it :/
Any other info concerning this would be nice, since I've decided to make my first EM bra a KM (I've got months to save up XD) but as of now, the only colorways(term?) they have in those styles are Biszkopty and Onyks, and I'd have to custom order a smaller band anyhow.
Thanks!

You can custom make other colours/fabrics in KM but from what I last heard they will charge you even more than the extra 20 zl.
Oh noes D:
So is it for every customization?
Like, if I got a bra in a 26 band, wanted the KM in a different fabric, and possibly more hooks, will they charge me +blahzl for each or will they just charge that one fee in addition to the original cost?

Just had the Gossard Egoboost Bikini come in the mail in blue! It makes my boobs look -amazing- and the band doesn't fall down even though I sized up to a 30 band! I'm a little disappointed with the pushup pads in it, but it is forgiven for making my boobs look the best they have in years! Will definitely be hunting it down in red and floral, is absolutely amazing!

Very, very happy for you!
(but oh my oh my I just looked at the picture and I'd be so afraid of popping out of that, even with the straps on! talk about a sexy, sexy, wow-factor plunge...!)
Ooh I love that! How does it work with/without straps, any difference comfort/look?

By now, I think everyone is familiar with my Ewa shipping difficulties. Quick recap:
My first experience was: used their calculator, received all wrong sizes. Sent them back registered and insured ($50). Something went wrong with customs. Finally got back to me three months later, was charged $30 by the post office here to get my ... package back. Total = $95 spent on shipping (including initial order), 0 bras that fit.
Next order, recently: first package got lost, still hasn't been found. 2nd package sent 8 days ago. Post office here tells me it has not yet left Poland, and they have no information as to why it would be kept there.
And what the hell, I'll add Russian post in there. Sent some DDAtelier dresses back for exchange a month ago. Last info the post office has is that they were scanned in at a sorting facility in LA... On March 8th.
Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? I mean, How many months does it usually take to ship a small package to that part of the world? Is it normal for almost every package to get held up in customs or disappear entirely? Should I just give up on EM bras altogether? Would it be any better with Comexim? Honestly, I am going out of my goddamn mind about all this. I have been waiting since January to get some of this stuff.

I have no experience with polish/eastern brands and shipping... All I can say is that four friggin' months is NOT normal!
That's not at all normal.

Do you guys do your underbust measurements with or without a bra on? I noticed this morning that my underbust comes out at least 1" smaller with a bra on - I think because without a bra to lift my breasts, some of the tissue is pushed down around the underbust line. This explains why 30" bands have been feeling big on me recently - I'm around 30" underbust with no bra, which is how I've always measured, but wearing a bra, which is I guess what matters, I'm around 28.5" or 28.75".

I always measure without a bra on :) I guess it depends though from person to person. I have very perky boobs since they're not really huge and they're shallow so there's not much that can actually reach the level of my underbust, if that's understandable haha. So for me I guess it's best measuring without a bra on, but I can see how having bigger boobs that do reach the level of the underbust without a bra on could make it more difficult to get an accurate measurement.
This would explain why 34's always feel so big! *mind blown* Why hadn't I thought of that? I am 33.5'' without a bra. I like a really snug feel and I never get that with a 34 back. Normally I get the right volume with 34GG. I think I'll start ordering 32H and see what happens.

As far as I'm aware, Claudette was supposed to be releasing bras in 28 band this spring. Has anyone encountered them in the wild? The smallest band size I've seen is 30 thus far.

No, but the mental image of bras out in the wild....
I haven´t seen them either, but I did see the new colours and they were just lame compared to the previous neon colours! :(

I finally had some time today to enter some reviews on recent and not-so-recent bra purchases. I'd still like to get around to entering some more. But for now, you can discover my thoughts on the following bras: from Cleo there's the Natasha Balconnet, the Darcy Padded Balconette and the Lucy, followed ... up by a Mimi Holliday Angelique Jet Lace & Silk Satin Maxi Bra and last but not least, an Ewa Michalak S Wiśniówka!
Going through my bras reminded me: I'm going to need to re-measure the cup widths on some of my early entries because I think I included the wires themselves in the cup width which in hindsight makes no damn sense, what was I thinking?
Anyway, enjoy

LOL about the width wire measurement thing.
I just sent a question about the width measurement. About 2 minutes ago.
I agree it should be without the wire, but I don't know if I thought about that when I first started measuring things either. Now I measure the cup width and depth starting just inside the wires. :)
I'm glad all of that is "standardized" now. I was measuring wrong before, so I have a lot of bras to update V.V

I'm starting to think that I should go for only banded and/or longline bras. (Not super longline, but ones like the regular Braologie or the Freya longlines.)
Since I'm shorter-torso-ed and have sternum/belly kind of protruding, all the "advice" I've read is that I should only go for non-banded and/or corded bras. But those don't seem to fit and tend to ... flip into me. Then again, I still haven't found my proper bra size in any brand/style yet, so I can't say how a properly-fitted one would really act on my body.
I think the ones with a wider 1-piece-all-around band in my proper band/cup combo would actually help keep the darn thing in place. And, maybe, it would help squish migrated tissue back to where it started? As long as they aren't crazy wide, maybe they wouldn't be too wide (tall) for my torso?
Oh, also I think that the wider bands are less stretchy and more stiff? I think I would like that.
Anyone squishier and/or shorter prefer banded or longlines?

I'm short-waisted and my torso is somewhat squishy - there's about an inch and a half to two inch difference between my tightest underbust measurement and my loosest underbust measurement.
I really like Freya's longlines: I have a 30G - Freya » Carys Longline (1313) and a Piper Longline and like them both, especially since they don't dig into my armpits. I think I also prefer the banded cups because they keep my breasts higher up where I want them. I'd like to try some longlines in other brands, like there's this one Cleo longline that I'd love to track down but I never see it in my size :'(
Thanks for the input, brasockpuppet.
I just browsed through a bunch of the Freya longline pics and for those that seem similar to me in relative height/shape, it looks like they fit pretty well. I think I'm going to have to start keeping an eye out for deals on these.
I'll let you know if I come across any good deals for cleo longlines in your size. :)

I think you can set alerts on eBay, many old models show up there.
Here, you can also set up listings notifications, and recently I added the option that you can search also by model, so you can know whenever some old model you want gets listed... if any :P
http://www.bratabase.com/listings/notifications/
I have notifications here and on ebay, but everything I want is always in the wrong size :[ Actually I've noticed I'm getting notifications for all sizes from here even though I've listed a range of sizes I want to be notified for; I dunno if I'm doing it wrong or what, haha
Thanks for the advice, though! I think I just have to be patient now, and I am awful at that.
