I recently lost about 15 pounds - back to the weight I was when I first found extended cup sizes and had that revelation many of us have had. I immediately dug out the bras, mostly 40FFs, thinking that I'd immediately fit into them. The bands fit, but the cups do not. So, I trekked to the ... closest store with extended sizes - a Nordstrom in the US - and tried on about ten bras. I tried one 38, the rest 40s, and from FF to H. Elomis have fit me well and many of the 40FFs were Elomit, so I tried Persia, Rita, Eva, and several others I don't remember. Lo and behold, I'm not a 40 FF, I'm now a 40GG???? The Eva was a 40G and I had tissue spilling over the top. I was really surprised. The Rita, in a 40GG, fit beautifully, so I brought it home with me. One of the others did fit in a 40G, but I can't remember which one.
Is it common to have cup sizes vary that much over time? It never occurred to me that I would be the same weight and need a different size bra that I'd been wearing. Or has Elomi changed their sizing? I doubt it. I've never had my breasts change much from hormones or water weight, so this is sort of new to me.
Huh. Well, so much for the 10-15 bras that I thought I'd be able to wear. Now I guess I get to go shopping . Part of me wants to wait - there are more options in 38s than in 40s and if I lose a few more pounds, I might be able to try brands that I've usually sized out of. In the meantime, I'm still wearing the 40FFs much of the time - mostly it's just a bit of tissue at the top of the cup that spills and I rarely wear tight clothes that show that. Hmmmm - maybe that's the issue - that I've become more top heavy instead of pretty even and I need to look for bras that are more open at the top...not sure...

To me anyways, the band should strictly be dependent on your own preferences. Funnily enough, I have the exact same measurements as you but I prefer my bands to be true to my resting measurement at 26 inches. I know that slimmer measurements should normally have some inches added for comfort, but I simply love the snug fit of a 26 band and I feel that it gives me the best support. I don't have perfect posture but a snug band definitely helps in my experience. Band measurement is not solely dependent on numbers as ribcage shape definitely comes into play as well; goes to show that bra fitting is highly personal and how complex it could be.
