Bra laundry questions

I mostly wash my bras by hand. In the past I sometimes used to wash them in the laundry with a wool program on low temperature. But then an accident happened in which my old Daily Boost that used to be my sleep bra died. Okay - the bra hid somewhere between pyjamas and bed sheets and got accidentally washed with the usual laundry which killed it. (It was totally ruined, I could just throw it away afterwards)

Anyway since then I am super paranoid about putting a bra in my washing machine again. Nothing ever happened when I washed them with the wool program though I'm still scared that the same thing that happened to my Daily Boost could happen to my bras in the laundry.

Now I am currently clearing out a lot of things and listing a lot of bras for sale that have been laying around for a while and I want to give them all a quick wash but it would take me DAYS to handwash all them ...

So what is your experience with washing bras in the washing machine? What precautions should one take? Can one wash different coloured bras together (if you choose to wash them with cold water )? (I cannot do as many wash cycles as I want since I don't have my own washing machine )

  • They make bra washing balls that would help. The majority of damage would come from being tossed around in the washer so the ball would keep it contained. BUT, I have no idea if they make ones for big bras. I'd say tie them in a pillowcase, hook the bands so they loose hooks won't tear at delicate fabrics, wash darks with darks and lights with lights, use a gentle soap, and hang dry.

  • How big are your bras? I've seen a bra washing ball on Ebay that pops up from time to time. It says D-G, not quite sure how big that is but I'm sure they provide the measurements for the ball. You could compare it to your bra cups folded into each other :) I'm a 30F so I'm pretty sure my size would fit. I really hope yours does too...
