  1. Sophia Lace Bra (2435)

    Didn't fit

I bought my first Le Mystere Sophia Lace Bra a very long time ago randomly from Nordstrom Rack, and I have loved it ever since. I bought the bra in 30C and it seemed to fit quite well before scooping. It gave a really nice rounded, lifted shape, and I was impressed by how TTS the 30 band was.

However, now I realize that this bra was always too small for me, since I was not a 30C at the time I purchased it and was actually a 30D. It is a plunge cut and the shape of the cup is somewhere between the Masquerade Alice ... and Ewa Michalak M, so it is designed for FOT shapes, and can accommodate more upper fullness, which is why I wasn't totally spilling out of the 30C despite it being too small. Recently, I was able to pick up three bras in 30DD/E, which is my current normal sister size and my normal size in Le Mystere.

However, as I had to size down in the Masquerade Alice to a 30D, it looks like I will need to size down in this bra as well, since I am not very full on top. I also found that the 30DD/E is designed to be too wide for my frame, so the outer cups are too high under my arm, and every time I move, it gaps horribly. There is also some slight gapping in this size when just standing. It seems to run a half cup big, though probably not a full cup big. The depth of this size is actually a little shallower than Alice in 30D.

In addition, the bottom of the cup is quite shallow and there is not much immediate projection. Because of this, I believe there's a bit of a manufacturing issue when molding the foam for the cups, as on some of the Sophia bras, I've noticed a bit of a ridge where the bottom of the foam meets the wire, so that there is no room for the breasts to sit right against the wire. It is more prominent on some of the bras I have tried than others, so I don't think this is intentionally part of the design. In this bra, it is very prominent. Because of this, and probably because the wires are too big, I found that the bra wouldn't sit properly and there appeared to be space at the bottom of the cup, when in reality I think it's just the shape of the foam that's stopping the wires from sitting properly.

However, the bra is super pretty, and I just love the way it looks. The outer cup is covered with a layer of floral jacquard lace with a slight crossdye effect. The cradle and band are also fully covered in lace. I like that the band is actually made from mesh topped with lace, and has a proper wide bottom edge elastic, so it's not one of those flimsy lace bands that so many brands love to make. While it's narrow, it actually feels firm and supportive! The straps are narrow, but they do get a bit wider as sizing goes up. The front of the straps is covered with textured picot edged ribbon, while the adjustable portion at the back is plain satin. Fully adjustable straps would have been better, but the length of these isn't too bad. The only decoration is a lace bow at the gore with a small teardrop crystal charm.

I really wished that the 30DD/E bras worked for me, but it looks like I will need to hunt down a 30D to get my best fit in this style! Since I sized down to a 30D in the Masquerade Alice, I expect that the two bras to fit quite similarly in the same size.

I wore the Le Mystere Tisha Evolution in 30D regularly as my daily smooth cup bra for several months, and have am happy to stay that I love this style. However, the 30D has very narrow wires, and when I am fully scooped, there is some overflow at the top. Since this is an open balconette style, the problem is less obvious than it would be in a cup that is more closed on top, but it is finally time to size up, and I am so glad that I did!

Compared to most molded cup bras, the Tisha Evolution is one of the deepest styles I've ... come across, fitting about a 1/2 cup size larger in depth, while the wires are very narrow yet flexible. The 30D wires have always been too narrow for me, but thankfully the 30DD is much better in this regard. It gives a very lifted and pushed up rounded shape without any padding, and is my best fitting bra so far. I've gone ahead and picked up another one in the Natural colorway as well so I can replace the two currently in my closet that are too small.

Even though this isn't a full band bra, I find that it feels really secure and comfortable. The band is one of the most TTS 30s I've come across, and it's a really comfortable construction that feels snug without feeling tight. The entire bra including the band is made from a slightly shiny tricot material with a hefty 25% Spandex. (This fabric is advertised as having some kind of cool touch technology that lasts through a certain number of washes, but this is hard for me to tell, however it has held up very nicely through wash and wear, and doesn't show any snags despite the satiny fabrication). The elastic is enclosed within the wings and not visible, which is a unique construction detail I don't often see. The upper cups have a clean bonded edge. There is a bit of a leotard back, which is also nice. Straps are fully adjustable and are skinny but thick elastic, and they have a bit of texture to them, so I feel they will stay in place better than many other bras.

Aesthetically, it's sleek, simple, smooth, and sophisticated. It reminds me of an old Victoria's Secret Very Sexy bra that I owned and loved for many years. The only embellishment is rose gold hardware and a small LM circular charm at the center front, plus the aforementioned strap elastic detail. I love every part of this bra, but one thing I noticed is that the back hook section feels like stiff plastic, and this was odd enough I thought it was a fluke, but I ordered 3 more of these and they are all made from the same material. This could be uncomfortable to some, but it wasn't noticeable when worn.

I have finally found my perfect t-shirt bra, and I highly recommend this style. One other point that truly impressed me-- I ordered 4 total bras in the same size, and all of them measured very close, and several of them measured identically. Since I've had experiences with some bra models varying significantly in measurements, this was a pleasant surprise. A fantastic find!

I like this bra a lot. Along with the Wacoal Perfect Primer Underwire Bra, this is my go-to staple for daily wear, and I've got two of them (bought the second one when I saw it on sale by chance). I realized that one thing I care about is the comfort of the band: even for a well-fitting bra, I often find that the edge of the band digs into my skin in an uncomfortable way. This bra has a very soft, smoothly lined band that feels wonderful against my skin. It doesn't fit *quite* as well as the Wacoal: I occasionally have to readjust my breasts throughout the day, because they spill out a little if I move a lot (though I also spend my commute hunched over a bicycle, which may be related).

I recently realized to my horror that I've been wearing cup sizes that are too small for me, so over the summer I replaced my bra wardrobe with properly-fitting unlined bras. Now that it's getting cooler out, I've started the process of replacing all of my molded cup bras too. Since I've been experiencing a fair amount of tissue migration, I've gone up about half a cup size and am pretty solidly between 30D and 30DD, however this has become challenging in terms of finding a great-fitting molded cup bra. After trying on many different styles and sizes, I have happily come across the Le ... Mystere Tisha Evolution--a totally random purchase thanks to Nordstrom Rack that checks all the boxes!

One of the biggest problems I've come across in molded cup bras while being between sizes is that 30D cups tend to be too shallow, therefore they flatten me out, but 30DD cups can get too tall under the arms and also have wires that sit too far back on my ribcage. The most unique aspect of the Tisha Evolution is that the cups are a bit deeper than other bras of a comparable size, and the wires are also much longer. The wire length and projection is more like a 30DD while overall the cup height and wing height are like a normal 30D. This means the cups are roomy enough for me without going too big, thus giving me a nice rounded projected shape with no gapping.

At first, the bra looks a bit odd, because the wires are actually very narrow and look like a deep U. However, the wires are very flexible and mold to your shape when worn. The cups stretch horizontally about 1"/2 cm when worn, so they are actually closer to a 5"/12 cm cup width rather than the measurements listed. I also like that the cups are not too tall and not too short, since overly short cups make me feel like I'm spilling out, and tall cups just feel a bit ridiculous on my petite frame. It's more or less a balconette cut, but perhaps a modest balconnette cut. The only potential issue I can see is that the gore is on the taller side, but it isn't a problem for me.

28E Update: After wearing this bra for several months as my daily T-shirt style, I've concluded that the narrow wires aren't working for me. While they do expand to the right width, their natural tendency is to shrink down to a narrower width, so at the end of the day, I can see that the wires are sitting on my tissue based on the marks that they leave. A great bra but I'd recommend for narrow shapes rather than wide.

Pretty, but doesn’t hug the boobs, so they ooze out. Also the cups slightly turn out, so the line shows through.

Hi! You might like to post this as a fit request, as you have noted there are some things that aren’t fitting well. There are some wonderfully knowledgeable people here who can help give suggestions of things to look for in future bras.

    • It is a pretty fabric. I hate hate hate when the cups turn put like that! So annoying!

    • Yeah, this happens to me on every bra like this. At some point, I just started to assume it was something to do with my particular anatomy and softness. Or that all bras just do that for everyone.

Pretty bra! I hope you find a better fit for you.

    • Molded cup bras like this are pretty, but can be notorious for not fitting well, because if your breast isn’t that particular shape, you are out of luck, haha. You will spot lots of bras on here that aren’t molded cups, because lots of people find them easier to fit, and there are some really popular ones on here that are this molded cup style too. In the pictures this cup looks like it is definitely too small to provide good comfort, shaping and support. Have you entered all of your measurements and seen what size the calculator suggests to you, so that you can start trying some new bras? The for sale section on this website is a great way to browse for new bras without having to spend an arm and a leg trying new styles.

This was an impulse buy when the bra I was wearing at the time broke. At first glance it is very comfortable and flattering, however as the day goes on the bra ends up getting pushed down. The wire does not stay in my IMF whatsoever. I also get gaping at the top of the cup and the side of the cup, while overflowing at the gore and wrinkling at the bottom of the cup. This bra is not a good shape for me at all but someone who needs less projection might find this to be a great fit.

This bra unfortunately did not suit me https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" />

Underwire runs wide for my frame, and I found my breasts positioned very east-west and with flatness at front of my chest.
Moulded bra, I filled at the sides but not at the top or front (my breast tissue is soft).

Straps very widely set - slip off very easily.

Cup to big in front, too small on the sides.

Molded cups, so hard to see that I'm not filling them.

    Band tighter than most 34".

About me: petite with wide horizontal oval, slightly conical breasts
    * average projection
    * wide-set (3 fingers width of space between breasts)
    * very wide roots (extend past the mid-axillary line)
    * short roots
    * even horizontal fullness (just barely outer full)
    * mix of firm & soft tissue (front molds to shape of bra, sides push wimpy wires away)
    * conical shape (but will squish to round)
    * full on top (2/4 shape, not even or very full) - BUT functionally even to FOB due to short roots and soft tissue
    * petite (5'3") so have narrow frame

I have narrow root, low set, FOT breasts, & this bra fits me perfectly. There is enough room at the top of the cup for my breasts but i also fill out the bottom of the cup with no wrinkling (a problem i usually have with underwire styles that have no band under the wires). It has 3 rows & columns of hooks (Yeay!). The straps and band are firm, but stretchy, comfy & stay in place. (All non-racer straps fall off my shoulders bc i have to buy demi styles and my shoulders are more narrow than bra makers think a 34DDD should be.) The wires are ... wide enough to contain all breast tissue. I think it is very pretty, &gives a rounded shape under clothes. According to another site, it has 1/8" padding, but that can't be correct; it seems more like 1.5-2 mm to me. The only problem i might have is that the cups might be a little too high under my armpit, but i love the bra so much that, if it becomes uncomfortable, i will have it altered in that spot. In my opinion, it is true to size in the band and the cups. (I wear a 34E in most Freya and Parfait.)

Thought I would give this one a try, looked promising in pictures, but I underestimated how much a "full cup" bra this is. It was slightly wrinkly at the top and looked unflattering. Very good for full coverage.

Brand new, this fit like a 30" band; I had to start off with an extender. Eventually it was able to stretch up to 32", but it distorted the wires somewhat. It measures 31.5" while I'm wearing it.
Padded restricted stretch straps are only partially adjustable; short and feel very tight; don't stretch much. They are also wide-set.
Cups: good cleavage bra; lots of lift, fair projection and I don't fall out. The same shape of the top band across the cups which prevents me from falling out also cuts in & flattens out my center fullness, creating a bit of quadding above the gore. Thankfully, it doesn't show under ... a shirt. Seamed cups are faintly visible under a T-shirt. If I could lengthen the straps just a little and round out the center of the cups then the quadding would go away.
Capri Floral colorway: pretty shades of pastel blue and lavender on a solid gray background.

Edit: after all this time, I've finally had a 'ta-da' moment that this bra became a diagnostic for me. I came to the realization that this bra (and others like it) is better suited for someone with a straight torso. It's not that the band is too tight (because it's not) but that it does not accommodate a wide V shaped back (aka Lats) very well. Meaning, the top of the band is the same circumference as the bottom, resulting in compression of the Lats/back fat.

Second edit: why does Bratabase still list this as "It Fits!" when I've marked that the straps are too short?

Great construction: no exposed elastic; double layer band; fully adjustable, restricted stretch straps; 3x3 hooks are embedded in a compressed panel.
Great fabrics: "Cool Touch" microfiber. Soft contour cups: very slightly lined, no padding. Wears like a spacer fabric (Nips may show a bit), but more supportive.
Long "U" shaped wires. However the gore is tall and buckles between my close-set shape; pulls away from my sternum, forms itself into a "^", doesn't sit flat at all. The outer wires were well under my armpits until I loosened the straps as far as possible. Then the bra was able to settle lower on my torso and no longer uncomfortable under the arms.
Wings are tall, but not uncomfortable (once straps were adjusted properly).
Straps are wide-set; causes friction at the armpits and the cups to buckle once I start to move around. No quadding or empty space around the wire at all.

Bottom line for me: IF ONLY the gore was set shorter/the wires a little shorter, AND the straps were not so wide-set...

Consistent with the "Capri Floral" I have, this one's band starts out very tight and accentuates back fat. I use an extender making the band one set of hooks larger, and then the back fat is less of an issue. (The 34" band is too big and is still a problem in the back.) Eventually the band relaxes and I stop using the extender.
The straps are also tight, but that's more because they're short and have restricted stretch to them, plus the fact they're only partially adjustable.
Cups are thinly padded overall which I find is kind of warm for Summer. To me, the Safari ... is better suited for cooler temperatures. (Despite many other bras may have a similar type of padded lining, they seem to breathe better than this does.) The seam in mid-cup does show under a thin shirt, but still a lot less noticeable than a bra covered in lace. The shape of the cups is kind of unusual... Nicely rounded from the side profile, but it rather flattens above the seam (in the area of the Safari pattern), which makes a modified pointed profile at any angle other than a 90° sideways view. On my larger side only, I get a bit of buckling in the bottom of the cup, above the wire (where I guess I could use a little more projection). I'm not spilling into the middle, so I don't mind.
The gore is nice and low...stays out of the way.

Edit: As several months have now gone by, I use these in rotation with all my other bras (I also have a few colors of this style now), I have found now that the bras are 'broken in', the cups have relaxed quite a bit and every one of my Safari's cups buckle, just above the wires. I think my first instinct of it not having enough depth was correct, but it doesn't show under clothing and it's still generally comfortable. However, I do wish the straps were longer, which is a completely different issue.

No info out there that I could find for this new "Modern Unlined" from Le Mystere...

Bandless front. Wires are tall on both ends. Even though the total height of the gore is slightly less than 2", because the gore is placed very high on the center wires, the gore refused to sit flat on my close-set shape (1cm, at best!)
Tall wings. No boning in the band. Band felt true to size. Very comfortable, except for the tall wires.
Stretch satin inside cups. Fine stretch knit fishnet-like lace on the outside. Good support. Perfect rounded shape. Despite no padding, erect nipples wasn't a problem.
Fully adjustable straps, flocked on the inside. ... Comfortable. Front straps are set closer together, much closer to above the apex.
Narrow set of 3 x 3 hooks in the back. The panel that the hooks are set into is thinner than most and very comfortable.

Bottom line: if only the wires were about 1.25"shorter overall (1" at gore, .25" at underarm) whereby the gore would be set lower onto the frame and not cut into my underarms, this would surely be my go-to bra!
So close and yet so far!!!
