I'm in love with so much about this bra: the fire engine red, all-over lace is stunning. The materials are lovely and soft. There is ample projection, but the cups also run at least half a size large and somewhat wider than I expected. Unfortunately, it's an incompatible shape for me https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" /> That red, though! A full review can be found on my blog.

The 30FF dimensions are larger than I anticipated, too. The color is gorgeous!! Thanks for your thorough review, beautiful photos, and measurements :-)

I finally tried this bra because I've seen multiple comments saying it it great for projected + FOT. My size seems to in between 28FF and 28G, and my shape is projected, FOT, narrow and tall roots, super close-set, soft and self-supporting.

I'm getting wrinkles at the bottom of the cups and near the nipple area. It seems like the projection is in the wrong places for me. The cup depth measures 11" which is a lot for 28FF, but there is not much projection near the wire. I'm also getting some wrinkles in the top of the cups on my smaller boobs.

I think this bra would fit someone who's reeeeally full on top and projected at the nipples but not at the wire.

    • I thought the Freya Rio was discontinued? I guess not though! I was wondering about this fabric, how would you describe it?
I don't think it would work for me, I need a lot of immediate projection.

    • 1

BraOdyssey It might be, but I still managed to find one! I would say the outer part is a bit rough (?) cause it's full on tiny "holes". But the inside is mesh so it's not uncomfortable.

    VERY pleased with this bra.
I don't get slight quadding when I scoop like with my Hopscotch Longline.
That is still one of my top bras, but I think I need a 30F or 28FF in this style.
Speaking of 30vs28.. I think I chose the wrong day to try this.
I was on vacation over the weekend, which inevitably means little sleep and always hungry.
I gained 3lbs, and 1-3 inches almost everywhere. It'll go away in a few days, but right now my ribs are measuring about 30.5" or more as opposed to 29.
    Sad.
But otherwise I love this bra.
The cups are just the right depth and the material is nice.
The wires ... are, as usual for half cups, too wide. They do not however come up too far, so it doesn't bother me under my arms.

I do want to make a note for sellers and swappers, and I want to bring this up in an adventure later, but please PLEASE wash your items before sending them.
I never had a problem with this until recently, and I've recieved 4 unwashed bras- a combo from ebay, here, and reddit.
It's not a big deal, but just out of consideration for whoever is ending up with your personal items.
I'm sure the majority of us do, but I've gotten 4 in a row, and one a few months ago, so I wanted to bring it up.
I look at it similarly to giving someone unwashed used panties. It's not as gross, but it's still kind of gross, especially when it is visibly dirty and smelly.
I did not receive this from Bratabase, which is why I'm bringing it up in this review since I don't want to make anyone feel awkward or bad. It's ok, just stop for pleases.

Anyway- this bra seems good for shallow, wide rooted boobs. It can work with projected, narrow rooted ladies, but I'd suggest moving up in the cup if that describes you. The wires don't come up far, so it's possible to get away with them, and they're not extremely wide, so it's not a huge problem. This bra does extend 1.5-2" from my actual boob though. If that sort of thing doesn't bother you, go ahead and try this.
I do wish I had gotten a bigger band in any case. I don't normally have an issue with longline bands being too big at all, and find them very supportive.
I'll be giving this a wash and deciding whether or not I can handle the band or want to swap for 30F.

In any case, this is a very pretty, comfortable bra. I'm glad to know going up a cup works.

Making sure the bra is totally dry before sending it is also important or else it starts to smell moldy.

    • 1

uniteacher I did that once with a skirt. I try to ship things as soon as I can, but that time I was apparently in too much of a rush. It took a week to get there and she said it smelled like a dirty basement. I felt so bad! I refunded her and now I wait longer to pack up. I'd rather be a slow shipper than have that happen again.

Queequeg0925 I love the just flew in, it's a pretty color and the birds are a nice pattern without being juvenile.

If you decide to list it, I have a 30F that i would love to swap!

    • uniteacher jlcl119 Oh gosh, yes! I accidentally did that once also, but didn't receive any bad feedback.
At the time, I was more worried about shipping late, but I felt so bad after thinking about it
      :(

    • 1

      jlcl119 I feel the same :)
I was a little concerned that I'd dislike the print, but I find it so much prettier in person, and I totally agree about the birds!

    • immodestmouse Yay! That makes me super happy :D
I'll let you know for sure by Friday, if that's ok?

I'd like the smaller band, and I did temporarily go up an inch or two, but just having it on for 10 minutes to take pictures today reeeally hurt my back, so right now I'm leaning more towards swapping and 30F sounds perfect :)

    • Yeah that's fine! It only stretches to exactly 30", so it wouldn't be too big of a jump, but just a little bit more room than the 28 :)

    • immodestmouse that's great :) I will let you know for sure then ^_^

The band size on this is much tighter than the Deco bra, so I'll have to wear this with a bra extender. The cups are similar in shape, but I think that they seem half a size smaller than with the regular Deco. This may possibly be because the center gore comes up higher in this version. When it comes to the strapless aspect, it stays up and still provides a nice shape. I also like the fact that this bra gives you some choice in how close together you want to place the straps.

I have been avoiding Freya bras because their unlined styles were always too deep at the apex while too closed on top for me. Still I purchased this bra because of the stretch lace in the top section, and I'm so glad I did because this bra is so beautiful and surprisingly fits well.

There is a good amount of projection with narrow wires. The stretch lace accommodates top fullness and tall roots very well. The wires are very U shaped which gives me room at the bottom of the gore that other bras don't. They go outwards not as rapidly at the bottom-inside. The gore is too high and wide for my super close-set breasts so I'm going to overlap it. Overall this bra gives a much better fit than expected.

My local specialty shop* had a 50% off moving sale. They decided that they would not be moving within the mall during renovations twice in a year, after they've had to move about once a year for the last few years. So they closed up, and shipped the remaining merchandise to their other locations, though neither of them are convenient to pop into on a whim one night as this one was for me.

This is one of the styles that I tried and came very close to buying. I didn't buy it in the end though. I'll explain later...

So, I'm no stranger to the Deco, as I ... have had a Spotlight for many years in a 32DD. I have a review for this one in my profile. That one fits me pretty well, but is a little small in the cup because I have only been swooping and scooping since late 2016, and my Spotlight Deco predates that. Also, I'm in smaller backs now and the Spotlight is maxed out and on the tightest hooks and feeling loose.

The one that I have in this review is a 28FF, so it's 2 sister sizes down but with a cup volume up. My main goal in trying this size was 1) could I actually pull off the 28 band and 2) could I pull off the extra cup volume up and 3) using this information, determine if I needed a 30 band and which cup volume was better.

This bra fit me surprisingly well, although I did find the band to be a little bit snugger than I am comfortable with. It was closer to the band fit of my Comexim Victoria in 60HH. It felt like it was just under a 29" stretched measurement (but I didn't have the foresight to bring the measuring tape to grab measurements in addition to the fit). I might have been able to wear it all day but I might be more consciously aware of it during the day unless I had an extender with it. From a technical fit standpoint, this size is the right size. From a comfort standpoint, a 30F is probably the better fit for me. I also love that it has a j hook which is adjustable in height so that I didn't have straps on my shoulder blades. Straps felt a bit snug too, but I could have loosened them.

I obviously love the shape and support of the Deco if I was considering a second one. Naturally, I had the same awesome cleavage that Decos are known for with this one as I did with my original Spotlight. I absolutely love this green! So so much! SO MUCH YOU GUYS! I love the texture of it on the side as well. What I did not like so much is the leopard print trim and bow, although I think it's a good combination of colours. And perhaps I could have gotten used to it. I think that it looks really good against my pale skin.

    Why I decided against it...

    1) I struggled with the leopard a lot
    2) it was still tight and I would have to find an extender and I am tired of extenders on multiple bras.
    3) half price was still over $40 and Amazon had other prints and colours in 30F that were less
    4) I wasn't even sure that I should have another Deco, because I have been getting pretty decent cleavage and shape with my Ewa Michalak plunge which is softer and lighter than the Deco...not as much boob armour.

I still think about this bra and other Decos and think that if I can Deco, I should Deco, and that I should retire and replace my old Spotlight. I have had an eye on the burgandy Amore but I'm focused on other bras for now.

*well, one of two, but the other one doesn't have the same brands and variety as this one did

Wow, the green looks perfect on you.Too bad they didn't have a 30F.

“Boob amour” is the reason why I didn't get a Deco yet. The Patsy is more tolerable but still to much for a 32°C / 90°F -day. In fact I'm already dying in my mesh bras at these temperatures.

As usually with Freya the band is very loose (my personal opinion is that Freya follows the +2 idea of fitting) and I could use a band size smaller. The bra itself is very nice looking - delicate and lacy. For fit: there is no way this cut of bra will work for me. The cups are too tall and the apex too high. I fill out the bottom fine so I couldn't size down. Really, the best thing would be for Freya to start making the Freya Gem Half Cup (1363) in a 28FF and higher.

  9. Deco Moulded Strapless Bra (4233)

Cups filled perfectly. No gap at the top (unlike the regular freya deco in my usual size- 28FF) and absolutely no spillage. (Usually I can only get one or the other.)

Nice and tight band, but not too tight. I might need to go to the middle hook if I was to wear it strapless just to be on the safe side.

Totally comfortable. No "adjusting" as the day goes on. It's my favourite fitting bra right now, and also my first strapless bra that fits properly. I can't say if it stretched out yet because I haven't worn it all that much. It's my only strapless so ... I don't want to wear it out before I need to use it as strapless. I'll probably get another before summer so that I have a good tank top option bra (adjustable straps, and I will probably hook up some clear straps if needed.)

    UPDATE:
This bra no longer fits, I lost 5 pounds and 2-3 cup sizes (right when I was starting to build a nice base of bras to wear too....)

I repurchased this bra in a 28F when I realized I had lost some breast volume, and when I got it it fit perfectly. Again, no gaps or spillage. The fit didn't last for long, and now it is too big. I still wear it when I need a strapless bra with my dresses that have skinny straps, I just use those clear bra straps. It is not ideal, but it works for right now, and the only way to notice the incorrect fit is when the dress is off- so it works for now since my dress is usually on... https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />

I plan on repurchasing this bra again, I am just trying to decide between a 28E and a 28DD. Time for me to start comparing other bra measurements!

  10. Taylor (4971)

Heads up to anyone wanting to try this bra: It does infact run 1 cup size too small, compared to the Freya Deco, even though it's built off the same base and style. Then again, I've also heard Deco runs 1 cup size too large, but I disagree.

    Measurements are as follows:

    Stretched Band: 27.5"
    Band Length: 24"
    Cup Width: 6"
Cup Depth: 9" (pretty similar to my 28F Deco's)
    Wire Length: 9"
    Cup Seperation: 1"
    Strap Width: .75"

    Pros:
I just got this in today so I can't comment on durability, but it fits (in terms of feel) the same as Deco. Structure is good, however the top edge of the cup still looks a little funny ... on this because of the sewn-in detail. It seems to be unavoidable, though in the smaller size I returned it was more noticeable since the cups were too small my breast tissue was pushing on the detailing causing the edge to curl out more.
The band feels a little firmer than the smaller cup size, and it is short by a half inch. Not a whole lot but for me it makes all the difference. I can close this on the loosest setting comfortably, but am able to make it to the middle.

    Cons:
This does not give as rounded of a profile as Deco, most likely because of the detail. But it's certainly not an overly pointy one...just very...perky (I'm not too crazy for that look, so this is a con for me. Not a really negative of one.)

    28F reviewed here: http://bratabase.com/browse/freya/taylor-4971/28F/

I think this was worth the 2 month wait =)

  11. Retro Basic (3411)

This bra is still new, just one day of wear. The bra is a bit unusual, with the back being perhaps the most apparent deviation from typical bra design. It has a single hook rear closure and a band design that leaves an almost-open back. The back have a couple of straps that come to this single hook closure. Where the back straps change back to a more typical "band", there is a bit of boning in the bra. It's not overly harsh or uncomfortable, it's just enough to keep the band upright. In the front, the straps have the typical Freya placement - closer to middle than ... on a Panache, perfect for me. In the rear, the straps are more wide-set than most.

This is a plunge design, and it's definitely plunging. Additionally, this unusual design to the back gives me the impression the bra is designed to work with some of those "open back" dresses, as well, which would require a lower bra in the back and straps that are wider in the rear. I don't own any dresses like this, so I can't test this theory myself, but it's something worth keeping in mind.

This different back design (both band and straps) are completely forgotten about as I go about my day. This bra is equally comfortable as my standard daily wear bra. The "flaw" that would keep this from being a daily bra for me is the seams - they're visible through some of my shirts.

I tried this bra on in 30F awhile back in a Nordstrom but it was only for try-ons. I decided to order this as part of a big HerRoom order.

The fabric isn't super soft, making it kind of uncomfortable ― it sort of makes my nipples itchy? It's a good fit (this is definitely my cup size), but the gore is slightly too high and cuts in a little bit. It's pretty narrow and projected for a non-Polish bra, which is nice. It also doesn't give me the Madonna silhouette that a lot of unpadded bras do, though I admit my boobs look a little lackluster in a bra like this compared to, say, my Ewa Michalak CHPs, lol. I think I will hang onto this bra, but I won't wear it as much as my comfy EM bras.

I don't really understand/need the "side support" thing, I don't think, but this bra does keep me in place all around. It definitely lessens bounce.

My shape is low set, short and narrow rooted, and soft.

I thought this bra looked summery and pretty in the pictures. I bought it from Belle Lingerie. It reminds me of my 30F - Bravissimo » Esther Longline Bra (LN354) except not a longline. I am recently trying 28" bands since I lost weight and my 30" bands are feeling a little unsupportive lately. This one, however, stretches to about 30". Although it felt fine and I could wear it like that on a tighter hook, it didn't feel snug like I hoped.

This is called a half cup, but it's cut more like a ... balconette (4 part cup construction), and I get more of a balconette shape in this (not as rounded/cakes on plates). I do get some quad boob in this, especially on my larger side (which is most obvious in the side profile picture), and it's not great for centre tissue. The gore is a bit wide as well, and I get some side boobage escaping because the wings are too short on my tall, low set frame. There's no chaffing though, so it would be fine for someone who doesn't need really tall wings.

The great thing about this bra is that it is really super comfortable right out of the box. I'm debating if I should keep it or return it. I love the wide straps (which are fully extended to try and get rid of the quad boob). It's close to fitting, but I'm at my smallest right now and still getting quad boob, so I'm not sure if I'll reach for it if I keep it. I already checked and they do have it in 28G, so I may do an exchange....we'll see.... The band just might be too loose on this one for me.

    • Yeah Freya bands can run stretchy. It’s cute. But I see the wide gore. Yikes I bet it fits you like a balconette due to the height of the cups. That has happened to me before.

    • Calluna They do have it in a 28G, so I'm gonna wait until my Comexims arrive and then decide if I try it in a larger cup. If they do, I'll order it as a set.
It's not just that it fits me like a balconette, but it doesn't have the cut of a half cup. Typically half cups don't have that upper horizontal section. In the description they call it a balcony and a half cup, so who knows. All the balconettes/balcony bras I've tried have that 4 part cup construction.

    • Oh that bra looks so nice on you! Shame it didn’t fit as expected.
I wish I can wear Freya’s :( their wires always cause me but of pain, sane as panache :(

    • Thanks martka00 . I'm not sure if 28G will be too big, but I want to try it. This bra was really really comfortable, so it would be worth it I think. The wires don't usually bother me in freya for some reason.

    • I love this fabric--so pretty. Hope your Comexims fit

    • Thanks Love4Pollinators , I'm looking forward to tearing into that box and trying them on !

I ended up finding a 28G on ebay (still from belle lingerie) but for several dollars cheaper than from their site direct, so I ordered it to try it. Fingers crossed it works. I have a feeling I'm back to being just the right size to be between sizes again though, so the 28G is probably going to be too loose. We'll see.

Sigh, I wanted to love this bra. It is so gorgeous. The materials are soft and the lace overlay is smooth under clothing. Sadly, the fit is not quite right for me. The cup is just too wide for me and the wire is far too long on under the arm. I think this bra might work much better on someone a little taller and with a less petite build. The band is surprisingly firm and TTS.

From what I can tell, a little-talked about Freya. This must be a much older style for Freya, as the band is actually TTS, if not small, and the fabric is stiff and supportive. A little interesting to have a look back at what Freya was, vs what they tend to mass-produce now. In a nutshell, it's good for narrow roots, average projection, and even fullness.

If you would like a more detailed descriptionof this bra style, please go read my review for Freya's Rio bra in size 28F. Thank you!

This bra fit me better than the size 28F bra, although I still experienced poking from the underwires and wrinkling where the cup meets the strap. I found that the poking is particularly bad in the center gore area. I have experienced this with every single balconette style that i have tried so far, no matter how well they fit me, so I am coming to the conclusion that I will e needing a lower-cut style such as a plunge bra.

If you find the mesh material slightly itchy in che cup, please give it a wash or two and it will go away. I would also like to note that the band might be a little tight (and I should technically be wearing a 26 band size), but this will also lessen after a few wears. This style isn't my favorite bra, but it could be a lot worse.

TLDR didn't fit me, but its really cute and soft and i really had high hopes when I bought it. I've been so bummed out about this not fitting that I've avoided writing a review for it tbh.

    DESIGN:
When I saw this in the online store and for a decent price, I just HAD to try it. It looks good in pictures and it holds up in real life. There's three different kinds of lace, each with its own pattern. The bottom 2/3rds of the cup have this flowery lace and by flowery lace i mean the lace itself is weaved in various flower patterns. It is heckin ... cute. The top 1/3rd has vertically stretchy lace weaved in a diamond pattern (extremely stylish!) and the cup edge is another separate piece of very elastic lace, weaved like a band with lots of holes in it. The cups are lined with non-stretch power mesh. The wings have stretch mesh. The straps are shiny, lined with little lace hoops and just a little wider than I'm used to (1,5cm). I got the feeling the straps would be hard to adjust because of the hoops (loops?), but when I tried adjusting the straps, it was easier than on most bras! The decoration on the gore is stylish, more elegant than cute.

Let's just briefly mention that COLOR tho. It's red, but somewhere around wine red and wine purple. It looked hella good online and I still like the color when I have the bra in front of me.

    FIT:
Ah yes, the fit. For me it was not good. Plunge styles never work for me because of my pendulous inner full/vertically even shape, I always spill out the middle. This bra was no exception. There wasn't enough immediate projection as well so my breasts were pushing the cup away from my body and not filling out the bottom of the cup. The cup edge was cutting in to my inner fullness also. At the time of writing this in February, I haven't tried this on since April last year. It didn't fit the first time and since then my band size has increased, and I haven't really felt like trying on a bra that's gonna be too small even with an extender.
I think one of the reasons this bra was a poor fit is partially a clear shape mismatch, and partially some pretty stretchy cup fabric. I need firm non-elastic cup material for optimal fit.

    QUALITY:
This whole bra is so. SOFT. Everywhere I touch it it just feels velvety and silky and it is very pleasant! The wings' stretch mesh is really silky and the hook-and-eye closing part is so soft it feels like microfleece. All of the fabric used in the cup is silky and I don't think the fabric would be coarse or scratchy anywhere whilst wearing it. Even the wire channels are really soft to the touch.
It feels like a solid construction like a bra usually should. All the seams feel solid, nothing feels wonky or flimsy.

Too wide for me, and possibly a shape mismatch.

This bra is nice. It's soft, flexible, the gore is pretty narrow. Unfortunately, it is too wide for me.
