Were you successful on brangelizing (is that even how you call it? Lol) women? If so, how were you able to convince them?

In putting a bunch of my old bikinis on bratabase I've noticed that the sizes have changed drastically. I have a 32hh that fits way smaller in the cup than my more current 34ggs. I have older bras in 32h that fit me and yet more current a more current 32h is too big. And all the bikinis ... I've been buying fit me best in a 32g - that's a whole 3 cup sizes down in just a few years. If I didn't still have all my older bras and bikinis I would of just assumed my boobs are smaller now, but the old bras and bikinis to reference prove to me the difference. Anyone else notice this as well?

YES! Which brands are you referring to? Maybe it's a way for some brands to accommodate letterphobia yet still fit larger busts?
wendybien I especially notice it with freya bikinis. I would love it if panache bikinis did this too as I am sized out of a lot of their styles I like:)

I've just joined Bratabase, so now I've finished measuring all my bras, I thought I should stop by and say hi!
Anyway, there's a question that's been puzzling me for a while now that I'm hoping someone here will have an answer to, and that's how is it that companies like Marks and Spencers and Victorias Secret - reputable lingerie companies ... - end up producing such badly fitting bras? They must have huge numbers of people designing bras and making the prototypes, and models to fit them on to make sure they work, so they must know how a bra is supposed to fit, and yet they still end up recommending a 38B for someone with a 30" ribcage. How can that happen? What on earth goes wrong?
Apologies if it's been asked and answered before!

I'm a 36G and I was measured at a 44J (a while back when I was a bit bigger mind, but definitely not that big) at M&S. They use the old measuring system (+5 inches). I find their bras fit really oddly as well so you're not alone there!
No need to apologize. That question has been asked in numerous different ways, but it's still vexing. I think the answer is that they didn't become the giants of the industry because they make the best products but because they had the best marketing and popularity can be self perpetuating. They make products that "fit" a large portion of the population and have positioned themselves as being both affordable and a semi-luxury product. I think they get their hooks in early by appealing to a young age group. I was a devotee of Victoria's Secret or five years or so as a teenager. I wouldn't wear anything else. Neither would many of my friends. They sold exactly what I wanted and needed and I'd probably still shop there if they made my size. In fact, I wish other brands would copy what Victoria's Secret does. Or alternatively, I wish Victoria's Secret would expand their size range and improve their quality, but I don't think that is ever going to happen.

i dont personally have experience with this brand, but i figured it'd be worth letting others know as it seems to be fairly popular! im not sure how to link to the sale directly, but going to the New Today section on http://www.zulily.com should have it right there. happy shopping!

Does anyone know this? I think I read that Kris line runs about two cup sizes too small. Does anyone know how the cups. I remember reading they're not true to size from someone on bratabase or someone who writes a blog and is on bratabase.
This is important to know before you order any bras from them.
I think their cups go up in 2cm. Increments.
:D So maybe you take your breast perimeter and then look on a tape measure. So say like 9" in breast perimeter would be like approximately 23 cm. And I think every 2cm is one cup, so that would that mean that 22cm. Would be a GG Cup in Kris line?
I'm thinking the cups run small because there is a 2 cm. Difference between each cup size and that is less than 1 inch. ?
I know someone on here knows.... :D
They use more like European sizes I think- kinda like Comexim? I saw a table earlier today, let me find it to link!

I heard that Eveden brands (Freya , Elomi, Fantasie, Fauve) are going to start using EU cup sizes. So instead of the now very familiar (to me at least) double letters, they're going to be sized from D-O instead of D-K.
The different sizing has been confusing here in Europe. I guess they've affected US sales too. Now the sizes in upper cups should be easier to compare.
How long do you think until other brands follow, if they do at all?

Well, all Eveden brands already have EU sizes on their labels. Whatever version of EU they think is right. Which so far has been the same as their UK. Now the question is if they will be changing their current EU sizing. Really I think it is more likely that they change their US sizing after being acquired by @wacoal.
Again, this boils down to the fact that there is no one EU sizing, each brand makes up whatever they want. Kris Line dies their own version, Comexim also has their own, Ewa Michalak has cups that look like Eveden UK. Chantelle alsi has their own thing. Parfait By Affinitas has changed their minds a handful of times in the last years .
Anyway, what I think is harmful is to change whatever you are doing. Since there is no "right" way, then there is no "wrong". The way to screw up is to be inconsistent and that is by changing the way you do sizing.
But if we use cup index sizing then we're protected against the ;-)
There is indeed no consistent EU sizing system. Some European brands -- Change Lingerie and Chantelle for example -- do include a DD between D and E (but they don't use other double digits), but others (e.g. Triumph) don't. The Polish brands are again different.
Cup index sizing does indeed solve part of this problem, but it isn't exactly the holy grail either as many European brands use a 2cm increment between cup sizes whereas UK and US brands tend to use 1" (2.54cm).
It would, in my opinion, be great if a system emerged based on listing actual measurements, like cup depth or something, but even then I'm sure we would find issues with it ;)

I'd suggest Chantelle from across the (small) pond. Some of their larger cup models have this SUPER COMFY padded underwire where it's like a pillow over the underwire - it's the most comfy one I've ever worn.
i don't need larger cup. my size is 32 b/c....so i need a comfy one in smaller size.....
sorry this post is not from my side. i did on behalf of my sister. her size is 32 B.

Soooo I'm still on the search for the right bra. I feel like I'm getting close to a good fit in a couple of Curvy Kates. Perhaps the Lola and the Gia in 38J. I really really like the looks a lot of t-shirt/seamless bras give. I ALWAYS wear t-shirts/hoodies type of clothes, I never "dress up", and I like ... the minimizing look for my breasts. I don't like them "out there" and in the way, but I'm having a hard time finding a bra that fits AND gives me this sort of rounder shape. I'm close-set and have soft tissue, if that helps. I have a couple of Freya bras on order along with the two Curvy Kate's mentioned. I'm in the US and usually place orders with HerRoom and Bare Necessities. If anyone knows of any of these style of bras in the size range 38/40HH-J or so, please give me some suggestions. Thanks!

Seamless bras are few and far between in your size range. I am 36J/38HH, very soft tissue and the only option I have is Elomi Amelia/Hermione 38HH. They don't come to a J and the shape and support leaves something to be desired. If you are very close set the gore may be too wide for you. It is not an "upfront" look at all. If Curvy Kate works for you, try a Daily Boost( very hard fit for many ladies). Good luck!
I did try the Amelia in 38HH and you're right, the gore was too wide. I don't think the Daily Boost is going to work for me...It seems like the J cup is too big for me, but the HH gives me spillage. Thanks for the suggestions!

Well today I tried on about quite a few bras - Fantasie Smoothing T-shirt Bra 36G (cups way too deep), Freya Deco 36G which I will elaborate on later as this is what I ended up buying, Freya Flourish 36FF which surprisingly fit, some Debenhams own brand bras in 36G and also some M&S bras. The Deco seemed to be ... the nicest and I really needed a nude t-shirt style bra. I tried it on in a 34G as people say to go down a band and cup size but the cup was too small and the band was really tight, so I tried it in my normal size 36G and it seemed to fit. BUT wearing it at home under a tshirt rather than a thicker viscose shirt.... it looks awful!!! It is super visible under tshirts for me and I have no idea how to 'fix' this. Am I wearing a totally wrong size? Actually I have no idea why I chose the Deco as plunge styles don't really work for me (I get spillage at the gore usually)... arggh so mad at myself for getting this especially as I won't be able to return it for a while!!

Can you post a fit request?
I think I will do that shortly!
"Wearing a better-fitting bra will make your boobs look better" :P
I also have a big box of "rejects" in various sizes, so it's like, humor me- go try this on! And it's supportive and cute and they want one :P
