30DD - Wacoal » Embrace Lace Underwire T-shirt Bra (853191)
I liked the fit of this bra a lot, but I worried that the lace side bands would wear out quickly if it was for daily wear. I plan to own it soon.

Decent fit, though it could probably stand to be a little tighter in the band.

I've found a lot of blog posts, including some listed here, about how to take in a center gore. But I need good directions with pictures on how to widen one. Any recommendations? I'd like to learn to do this since it's a problem that I have with virtually all bras except a few Elomi models.

Feels very robust and supportive, almost architectural, like a work of structural engineering. Side wires and centre gore come up a bit high on me (I'm 5'2, with a short torso), so definitely not for low-cut tops. I'd say my main issue with this bra is the high, substantial centre gore. I haven't noticed the lace on the cups wrinkling ... on me. Comfortable band, but only a double hook. Thick, comfortable straps - however the giant bows on the strap show when I wear tank tops - I'm contemplating cutting the bows off, there might be a bit too much bow for me (there's bows on the back as well). There's some free-range lace below the band that flip up when I move around/sit/live. I don't feel like this bra lifts my boobs or gives me cleavage, but it definitely supports, encases and decorates.
Overall effect with matching shorts is very, very pretty. The coral is a particularly lovely colour for darker skin.

About 5 or 6 months ago I started on the hunt to find a bra that ACTUALLY FITS !! This turned out to be a lot more difficult that I thought it would be and definitely harder than it SHOULD be.
My measurements (in inches) are 31.5 for over bust, and 26 for under-bust. (And if it matters at all ... my hip measurement is 33.5 and waist is 26.5 I weigh between 90-98 lbs but it's not often that my weight reaches any higher than 95 lbs. My pant size is between a 1 and 3 so I wear both depending on what brand fits better, and I fit into the occasional 0, I am 5'2 with a shorter torso, my breasts are fuller at the bottom and outer sides, with little fullness in between and at the top)
I started with The Little Bra Company, I've always been petite and have always been self conscious of my breast size feeling like they are incredibly small. So in that that thinking I was very exciting to find The Little Bra company and was almost for sure I'd find a well fitting bra. At that time I was wearing mostly 34 B, and the occasional 32 B, or 32 Also naturally I started with a 28 B as the first bra I purchased, and the band fit wonderfully, but the cup was not even large enough to reach the upper half of my nipples, so I tried a 30 C and that was not much better.
The next step in my search was to look on the web and find some measurement sites online so I used those, which only confused me more. I got a different measurement for every site, and according to those I'm a 26 F, 28EEE, 30 DD, 30 A, 32 AA, 34 B. I know about sister sizes and all of that, but when you are told your bra size is an A, B, D, E, or F that's nothing but the opposite of helpful.
My search continued bra site, after bra site, purchase and return, purchase and return, over and over.
Finally, I bought three bras I felt I could be happy with on Bare Necessities (even after fitting with a fitting consultant that there is absolutely no way a 30 A was going to fit me when a 30 C didn't work) I settle for a beautiful red Natori Feathers Contour Plunge bra in a size 28 D, a sleek and simple black Calvin Klein: Seductive Comfort Customized Lift Push-Up bra in a size 30 D, and a plain nude Le Mystère: Tisha Seamless T-Shirt Bra in a size 30 D. At the time that I purchased these bras and felt comfortable enough after trying them on that I decided NOT to return I was ecstatic and thrilled that my search was finally over, I could live in peace for a while !!
BUT, now almost 4 months later and I'm questioning the fit all over again. The problems I had with the bras at the time I decided to keep them are just all to apparent now. I think they were just the closest to a good fit I'd found so I settled because of the rush of what a great feeling that was...
Let me explain my reasons for wondering if I should attempt the good-bra-fit-search again:
The @Natori although beautiful works well for now, because the band is perfect but if I grow even a millimeter bigger my nipples are going to be busting out the sides of the cups and sometimes I have a little bit of spillage at the outersides, the @Calvin Klein looks great in a shirt and is surprisingly comfortable, however the band has much more stretch than I'd like especially because a 30 band is already a bit looser than I'd prefer, I have very slight spillage at the sides with this bra sometimes too, but I think that may be due to the larger band and the @Le Mystère gives great support, and the band is perfect, but the cups just seem slightlyy too small; it's not a push-up at all, and my breasts have the least amount of fullness at top yet, the top of the cups seem to dig into the top of my boobs just a tad too much and sometimes that indent will show in t-shirts which is a shame because the bra gives really good shape and the seams don't show in a t-shirt.
I'm just beginning to feel frustrated all over again.
I'm wondering now if I need to try out a 28 DD, 28 E or a 30 DD ? Or am I as close as it is going to get ? Any suggestions ?

Please don't hate me for saying this, I know it was hard work typing out the whole explanation... but I think a fitting request would work a lot better for getting feedback. Most people including me will have more helpful insights if we can actually see the issues and check the objective measurements (yours and the bras') as opposed to reading a description.
Ah, shortgirlproblems. I'm there with you. I'm 4'10", short torso as well (though more *ahem* Kardashianly proportioned in the lower half) and a similar chest measurement. My first boutique bra was a 32C little bra company bra that didn't fit me either! Us shorties have the problems of too long straps and trying to figure out where the bra sits correctly without digging into our ribcage or underarms, too. It's a good time.
These bratabase ladies know their stuff though. It's a lot of info, but a fit request will really help you. IMO the most confusing but most helpful thing to figure out is your shape. I thought I was full on the bottom, but I'm actually full on top. My boobs are just a smidge lower than they used to be. :)

Is there' a glitch on the page? It's not updating for me. I love the bra bloggers! The last one I can see is fr hourglassy about the sister swap on august 8th.

yes there was a glitch, thanks for letting me know.
got my eshakti order today and was very dissapointed, not in the actual quality, but my choice of sleeves. for some reason i thought i could pull off capped puffy short sleeves with my broad shoulders.
boy was i wrong.
had to return.

Ah, sorry to hear this. :( I think I look weird with puffy sleeves too, but I have fairly narrow shoulders. I kept the one I got like that, but it's probably my least-worn eShakti item.
I was excited- my red eshakti dress came out fun. The only thing is that with cotton, I foresee ironing. I hate ironing. But worth it for retro cuteness :)

I just bought two gorgeous Avocado bras from WindieG (Undiegamer) on BraSwap, the Caprice and the Jewel, but I just don' think they fit (of the two the Jewel might be workable)! I really want to keep them but I just don't think I can, if anyone would care to put in their two cents I would appreciate it! They are listed under my bras, along with the photographic evidence of their fit.

They both look too small, too tight, and too narrow on you.
Yeah, sorry... I think you will regret it if you keep them. I don't know if they feel comfortable or not, but they're too small. You know if you so much as walk a block your boobs will be making a bid for freedom.

Ugh..... Just when I think I have my bras figured out something changes.... Just bought a 30DD (which I have 2 others in the same model) this one brand new worn twice needs the tightest hook and I'm majorly overflowing out the cups.....

I am tempted to keep a new bra that I have to start off wearing on the tightest hook...this has me wondering: what would you say the longevity of a bra that you start off on the loosest hook is compared to a bra started on the middle or tightest hook? I know there are many factors to a bra's ... lifetime but assuming all things are equal. I have never had a bra not worn on the tightest hook before now and didn't replace them when I should've so I have no comparison.
Edited to add: For those who like me having breasts on the smaller side with a small band size (I am about a 28d/30c) how do you tend to size in wireless bras and bralettes that tend to go xs-l? I am quite ill and pretty much in bed all day every day and these are a necessity for me. I am buying good soft cup bras too but I can't afford a lot because I am not well enough to work, plus I need bras without closures for when I am in the hospital etc. And they are so pretty!

Starting on the loosest hook extends the life of the bra for several months, at least. I would say for the bulk of the life of a bra, it could be expected to be on the middle hooks. The loosest hooks for a few weeks during break in, the tightest only around the time your bra is getting very stretched out and dying. I always sort of think of the tightest hooks as the sign that 'okay, I'm on the tightest hooks, which means I had better order a replacement for this bra soon.'
That said, you can always alter the band to be a little smaller if the bra fits very well otherwise, either now, or as it starts to stretch out.
There is also a big difference between a bra you CAN start on the tightest hooks and one you NEED TO start on the tightest hooks which is worth bearing in mind. The bra needs to be firm enough to support you and not move around, but it doesn't necessarily need to be as tight as you can go and still breathe properly. (everyone has varying levels of comfort, so there's a degree to which personal preference plays a part) I generally like a firm band, but I've been wearing them a bit looser lately because certain fabrics seem to be less itchy that way, and I don't seem to have sacrificed any support by doing so.
I can't offer any insight on your second question, as I'm not in a size range where they're remotely feasible, but I'm sure someone else will have insight there.
Well, it's hard for me to compare, because I had a "tightest or middle hook" phase in my life (when I was a young woman in France and a bit slimmer--plus, frankly, they didn't have any bands smaller than the 32s I was wearing so I didn't have lots of other options!) and since gaining some weight post-kids I am usually very comfortable starting out on the loosest hook the way you're supposed to, so that's what I always do.
BUT with that caveat that I was at two different sizes (32E versus 32G) to be perfectly honest, I did not find that my bras wore out much faster when I started them on the middle or tightest hooks. I had a large-ish rotation (6-10 bras) and hand washed and line dried my bras, and they were what most people here would consider expensive (Chantelle or other equivalent French brands), so that could have worked in favor of longevity... nicer materials and whatnot. However, I also subjected them to a fair bit of abuse as there was no such thing as a sports bra in my size back then, and I was a relatively active young woman. I didn't run, but I walked 2-3 hours a day (not strolling at the mall walking but walking for fitness) and went dancing at least a couple times a week. So those bras saw a good bit more movement and sweat than the ones I wear nowadays!
Your question prompted me to take pictures today as I created a wider gore on a bra. Since I'm new to blogging, I don;t yet have this posted anywhere. Yet if you'd like to e-mail me at hnilickaj@yahoo.com, I'll be glad to send them and instructions.
