Wow, the level of disappointment is real. This is such a beautiful, delicate bra and it just does NOT work for me at all!

I’m hoping someone can clarify for me—obviously this bra is too small in multiple ways, but I thought Ewa Michalak bras were supposed to be good for projected breasts, especially the BM cut? Like I said, I know this one was too small, but my boobs tried to escape out the top. There is literally hardly ANY projection immediately at the wire, it’s literally all in the apex.

The band was so tight, *insert expletive here*. I thought my 75 Kris Line bands were bad? ... This was AWFUL. The best way to describe it is torture device, I couldn’t wait to get it off.

The gore doesn’t tack. Probably because the cups were way too small. I had massive empty space at the bottom and plenty of quadding because my boobs were trying to find room at the top. There’s also a lot of space next to the gore where my boobs just don’t fit into the bra, I might be too splayed for such a narrow gore. Speaking of narrow, wires are narrow, and I think too narrow for my shape.

I don’t know if it’s worth it to try going up a size (or 2?) based on how the 80J - Ewa Michalak » Bm Bibi Black (1000) fit, I’m worried I’ll still have the gaps and have bullet boobs like I had with that one.

Starting to think Ewa Michalak BM bras are *NOT* for me. *shakes fist*

I’m supposed to be getting an Ewa Michalak Pl Biscuit in the mail next week, and I’m nervous. I know lined/padded bras aren’t really suited for my shape, but honestly I’m having a hard time finding ANYTHING that suits my shape. It’s making me want to give up trying. 😞

I just looked at the measurements (I measure in CM but have my Bratabase set to IN, and I don’t know how to convert CM to IN off the top of my head), and I noticed this band is 35”. I’m telling you, there’s NO WAY this actually stretches that far on my body, it was so ridiculously tight and you can see that in the back picture.

    • 2

oh no. I just got a BM Suzy last night, and I love, love, LOVE how tight the band is! I'm not going back to loose bands. Would it be worth trying this one up a band, and up 1-2 additional cups?

    • 3

addendum: I know most boutiques say, "Go up a band size" but for me, I don't go up a band size. I'm 30 UK and 65 band in Ewa MIchalak.

    • 2

I think I might have to! I did a virtual fitting with Judy at Levana Bratique and she suggested I wear 80 bands for Ewa, but I really think I need an 85. I’be noticed that I should be wearing an 80 in Kris Line and those bands are waaaay stretchier than EM, in my opinion!

    • pretty_promise , I do the same thing, I always measure in cm.

    • 3

I feel your pain. The EMs I’ve tried so far are ALL too tight in the band. I haven’t tried going up on the band yet because I’m worried the cups will be too wide. I’m using extenders for the time being. I hope you find one that works for you

    • 2

would you try 85HH maybe? That's up one in the band, and up one in the cup (I believe)

Maybe it's just me, but the cups don't look terrible, only slightly too small?

    • 2

BraOdyssey that’s the plan, I’m going to try it in 85HH. It takes so long for returns to process though, so it’ll be a bit before I can do that since I’m not made of money LOL!

I’m noticing bras that have very angular wires (Ewa Michalak, Nessa) don’t seem to fit my shape as well as ones with wires that curve the whole length (Kris Line). I honestly think if it doesn’t work out I’m just going to stick with Kris. 🤷‍♀️ If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right?

    • 2

Oh no! I’m sorry you’re having such a terrible time with the fit on this one. It is such a pretty bra and I was hoping the padded straps would add to the comfort.

Let us know how going up in band and your PL work for you. I was thinking of a PL, but it being lined makes me nervous, too.

I really like this bra and I’m sad that it didn’t fit. ☹️ (The pictures are without cookies.)

I haven’t ever really tried the lined EM bras before, so I wanted to try this plunge out as my first! I really like the fit, it was comfortable except for the major quadding and the band was a tad snug, it’s technically 2cm shorter than my loose bust measurement so it’s technically not the right size, but I heard the band ran large in this model and chose to size down. I think I could probably go to an 85 band for this after all.

I looove the design, the ... black lace over the tan color is really cute. I love the rounded shape I get! And like I said, it was soooo comfortable to wear.

I’ve been reluctant to try molded cups because of my needs for projection, and I’ve always been told that molded cups aren’t for girls with projection like me. This bra actually seems like it’s reasonably okay for projection. I tried it on without the cookies, and I honestly probably wouldn’t need them because of how full the bra makes my boobs look on its own. 😅

I definitely want to try this in another size, but I don’t know which size to try next, so I’ll be posting a fit check/recommendations post soon.

I have already written a review based on the 80J at http://curvywordy.blogspot.com/2011/11/ewa-michalak-pl-czerwona-panterka.html and on here but found the bra stretched somewhat with washing and wearing. I therefore grabbed an 80HH while it was still available (as I believe it is now an 'end of the line' style) so wanted to add this to the site.

The 80HH currently fits me much better than the J as I hope you can see from the pics. I am not sure what will happen to it over time with washing and wearing but I will update this post if necessary.

Two other things to be aware of with this ... bra are that (1) the straps are completely unstretchy in the area that sits on your shoulder, meaning that they can get a bit painful after hours and hours of wear; and (2) the band is pretty firm in this style. I have found I've needed to go to a 75 or even 70 with the vast majority of my other Ewa Michalaks but with this one 80 is absolutely spot on.

My (delayed) review of my first Ewa Michalak bra!
I'm projected, narrow rooted, and VERY close set. This bra is so close to perfect. There's 3 problems. 1. The straps are too wide and occasionally bother my tail of spence because they're basically coming out of my armpit. 2. The elastic curls under the wires at the bottom of the band. 3. The bottom of the gore triangle wort of jabs into my sternum. I cant wear this bra or my other EM bra on back to back days or even super long days because this begins to make a sore across my sternum just under the gore where ... it digs in. Im not sure if I'm too large of a cup size, although this 80HH should have plenty bigger cups than my normal Curvy Kate 34H's, or what. The band isnt too tight, so I dont know what the problem is with the gore. I sort of wonder if moving the straps inward will support my chest from the middle more, but I havent dared to alter my most expensive and best fitting bras yet.
This would honestly be perfect if not for the straps and gore. I'm so very disappointed. Im thinking of trying a larger cup size, maybe getting it longline to see if that alleviates the gore issue.

I had a bit of a shock at the odd appearance- its not just the projection, but this cup has so much less outside space that the cup shape is changed and less round. It took a bit to get used to.
Also I cannot wear any shirt besides a stretchy 2XL with this or the bra/boobs cans stick out, so they go down and the gore is shoved more into my sternum and it hurts. So the now-more limited wardrobe, mixed with not being able to wear the same brand of bras two days in a row has become an interesting juggle.

    Updates:
1 year 7 months: While this remains one of my better fitting bras, it hurts. I try to plan to rotate my bras, and I try to make sure I can wear this one on days where I will be out of the house for a shorter amount of time. I will get a sore on my sternum for even 6 hours of wearing this. Yet the narrower and more projected cups fit better than any non-Polish brand. After trying multiple of each Ewa Michalak and Comexim, I decided to keep ordering Comexim's because while both seem to be inconsistent, at least Comexim's doesn't hurt as much. It's still annoying to have to play around with finding a shirt stretchy enough to fit over this, but thick enough to not show lace.

    • Aww, it's definitely sad when a bra fits you really well but one part of it hurts. I don't know enough to comment on the structural issues of the bra, but I do wonder if a bra liner might make this bra more comfortable for you. I got mine from Pambra's.

    • 2

I wear a very different size in the PL (70FF, probably really need a 70G), but I do find that as the day goes on, I notice the gore on my Dark Magenta PL seems to dig a bit. I am not sure if it is because the bra is a little small, because the wires are stronger, or something else. I do not get a sore, but it is uncomfortable after a while. I do not really get the same issue with my CHP or S bras in the 70FF sizes.

I doubt that helps, but at least it may not just be you?

    • AllyBra
It helps that its not just me. I felt like it was blasphemy to talk badly about an EM bra with how much praise I've heard. At least I'm not the only one.
My PL is actually less of an issue- I cant wear the S I got for a whole day. My Pl is a little sore at the end of the day, but otherwise fine as long as I don't wear Ewa bras on back to back days. I'll have to look into the CHP- I dont remember what all the styles are.

I'm hoping to try a Comexim Plunge as another narrow/projected possibility, once I figure out the sizing. I was hoping a different brand might fit the same but not have this issue, and they seem easier to request alterations from going forward. Have you tried them? I wont know what to try if they also fit but the gore hurts.

    • 1

I haven't tried Comexim yet. EM wires feel stronger to me than other bras I own (Panache, Freya - soft!, Cleo, Chantelle, Warner), but they also hit a little differently because the EM bras are narrower, which is a better fit. I would like to try a range of EM sizes at once to see if this is size related or if there is perhaps just something about the exact place the PL gore hits on *my* sternum that causes the discomfort. (Or maybe it is something else that has not occurred to me.)

Need to drop the Covid 15 before I even think about new bras, though. ;)

This bra is so beautiful. I am currently obsessed with mint green and I had to have it. Ideally I would have wanted a 34J but they don't make that size in this bra. I went with the 36HH because I have a couple PL's in that size. I find that I need 34's (unless the band has a lace overlay ie PL Violet) in EM bras because my PLs quickly became too loose. The PL's don't quite work for me because I spill in the middle as the day goes on. This bra is everything that I wished the PL's would be. The cup size is ... perfect and I would recommend getting the S bra in your PL size. This is one of the few bras that I don't get the orange in a glass effect. The shape is very round and not at all torpedo slope like some others have found in the S style. I think if you get that shape it is most likely the wrong size. There are four rows of hooks and I started on the second one which was to be expected since I wanted a 34. On the negative side the straps on this bra are not fully adjustable. I needed tighter straps so I quickly fixed that by taking an inch off of the straps. An easy sewing fix and if you can't sew a cheap alteration to get done. Now the cups are perfect with no gaping and no quading. One final note, the polka dots on this bra are raised. This may be a problem for those who wear very fitted shirts as the dots show through.

My (delayed) review of my first Ewa Michalak bras!
I'm projected, narrow rooted, and close set. This bra is so close to right, although the PL-Misty I got in this batch was a little better fitting.

The problems. 1. The straps are too wide and bother my tail of spence because they're basically coming out of my armpit , my arm actually pushed that part of the bra forward. 2. The elastic curls under the wires at the bottom of the band. 3. The bottom of the gore triangle wort of jabs into my sternum. I cant wear this bra or my other EM bra on back to back days ... or even super long days because this begins to make a sore across my sternum just under the gore where it digs in. Im not sure if I'm too large of a cup size, although this 80HH should have plenty bigger cups than my normal Curvy Kate 34H's. The band isnt too tight, so I dont know what the problem is with the gore. I sort of wonder if moving the straps inward will support my chest from the middle more, but I havent dared to alter my most expensive and best fitting bras yet, and Im not sure how I would handle the cup shape shifting.
    4. The lace on this is a nightmare. I saw the roses and was like "oh a pretty beauty and the beast sort of bra" that also was light colored and could maybe hide under light colored shirts better than the dark purple I got, but no. This lace shows bumpy under almost all my shirts. The lace going up the strap- while cute- is super annoying. It doesnt even stay on the strap, so I'll just have a random flappy bit off to the side to irritate my skin. The button detail on the straps is also irritating, although the ones down the center front are really cute. I was so happy to order something not beige or black, but now I wish I had ordered this in a basic color with no extra stuff on them.

I had a bit of a shock at the odd appearance- its not just the projection, but this cup has so much less outside space that the cup shape is changed and less round. It took a bit to get used to.
Also I cannot wear any shirt besides a stretchy 2XL with this or the bra/boobs cant stick out, so they go down, and the gore is shoved more into my sternum and it hurts. So the now-more limited wardrobe, mixed with not being able to wear the same brand of bras two days in a row to prevent sores, on top of the fact that I got a dark purple and this light colored bra has lace thats always bumpy or sticking out... getting dressed has become an interesting juggle of wanting to wear the bras, but finding something stretchy enough to not push down the bra, but dark colored or thick enough fabric to hide the color and/or lace. (Misty's lace isnt bumpy, just the Mimi's rose lace)

Quality seems ok. The zipzag stitch over the elastic at the bottom of the band looks a little cheap/ less professionally finished. I'm not sure if it's a quality issue of how the straps are attached, or thier placement against my arms trying to move, but there is enough stress at the strap that a lot of the stitching shows. With lace, especially lace going up the strap, I would have thought this could have been done better.

This bra is so pretty. The straps are a little far apart, I may end up moving them in, and they're a little itchy but may soften with wash/wear. The band is really really stretchy. I'd size down unless you can sew.

Ewa Michalak bras are said to be very tight in the band so going up a band size or two is recommended. I would say not with this bra. I also have the PL Violet 36HH and that one is tight and has remained so. This bra however stretches a lot more and I am already wearing it on the tightest hook after about 8 wears. My breasts shift a little in this bra but I think that the plunge style is hard for me to wear with full on top boobs and it could be that the band is not firm enough. If you get this bra go with your regular back size. I measure 34" underbust and my Freya and Fantasie size is typically 34H. Ideally a 34J in this bra would have been better. Check out my PL Violet review. I fared much better with that bra.

I absolutely love the shape this bra gives me. Super round and looks great under shirts. The cups also aren’t too tall if you want to wear something more low cut. I thought this was my perfect fit for so long but now I’m not sure. I always have trouble with the lack of immediate projection in bras and I think this doesn’t allow for that either. I think either the wire isn’t a match for my shape, or my boobs just push the cup down. I am still relatively new at trying to find a bra that fits but I’ve done more researching than trying out. FYI EM’s calculator suggested a 80GG/H for me. I’m thinking I have some sort of pendulous going on because that could be why I have slight quadding.

The lower part of the cup is a very stiff unlined fabric without any give. The band is tighter than expected, even after sizing up due to other reviews. There are small button accents on the gore and each strap, which I prefer over the typical bows. The straps have a decorative design embroidered on them which makes them stiff and not as stretchy as I'm used to from Ewa. It has the four part cup construction that is very supportive. I think with time and an extender breaking in the band would make it more comfortable, but it is at least a cup size too small for me.

I'm undecided on this one. It seems to fit really well, I don't fall out of the centre at all. It's a great neutral colour. It just don't like the look of my boobs sitting wider than my ribcage, I feel it makes my boobs look way bigger and adds 10 pounds on me (much like the shape I get from the freya deco). I much prefer more projection and less width. But the shape from the side is great. And I wonder if I could still wear a 75hh without falling out of the centre if that would solve the problem. I ordered the sm cynamon in a 75gg (as the non padded bras from ewa m seem to fit me in way different sizes) and if it fits well I will probably sell this one.

I love the Bogini! As I am still trying to pinpoint my correct sizing, I had to use an extender with this bra, but it was comfortable all day. I ordered it in a 80HH, in other EW"s it would seem that I need a 85HH, but the Bogini works really well for me as the cups seem a bit stretchy but still very supportive. I usually have an issue with the underwires digging in at the top of my belly, but this one didn't do that.

I love this bra. It is so beautiful and the only plunge that my boobs don't creep out of in the middle. The 36 band is nice and firm on my 34" underbust. I would definitely size up one band and cup size from your normal Freya and Fantasie size. I've worn this bra several times and it is still very firm on the loosest hook. The wires stay flat against my sternum and do not budge. It is comfortable as well. I can't wait for the BP styles to be released because I know that they will work even better for me. The other PL styles I own did not work out as well at this bra.
