I know there has been a lot of hate for this bra but I actually quite like it! I like the silhouette it gives, and seeing as I'm 2 days pre period right now it explains the slight cutting in of the cups, but I am so so so in love with the tight band and the stretchiness of the mesh on top of the cups. Even the elastic at the tops is very stretchy and not as problematic as it usually is for me.

At 30GG I'd say it's pretty true to size save for the band which I think runs a little tight (but really, just a ... little. For me, who is right between a 28 and 30 it's perfect.)

The wires (as seen in pics) are on the wider side, but more and more I find this to not be a problem for me. My boobs are quite squishy and so the wide wires compensate for the shallowness of the cups.

That being said, I think these cups are plenty deep--not as deep as say Jasmine, but definitely on par with my Ewa Michalaks... I could be wrong tho.

One thing that bothers me is that the straps seem to lack any elasticity-- so I need them all the way loose because I don't like them tight, but then they kinda fall off when I move. So yeah.

I had some issues initially getting the gore to tack but then it magically did...I have no idea what happened there.

I think if I got this in 30H it would have been too large but who's to know... If I come across a cheap one in that size I might get it just to see. But overall I am very happy with this bra.

  2. Dottie Balcony Bra (CK6201)

So remember when I said I won't be wasting money on any more CK bras.

Well the customer support person said Dottie is a must try! for me, and I've just been so curious why she would say that. So when I saw Dottie in this colourway for $10ish bucks (with some Black Friday discount code and whatnot), I was like, ehhhh... I'm getting it.

Turns out... Dottie doesn't fit so bad at all (and nowhere near as bad as Ellace).

I got it in 30GG because the same person told me I need a band size down and a cup size up and I would completely agree except for one ... thing. The wires in CK bras are awful. They bend and flex and holy crap, they are just so so flimsy--and combined with the smaller band they get really distorted and wrap around my torso. On the bright side, I get a very solid tack with the gore, and even though the wires stretch out reeeeeally far, like almost to my back far, they are not uncomfortable. This bra in general is very comfy except for the (you probably guessed it) too short straps.
That being said, I'm toying with the idea of replacing the wires with something (if not narrower then at least) more sturdy. As well as replacing the straps with something longer.

The cups fit pretty well to be quite honest. It's not an amazing lift, but it is lift and support. It's a three part cup made of mesh, and then on the lower part of the cup there is a layer of dotted stretch mesh over it. Kind of a weird choice, as the base mesh has zero stretch but ok I guess.
The cup edge does cut in somewhat on my larger side. That's just how it be with me. Larger cups would definitely be too large for me.

I'm glad to say the band has none of that weird tension that Ellace has. It's very even on top, middle, and bottom of the band. It is a very good sized band for me, the reason in most photos it looks like it rides up is because it is riding up... the straps are pulling on it like crazy!

So overall I would say Dottie is way way better bra than Ellace (I'm so sorry, Ellace lovers. I just can't get over the bad experience with it!) I'm definitely considering getting it in black and beige!

update: after wearing it a bit I have to admit it is comfy, it holds the shape (for what it is) throughout the day, and most importantly, the wide wire is not uncomfortable at all. The only thing I will say is uncomfortable is the short straps. I couldn't find the same colour anywhere, so I might replace them with just black tho idk how that will work. Maybe if I also replaced the bows with black ones as well. Shame though, as I was going to purchase the nude one as well.

    update / 20.01.2019.
So I don't know if it happened because of the short straps constantly pulling up the bra even though the band was fine before, now it stretched out to the point of just being way way too loose. It rides up like crazy. Eh. They don't make it in 28 and even if they did I'm not sure I'd be purchasing it in 28 band.

It is a gorgeous color and looks great on you!

Wire switchout warning: It doesn't work so well if a different width, as it shortens the band, adds twisted tension (for lack of a better explanation) and distorts the depth/projection. If it's the same general width, it works well though.

@Sovavosi tried it last year I believe so maybe she can add more personal insight on it?

    • 2

The wires I bought weren't tall enough to match the channel. CK has huge channels and very stretchy bands. The band pulled the wires back so much that the wires angled in and poked me in the ribs. I'm going to guess you have to get narrower wires that will fill the channel entirely, and/or harder wires like Panache to resist the band pulling.

    • 1

Mainly what I am worried about is that it will change the shape of the cup and cups will be like...too forward and pointy... if that's a legitimate concern even...

    • 2

I think it can do that. I haven't had success with it yet. Save the original wires, they are easy to put back in if it doesn't work for you.

    • 2

      Thank you Sovavosi : -)

    • 1

      Yes thank you! Sovavosi :)

    • 1

I don’t really have a problem changing wires but I strongly suggest matching the wire to you breast root first. You might be surprised about how wires actually fit you.

    • 2

Wow, I love it! I know what you mean about the wires. I think I had the same problem with them in my old 30FF Bardot. I had at least a finger width of space between the wires and my root. I wonder how a 28G or 30FF would be on me in this.

    • 1

I think if you can find one cheap (this colour seems to be discounted everywhere) you should def. give it a try! I's miles different than Ellace.

It looks like the bra, at least here, is not available in 28 bands. For some reason, I thought it was an older one that was available in 28. The 30 band for this one is possibly too big, but if it’s cheap enough, it’s probably not a problem to start with the middle hooks as it would also be part of a larger collection/rotation. But I have so many other bras in mind, so this one is probably a back burner bra.

    • 1

I believe I read somewhere the reason for such a wide wire on CK bras is (and I'm paraphrasing here) 'the wire needs to sit away from the breast in order to offer proper support'.
      I mean, sure.
I will say I've been reaching for this bra a lot cause I'm in an EM slump and I've just been wearing this instead.

    • Hopefully the Nazeli bra will work well for you, and open up new opportunities.

    • 1

      Yeh, I hope so.
I mean the 70FFs still fit I just bypass any EM bras and go for this one.
Worst is I have 65GGs coming in lol. What am I gonna do with that, the cups will prolly be way larger than 70Gs.

And why won't she do between cups waaaaaah

    • Hugs to you hon! Just view it as an investment into your future when your breasts decide to grow again, you are ready!! Plus, there is always a chance that your new bras run a bit smaller and will fit beautifully. <3

    Didn't fit

Very short-waisted, center full, close set, somewhat narrow, immediately projected, shallow apex projection,...

Of the four recent Curvy Kate purchases (32G Princess, 32F Atomic, 32FF Atomic, and 30GG Portia), Portia fits my breast characteristics most comfortably. Comparing measurements, the comfort is likely attributable to Portia's .25" wider wire and a slightly narrower lower gore.

Still, CK's gore width remains too wide despite my "sizing up." And, I instinctively choose wireless bras over wired bras because wires HURT my unpadded ribs.

Overall, the short wing height works well for my very short-waisted body. But, the materials in CK Ellace are so much softer and easier to wear. Additionally, I prefer the support of Ellace's band.

That is lovely, and looks like not a bad fit if it wasn't for the gore. Sorry it doesn't work for you.

    • 1

I really liked the saturated aqua. It fit well enough I should have just kept it, but I thought I could purchase one from a Bratabase user. Someone purchased it before I could ;-)

    • 1

Such a gorgeous color! Sorry the gore didn't work for you. :-(

    • 1

I fix the gore problem by sewing it. It adds extra depth for my insane central fullness - not sure it would be a good solution for you, if the cup fits well otherwise...

    • BlackieBird It is so strange for me. When I have narrowed the gore, the cup becomes too narrow. My breasts are not, apparently, as narrow as many of our users' breasts.

Where have you been all my life, darling? This bra is my new favourite and I'm never taking it off, for real. It's more comfortable than anything I ever had. The shape under clothing is the best: gathered forward, projected, lifted to the moon, with a defined peak, not too round (which I love). The cups fit me like a dream, but you might need to size up like I did as they come a tad small. For reference my breasts are FOB, short roots, average width roots (not too narrow or wide), projected, tons of center fullness.
Cons: the gore is too high/wide which means it sits ... on my breast tissue, but this bra is so soft that I don't mind. Straps are too far in my armpits even though I have broad shoulders and never had this problem with any other bra. Once again, this bra is amazing so I forgive.
It's the first bra that doesn't give me cleavage, something that is almost inevitable with so much center fullness; the separation is so refreshing!
The Indigo colourway is so much better in person than it is in the pictures: the perfect mixture of casual minimalism and the right dose of spice. I already ordered the Apple colourway too, and can't wait for CK to release more and more versions of this fantastic gem.

Edit: the Apple colourway arrived, the band is quite a bit tighter than the Indigo (which is great), but the cups are also smaller: I'm quadding out of the middle so much that it pushes the gore away from my sternum.

I love the way the Curvy Kate Princess Balcony Bra used to fit before I gained weight. Any weight gain goes to my boobs and I end up with some mild quad-boob effect on my larger breast. I HATE that the little polka dots on this bra are thick/textured and visible through practically any material that isn't super thick or double layered. The dots are not only visible as dots but also raised, so they make a textured appearance that is really visible, even from far away. I basically only wear this bra when I'm going to work in scrubs with a thick cotton shirt under my scrub top or in the winter when I have 2 layers of long sleeved shirts/sweaters on to hide the polka dots.

So I love the Curvy Kate Florence balcony Bra. It is wide enough to hold all of my breast tissue and I love that the gore is relatively short, so it doesn't jab into my sternum. the soft lace is surprisingly not as obvious through thin shirts as I was expecting, which is a good thing. It looks good with thin shirts, thicker material, and the blush color is close enough to skin tone without being blah that it doesn't show through on light or white colored shirts. It's pretty much my go to bra; I have it in blush and black. Sadly, any additional weight I gain goes to my breast tissue first, so now I'm getting a quad-boob effect on my bigger breast.

I really like this bra. I had it in crimson when I was a 28G and it was one of my favorites. The beige is not my favorite color but its a good match for my skin and it has nice pink tones that save it from being too boring. Comfort-wise, I find it very soft, and lightweight in the cup, but the three hooks and the wide elastic under the cup make it feel very sturdy. Gives a good shape. I'm quite projected and although I know Curvy Kate generally runs shallow, I don't get any wrinkling in the bottom of the cup and the underwire stays ... put.

There is a small amount of in-cup quadding as I have very soft tissue and the stretch lace at the top is less firm than the mesh fabric of the cup. Overall that's a pretty minor issue for me, though! A bigger issue is that the straps are pretty wide for my frame and the top side of the cup cuts into my tail of spence a little and might be uncomfortable after several hours.

Overall, while its not perfect for my shape, I will be keeping it, though I may not wear it for any especially long days.

I initially had this bra in Navy in 30FF and it fit like a dream. I ordered the Lilac in 30FF based on that, but the neckline was too tight so I swapped for a 30G which fit great until a recent change in breast shape from weight gain. I tried the 30GG in the hopes this would help, but I think sadly it just makes the cups too wide for me. I get an awkward flattening effect and the cradle just feels too wide in this bigger size. It's almost like if I shorten the width of the cradle by a little, the cup shape changes and fits me much better. Sad, as I really hoped I could find a new size that worked in this for me as it's a lovely summer bra. So lightweight and the band runs quite firm (which, as a true 28 band, is great for me - but of course something to bear in mind).

The Great Amazon Prime Wardrobe Try-On, Part 3
My shape: full on bottom, soft tissue, narrow shoulders/roots.
Appearance: I really love the look of this beige bra. There's a darker shaded beige elastic strip along the bottom edge, and matching little bows at the straps and gore. The top edge of the cups are stretch lace, the bottom a soft, lined mesh. The cups are constructed with three parts, one seam down the middle. It's just a really striking beige bra.
Fit: The band is a bit too tight for me, though I think after repeated wear, it would stretch out to be more comfortable. The straps are too wideset for my narrow shoulders, however, which is the only reason I will be returning this bra. It's just so pretty! I'm bummed it doesn't work out for me. Surprisingly, the wires aren't as wide as other Curvy Kate styles I have tried. The cup depth is perfect, the gore tacks, and all fits correctly except for those pesky straps.

I like Curvy Kate Portia because it's adorable - light, frilly, frothy - and it's lightweight, which is great for summer. The mesh is fine and comfortable. The only problem is it doesn't suuuuper match my shape. I'm too center-full; on smaller sizes, I quad out, and on this size, which is much too wide in the cups, I kind of warp in toward the center. I also get some in-cup quadding along the seam. It's a bit too plungy and shallow, I guess. But it's not a terrible fit, and it's comfortable; it has quite short wings for the cup size, so it doesn't dig into my armpits the way some bras at the 30G/GG size range do (cough Cleos cough) do.

My shape: short and narrow roots, projected FOB breasts and sensitive skin.

This is my favourite bra ever. I have been wearing it for 2-3 months now.
The wings of this bra are especially short, which makes it amazingly comfortable. The wires are quite narrow and the gore is relatively low and narrow too.
The fabric is very soft and silky while being rigid. The cups are not strechy at all. The band however is made of strech mesh and it is very stretchy. I am already on the 2nd hook. This is the only downsite to this bra in my opinion.
It give a very roundes and uplifted shape, ... similar to Cleo Lily Balconnet Bra (7351) and Cleo Marcie Balconnet Bra (6831), but without the discomfort of their long wires.
The lace on top of the cup is thick and shows a little bit under thin shirts.

This bra might not fit well for women with FOT or tall roots as the cup might cut in. For women who like tight bands, i suggest going down a band size and one cup size up. Compared to 30GG - Cleo » Hettie Balconnet Bra (9011) , the band is looser and the cups are smaller.

This is an impressive bra. I can't tolerate Cleo's narrow straps, narrow bands, hard wires, and wider gore width. But, Curvy Kate has improved all those Cleo characteristics with their Daydreamer.

I also loved it when I tried it but I think it was a cup size too small. Now it's sold out. I really hope the Vegas is just like it. It's cut the same way.

Strapless bras in my size are, of course, difficult. But this one has been getting rave reviews. Supposedly it really keeps 'em up there! Feels stable, and so on!

...Not really my experience, alas. Part of it is a shape mismatch; Curvy Kate and I have never gotten along. (I'm too narrow and projected for them, just speaking generally.) But for strapless bras, you sort of have to put up with a certain amount of wideness and shallowness, similar to sports bras. Without straps, you just can't quite support the projected shape.

Still, ye olde 34G - Wacoal » Red Carpet Convertible (854119) did a much better job ... of keeping me feeling supported and stable than this bra, which seems determined to sit below where a band should be, pushing my skin out in a way that creates an unpleasant reverse muffin-top shape, and squeezing uncomfortably as my ribcage is a different size where it now 'sits'. No amount of pulling this bra up will get it to actually sit where it should, and as a result... it manages to feel both too big and too tight, putting the weight of my boobs on this part of my ribcage. (But I tried the 32 band in the past, and it was too big to actually stay up at all, so... no good.) The overall effect is to shorten my waist and make me look dumpy.

The shape under t-shirts is a bit awkward, as without the straps and with no line of the tacky material that lines the band to keep the cups actually up, they gap away from my tissue.

Overall, this is just a completely unworkable strapless bra, and it was around $70 on Amazon to boot. Thank goodness for Prime shipping and free returns.

This bra is gorgeous. It's super-soft and doesn't both my sensitive skin at all. I would warn that the wire sits weird in this one's gore.

Backwards & Upsidedown: Seems a bit snug, but otherwise fine.Moves 2/3 fingers from chest.

Wires: Wires extend past breast tissue on side. They may be slightly too short, but short-term wear isn't painful (haven't tried long-term wear).

Gore: Top .25 inches of gore is floating very slightly where the wires are. May be sitting slightly on breast tissue, but seems to be floating above it instead. Height is fine.

Cups: Slight quad-boob on one side, other cup is fine, with slight gapping. Wires like to sit ... about the width of a fingertip below my inframmary fold. When I adjust them to the IF, the band below the gore digs in painfully after a few minutes.

Straps: Strap location is fine and they are 100% adjustable. Band appears to be parallel.

Comfort: After short-term wear (10-15 minutes?) bra feels ok. Band feels tight, wires are poking slightly (probably a tad too short). I like the shape it gives me. I do have slight back pain, but I had that before I put this on. I suspect it is because I am unused to a tight band.

    30GG

    Didn't fit

This bra isn't the best fit for me, but I think it's more of a shape mismatch than a size mismatch. I just received two 30GG Smoothies in the mail in black and blush, as well as a 28GG Smoothie Prowl in cranberry. Pros are that this bra is definitely gorgeous, I love the subtle leopard print that is cute, but doesn't show under clothes. Straps are fully adjustable, but a little bit more "slick" feeling than, say, Freya straps, so I wonder if they will loosen more easily throughout the day. Time will tell. The molding is thinner and more malleable than the molding in the Deco. ... This bra also gives good cleavage from the front-a subtle, softly rounded look.

As for the fit, there are definitely some issues. I can't fill the apex and the bottom of the cups, but with any slight movement I quadboob ever so slightly over the top. I'm definitely very FOT and I guess I'm less projected than I thought, so I think the issue with this bra is that the cups are too deep for my breasts and not open enough on the top. I don't think this is an issue with the cups being too big, because my 28GG Smoothie has the same issues and more quadboob. I could go up a cup size to eliminate the quadboob, but then the apex of the cup would be even deeper and I wouldn't be able to fill it. I think that if the apex of this cup was pulled in, this would be a much better fit and look more flattering under clothes.

The wires are a good length, very long but not quite verging into back territory, which I like but be aware if you prefer narrower wires. The sides of the cup near the strap are too tall and cut into my armpits-not unbearable, but uncomfortable. Additionally, the bra gives a more projected, "natural" look under clothes for me; maybe because I can't fill the apex of the cup, or maybe simply because of the shape of the bra, but it does translate to me as a little more "pointy" than I prefer.

Overall, this bra would be great for FOB, projected ladies but for FOT ladies like myself, the Freya Deco or similar is a better fit as far as molded bras go. I'll probably still wear this bra and hope that the molding breaks in and forms to my breast shape a little better over time.

I normally wear a 30G in most brands, but always a different size in Curvy Kate. In this, I needed a 30GG. The denim print is really a nice change for me and I wish I could have kept it. It had just the right amount of padding and good lift without any cutting or overflow. I was surprised because the cups seemed high on me, but at the same time, gaping was minimal. The ... Denim colorway (old season) actually fit me better than the Navy dot colorway (new season) that I tried in the same size. The Navy had excess space under the armpit and more "strap gap".

I have to rate this bra "poor" for quality because of the 3 defects it had:
    1. The top horizontal padded section of the cup above the seam was dented in and sewn badly. There was no way it would lie flat and it showed through my shirts like a layer of quadboob.
    2. The band beneath the cup (there's only about 1cm) was sewn unevenly so one side was longer than the other.
    3. The inner bottom cup section on one side was sewn poorly so that the outer material had wrinkles/bunches in it. It was only that one section of the one cup.

*Ok there's some 'golden oldies' in my bra collection - bras I was truly obsessed with, have owned/tried in multiple sizes and even if I don't wear them often, they are doomed to be mine.. Forever! XD*

One of them is Rosie - I love her print SO much!
I know florals are not everyone's cup of tea, but I'm pretty much addicted to all things flowery https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" />
The rose print is slightly 'abstract' and the colors are really bright and vibrant.

This is a bra I've owned in various sizes - 32F and then 32FF (when my boobs were smaller and I hadn't realized how ... much better 30 bands feel to wear). Ended up with this 30GG, which I feel runs true to size.

As much as I love the look of this bra, the fit is not ideal. Creates a bit of an east/west look?
This bra gives my boobs a more natural appearance, rather than very uplifted - certainly has its purposes / occasions but I find myself not wearing it very often.

Also - one of my main bra annoyances - the straps chafe my armpits. Honestly I can hardly find bras that DON'T do that, even if my shoulders are not small at all for my size https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" /> Maybe my armpit tolerance is just too low..? I really feel for actual small shouldered ladies, they must truly suffer!

Anyway; even if she's not my perfect bra, Rosie will always have a place in my closet and my heart https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" />

I have heard the white version runs large in the cup and band. I usually wear a 32G, and followed the advice I get on Curvy Kate's molded bras- band size down, cup size up. The band was still a generous fit, and the cup was pretty generous too- I may have been able to go down a cup, sometimes it is difficult to tell with half-cup bras. In either case, it gave me lovely uplifted round shape.

Looks and practicality- The satin looked lovely, and the colorway rich, but the ruffles looked silly on me (I'd been apprehensive but thought I would give it a shot). Moderate cleavage for me, thanks to the lift. However, I generally wear close-fitting tops and the ruffles showed bumps under pretty much all of them.

This bra is not for most ladies in summer. If you often wear sweaters or thick tops, however, it will give you an amazing shape and look fun as well!

    Fits

I personally can't seem to find a good fit in this style, but I know some folk love the fit of it. I feel it is better suited to those with slightly wider, shallower breast shapes. Perhaps I have too much upper fullness or projection for this to work for me? I typically wear a 28G/30FF in Curvy Kate, but the 30FF in this was laughably small (I'll try to get some photos next time I try it on in that size), hence going up to a 30GG. The fit feels almost perfect, despite being two cup sizes too big, but still cuts in along the neckline. The wire width is also a bit too wide in this size, but not uncomfortable.

I haven’t bought a CK bra in years apart from the 28HH - Curvy Kate » Luxe Strapless Bra (CK2601) — even though that doesn’t fit me properly, it serves its purpose as a strapless bra. Thought I would try again with a mini-haul... SURPRISE SURPRISE, they are still too shallow for me *sigh*.

Update: I bought this same model in Iris in 30GG. At the time, I could not fill out the cups in this and the band still was ridiculously tight. After wearing it with an extender for some time, hand-washing it and growing even more in cup size, it now fits pretty good. Good thing I did not go for a 32 on either model as I can imagine it would have loosen up significantly over time. I can say that the Iris does run about a half cup too big and the black one that I own in the same size is borderline a cup size too small. ... I will definitely have to up to the 30H on that one, but in the meantime for this Iris one, stay in the 30GG.

The best fitting bra I owned, once I got it in the correct size. I started with the color Iris and got it in a 30G, and it was a cup size too small. Now I own this in the color Black, size 30GG and it fits like a glove. The band was really tight on the Iris one and finally loosened up after a few wears, but the one in Black is snug.....but not to the point of suffocating. This one accommodates short roots with even to FOB boobs. I have both, but be aware of having narrow shoulders like I do, the wide straps cuts into my tail of spence. So, I do find that I have to pull the straps over to be able to move my arms freely. Otherwise, a great bra in pretty colors!
