First: Bratabase says this bra doesn't fit - the band is a bit too tight.
I've been wearing this bra with an extender for the first few times. And now it does fit, so it stretched out a bit https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" /> But I think next time I will order a 30D.

Well, what to say to this beauty?
I'm in love with the Tease Me design. It's chique, sexy, reminds me of burlesque dance but really beautiful.

I've always wanted the purple Tease Me and now brastop had it on sale for 10pounds only. My big chance.

I don't regret it, the bra provides a really nice ... shape. I think this bra looks best when the cups are rather tight. Not too tight https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" />
Then it does push without squeezing. I like.
The braids at the cups can be seen a bit through a shirt, so if you don't like this, maybe cut them off or order another bra https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" />

I don't mind, so I will keep the braids. So sweet, with the satin ribbon details!

The wires tend to poke a bit in the sternum and on the ribcage. It was worse the first few times I've worn it, but now it's a lot better.
But if you are really sensitive, maybe this bra isn't your best choice.

    Note:
Fellow bra bloggers and bra communities have found out that with Curvy Kate you often have to go up one cup in bigger cup sizes!

(In my sizing range this doesn't apply.)

    EDIT:

I tried on this bra in the colour pink/black from 2011 and it was overall to small for me. I would definitely need a 28E or 30DD with this colour.
So the sizing seems to vary with the different collections!

The cups were didn't go up as high as the purple ones and the cups were overall smaller and more shallow.
    One word: nipplegate.

I ordered this bra in the colour "wine" and it's a real beauty.

It does fit, but I'm not happy with the shape it gives me.
Especially compared to the Tease Me bra by CK!

The cups are very flat and although I need very flat cups, too much for me.

Nice colour, nice quality, but this bra just isn't right for me.

Attention: I experienced that the CK Showgirl Models vary from season to season, maybe another colour from another collection might actually fit better. I won't give up on this bra https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" />

    • Ugh, that stinks! Inconsistent sizing between seasons?!

    • yes... e.g. the Tease me in purple: Perfect. Tease me in pink - nipplegate. same size :(

    • Can you measure both? So we can spot the differences?

    • unfortunately I don't own the pink one, it was a friends bra and she sent it back. But I remember some stuff, I will add this information to the Tease Me Review I wrote :)
The pink one was not as high as the purple one and the cups were more shallow.

  5. Princess Balcony Bra (CK6001)

I really want to love this bra. The detailing on it is so beautiful, and despite the wrinkle in the cup, it give a nice appearance under shirts. The band is very firm and feels quite supportive.

The underwires are not friendly to my sternum, and stab in at the gore. An hour of wearing this bra yesterday left my sternum red, irritated and feeling bruised even still today. I do really like that the underwires encapsulates all of my breast tissue, rather than stopping short at the armpit like Freyas do.

The cup wrinkles just slightly at the top, at the sheer panel between the lace and the bottom part of the cup. If I fold that section into the cup, so that the lace meets the solid part of the cup, the fit is perfect. So I would say this cup is just a tiny bit too big. I wonder if bending the underwires would help the fit at the sternum?

Love! I've been admiring the Showgirl range for some time now so when Brastop had a sale on recently I had to take the plunge. I got this in the Azure/Plum colour and it's beautiful. The bra gives a lot of lift and has an almost corset like effect.

As per the advice I'd read here and on other blogs I sized down in the band and up in the cup, I'm glad I did as a 30 band would have been too loose and I do have some reservations as to how well this bra will wear for me. Even the 28 band seems much looser than I am used to in the 30 bands and I suspect I may not get as much use out of this bra as I do with others when it starts to stretch with wash & wear. How things go with this issue will probably be the deciding factor as to whether I buy anything else from this range. But for now I'm in love https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />

Oh good god this was painful! The tightness of the band is something i could deal with, but the tips of the underwires all dug into my ribs. (and that was without breathing in). I like the embroidery and bow details. The cups are just too deep and too narrow for me. I'm quite disappointed with the dimensions of the cups, i had planned to buy more from their range as they have such pretty colours.

    • I guess I should've read your review before trying the Ella bra and Flirtelle's Petal. I too really like the way CK's bras look but ran into the same problem: painful. I even tried an extender, though I never really thought the band was too tight, and actually it made the tips of the underwires dig in even more as the band rode up my back.

While the experience was a painful exercise in futility it's comforting to know I wasn't the only one who ran into this problem.

my shape: even/slightly fob, shallow, wide root, close set.
my first time ordering a non-bra-matrix bra that's not 3 band sizes too big. the gore tacks and the band doesn't ride up.

unfortunately that's about all the positives. this bra definitely did not suit my shape - there was so much empty space in the cup's bottom and center, and the top of the cup cut me off. definitely too fob and projected for me.

also the wires were so uncomfortable for my ribcage. which is interesting, because other reviews say that the wires are super comfortable for them. i think the small cup size is exacerbating the pain that the wires cause me.

This bra is really pretty, but the cup shape is very odd. The cups are very shallow on the outside and squash my boobs, but very deep on the inside. It makes a strange, narrow pointy shape, and it worse when the straps are tightened. I could not even get the bra to lay in a normal-ish shape to measure it.

Even without the cup issues, the wires are slightly too narrow.

I also tried a 28E, see my other review.

I've seen this bra look great on some other women. I think it was designed in a larger size and not scaled down well. It is a shame.

    • Maybe it was made for people with a conical shape.

    • I have a conical shape. This bra is not conical, it's a very strange shape that is hard to describe. Somewhat like a half-sphere that is flattened on one side.

The wires and center gore were very painful, digging in to me with much force. The look of the bra, in Black/Gold was nice, but in the end this one was far too painful for me to keep. It's been a while since I had this one, but I don't think the Black/Gold differs much from the Ivory/Gold.

A lovely, gorgeous bra, that's sadly too small for me (I usually hover between 28DD & 28E- an E is def. needed in this case). The band is very stretchy, you may want to size down if you can. Cups run true to size. The shape is very uplifting, and the cups are great for shallow breasts.

A plain bra, that fit me okay-ish: cups filled to the brim with the criss cross doubling over on itself (not sure why), and a tight enough band, though very stretchy. But, this is without a doubt the most painful bra I ever tried: the wires feel like they're stabbing me full force. I can't wear it because of this.

This bra is too small for me--I get the "orange in a glass" effect. Padded Curvy Kates run smaller than their unpadded versions.

The material feels nice and the padding is soft and comfortable against the skin.

I don't know why this bra gets so much hate for being ugly, I think it looks nice. Simple and basic with just a touch of contrast to keep it from being boring. I like the gray accents and the flat bows. Don't get me wrong, I love my bright colors and fun prints, but so many bras are overly feminine it's nice to have something different!

Wires are FIRM. Like, super super FIRM. I know I can’t wear it as is. I know some people have switched out the wires on some bras and I would consider that idea, but the bra is also a little too wide set for me. By that I mean the gore is too wide and the cups are too far apart.

If it wasn’t for those too things (extra firm wires and wide gore) I’d probably be pretty happy with this strapless bra

Keep in mind, I'm still kinda new to the shape stuff. Its a cup size too big, I got sent the wrong size. It feels somewhat projected to me and definitely closed on the top, maybetoo much for me if I had the right size. I felt like it looked like I was quadding when the bra was really just poofing up off of my breasts.

  20. Princess Balcony Bra (CK6001)

    Didn't fit

The Princess Balcony is one of the most popular Curvy Kate styles, and since I've had good luck with three-piece cut & sew unlined bras, I had high hopes for this one, Unfortunately, I tried two different sizes, and I don't think this is the right fit for me.

Bratabase most consistently recommends 28DD for me, but I found that the 28DD band was far too small, thus it pulled the wires right into my ribcage and into the sternum. The Princess Balcony has very firm wires, so they didn't give when strained, and caused me a lot of pain. It is really important in this ... style to find the right band size for you, because the wires won't flex if the band is too small for you!

However, I do appreciate that Curvy Kate uses a really firm elastic on these bands, giving them a solid degree of support. The wide straps and U shaped leotard back also contribute to this feeling of strong support. Straps feel really secure and stay nicely in place.

I didn't really care for the styling of this bra in person, although I liked the idea of the design. The flocked polka dots made me worry that they would attract clothing fibers from different colors and look dirty. The floral embroidery at the top of the cup is cute, but I didn't feel that it looks expensive and elegant, especially since this bra costs more than similar styles from Freya or Panache. The ribbon detail, embroidery, and polka dots did not feel cohesive to me as part of the design, and I felt they would be better off on separate styles. They also are all quite textured and look like they would be visible under clothing.

The main problem for me with this bra is the fit of the cups. While the measurements of this bra aren't too different from other similar cuts from other brands, the cup depth is deeper, so it's designed for someone with more projection. This particular bra seems to be an anomaly, since I measured it at an 8.7" cup depth and the average is 8.2", so I think this one was wildly off-spec. I fill out the majority of the cup, but the top portion under the lace edge is pretty empty on me. You need more upper fullness to fill out the bra as intended. However, the upper edge is a narrow 1/8" elastic, and I think this would be flexible enough to suit tall roots without being too closed off. The cups are also lightweight, comfortable powermesh that give great shaping and support. Much softer than Panache Tango brand new!

My opinion of the bra is that this is an excellently engineered design, and if it works for your shape, it would be a great functional piece. Aesthetically, I am not a fan of the design elements, and I am wary of the inconsistencies in measurements across individual bras.
