    Didn't fit

I'm at the beginning of my bra fitting journey, trying to sort out my proper size with help from Bratabase, Reddit's ABraThatFits, and many wonderful bra bloggers. I figure it's time to stop lurking and join the community! I will try to get pics before I return the Andorra. I own 2 ancient Body by VS 34DDs, which I now know do not remotely fit, and I just acquired a Claudette Dessous 34F and a Panache Andorra Full Cup 34E. I need to get over my social anxiety and body insecurity and check out my local Nordstrom's to try on different brands/sizes.

This bra is insanely comfortable! The only ... complaint I have is the profile shape I get, which from bottom to nipple is shaped slightly 'beaky' and compressed to a point. It's not the cute retro kind of point either, it's more of a compressed mammogram kinda point, but then the profile from the nipple up is a nice rounded yet contained shape, with no cleavage (but my breast shape makes it very hard to get cleavage, to my dismay, and I'm super full on top). I think this bottom beaky shape occurs because of Andorra's horizontal seam in combination with my natural shape. I should note that the second time I wore Andorra, the shape wasn't nearly as pointy. Otherwise, I feel comfortably contained, breasts are held close to the body, fabric feels soft and silky, everything feels locked in and secure (but I have firm tissue, so I don't have much jiggle to contend with) and very uplifted. I could see Andorra being a great everyday bra, and especially good for helping prevent button gape on non-stretch shirts, or to lessen the 'boob tent' effect of a flowy top. I wonder if the beaky profile is lessened for people who have a more even or full on bottom shape?

I'm pretty sure the 34E Mineral Blue Full Cup Andorra is a cup size too small for me. I need to take pics and ask for fit advice. The comfy stretch lace makes it so there isn't any bubbling over at the top. The color is more green/teal than the warm blue I expected, but still very pretty, and I like the color on the lace pattern cups, as I feel the light color interwoven with the "Mineral Blue" base color makes it more interesting and sophisticated. When I first put it on, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to close the band on the largest hook. I wore it for half an hour, laughed at the crazy shape the bottom half of the cups gave me, and took it off with the thought that I'd need a 36 band for sure, and possibly a larger cup. I was thinking maybe the profile wouldn't look so bizarre if I sized up, as I've read that this bra can look very pointy if it's too small. A day or so later I tried it on again to get some measurements, and surprisingly it felt a lot more comfortable! The band no longer felt too tight, but nice and secure on the largest hook, with no back fat spillage. Also, the shape wasn't nearly as 'beaky' and compressed in profile as it was for the first half hour of wear. Weird. I guess some bras really do have a kind of break-in period?

I also get a "beak" shape in all Panache unlined bras, unless they have only vertical seams. I got this shape when I was young and very firm with more breast height/upper fullness and I get it now I'm old, postbabies and very soft! The only thing that hasn't changed about my shape is that I'm projected with all my fullness on the inner side of the breast, and although gravity conceals it, my boob structure is technically rather conical if you're looking from the side. I think most Panache cups are seamed in a way that does not accommodate that. If you aren't hung up on designs being super trendy, Fantasie has some full cups that are perfectly shaped to match this breast shape--look for the ones that have straps which aren't too far apart.

    • Interesting! I wonder why some of us get that 'beak' shape in Panache's unlined bras? As I was reading your response, my first thought was, "Aha! It must be because of firm tissue!" and then as I continued reading, I realized that you still get the beak shape after changes in your tissue softness. Maybe it's due to having a projected and conical breast structure?

Thank you for the tip about Fantasie's full cups, and also to look for vertically seamed Panache bras. I would love to find a bra as comfortably soft to wear and yet still secure feeling as the Andorra, but minus the beak profile! I hope the Fantasie bras are as comfortable as the Andorra. I'm just figuring out what bra shapes will work best with my body. Trends are not very important to me; my priorities are comfort, along with looking nice (to me, 'nice' is not super pointy or east/west) under clothing. It's just a bonus if the bra happens to be what I consider pretty.

    • 2

I think fundamentally "beak shape" occurs when some or all of your upper breast is not able to conform to the angle and shape of the relatively flattened Panache upper cup shape. (This can seem misleading because "flattened upper cup" doesn't mean FLAT upper boob surface from apex to cup edge: you can have super round boobs and still fit in there just fine as long as your tissue is located where the cup has room for it.) So anyone who has a taller breast shape than the cup, OR a higher breast apex, OR more upper-inner or upper-outer quadrant fullness than the cup does in your size range, is going to end up with this funny shape.

    • Thanks again for your thoughtful comments on the "beak shape" phenomenon! I didn't realize that there is such a large amount of variables that can affect bra fitting! I'm amazed at the wealth of knowledge in this community, and glad to see this is a place free from body shaming. I really should take pics to accompany my review, and also to post under Fitting Help.

You're welcome! Yes, a wealth of knowledge is what happens when you get a large number of bra obsessed people in the same place ;-) And I'm glad to say there is no body shaming allowed at all!

    Fits

The Andorra Full Cup fits me almost perfectly and it gives my bust good lift and projection. The underwire is almost too long in the outer perimeter and after wearing for a day it almost started to bug me near my underarms,. Fortunately for me "almost" doesn't count so the fit is perfect. Another almost problem is due to an optical illusion when trying the bra on. When I look in the mirror with just the bra on it looks like there is too much east-west action. But put a t-shirt on and east-west is gone with the wind and my chest looks fabulous. This is my best bra since my recent bra-enlightenment. I was clueless before but now I am found. Thanks to Bratabase and bra bloggers of the world for sharing your wisdom!

  3. Finally, a fitting bra! Boob twin, this one is a YES. Scoop one up if you can still find them on discount sites.

I tried this on when it arrived and I refuse to take it off just to measure it so I'll do that another day. It is firm but comfortable in the band, supportive, brings my boobs forward, doesn't smush them flat, and feels great!

    The only downsides:

The shape it gives is pointy. For me, this is not an issue, but I know some people are dead set on a rounded shape. I think it looks just fine under a t-shirt but if you are more into foam moulded bras, this might be too big a first step in the other direction.

Also, the label is super itchy. I don't like cutting off bra labels so for now I have the tags tucked so they dangle down my back below the band.

I'm sure I'll have more thoughts as I begin to break this in.

Yea, I'm with you on this one. I love my Andorra. Personally, I like the shape it gives me.

    • 1

I like my Andorra's as well, but it took a while before they didn't make every inch of skin the bras come in contact with ITCHY. I don't know if it's something they treat the bras with before they go out to retailers or what, but boobs, where the band touches the sides and back, and to a lesser extent where the straps are worn being itchy as heck makes it hard not to start scratching like crazy while in public places and no off-to-the-side area to do some covert scratching.

    Fits

This bra has trumped my 38HH Cleo Lucy as my best fitting bra. Thanks to the recommendation of an active bratabase/abtf user I went to Nordstrom to try this bra today. It fit like a dream and there was no way I was leaving the store without it! I think I have a mental aversion to the words "full cup" but this still manages to look super cute, even in a simple color like "Pearl". If you have a wide breast root, definitely try this bra. The band rolls up a bit on me under the cups, but that doesn't effect the fit really. It just can't be helped because of all my weird squishy fat from my 90 pound (and still going) weightloss in the last year and a half. Happy boobs!

  5. Picked this bra up at Nordstrom, and I have got to come right out and say it - I love this bra!! So much so that I am getting my hands on the plunge version, too.

The bra, while being full coverage, looks remarkably delicate and light. This is due to the fact that it's pretty much entirely lace, with the top panel being stretchy - perfect!

The fit is really good on me, with the band sitting quite snug (it took me a little while to get used to it) on the loosest hook, leaving me feeling secure and comfortable. My only issue is with the bit of ... elastic/lace across the band below the cups, which does not like to lay flat, tending to roll when I'm wearing the bra. If it rolls out, it's fine, but occasionally it rolls under and pinches my skin underneath it. This is definitely not a deal breaker, however, as I just make sure it's rolled out when I put it on.

This bra gives me a very natural shape, but it is very uplifted as well - I seriously can't complain. Even though I've been wearing molded bras for a long time, getting used to this shape took no time at all and I love it under most clothes!

  6. This bra is pretty for something I would consider a basic everyday bra. The cups are made of a nice soft lace with a reinforced bottom panels and an inner side panel to help push the breasts forward I guess. It gives a really nice natural shape.

The bra fits really nicely as well. It's a full cup, so I don't have that cutting in issue I generally have with some of my other bras.

I actually bought the 30E first, but when I pulled my elbows back I was bulging at the top, but not too much. The 30E also gave me a ... pointier shape. I wasn't sure if this size would be too big, but it turned out to be just slightly bigger and it worked for me.

Edit: After wearing this bra all day and to the club, I'm finding the centre wires are really poking into my chest. I'm assuming it's because I have wide breasts or it's just the style of the bra. Anyway, it's just something to keep in mind.

Edit2: I just wanted to update my review again since I've been wearing this bra for a while now. I have to say it is my favourite bra and if the style becomes discontinued I will cry. I still have the problem with the centre gore poking after a long day, but it's not as bad now. If you generally have a problem with the cups cutting into you, I don't think you will with this one. The soft lace stretches to your shape which I think is great.

    32GG

    Didn't fit

This review is for the Panache Andorra Full Cup in 32GG. My ABTF size is 32G/GG UK (or more) depending on projection.

    Band:
    * Measured from 27 to 31. Clearly this runs small.

    Wires:
    * Very firm.

    Cups:
    * Have a mesh inner side sling.

    Fabric:
    * Very comfortable.

About me: very close set (breasts touch), very narrow roots, very projected at the wire, functionally even to full on bottom, short roots, relatively soft tissue, significant rib flares, narrow shoulders.

    FIT

    * The band length was really short. I actually had to wear an extender to even fasten it. I'm surprised at this based on my other experiences with Panache. The lace on the band did curl ... up on my even trying it on. I'm sure for sitting all day it would definitely curl.
    * The gore tacked nicely. It was tall for me, but fine. It was narrow enough for me at .75 inches, but I still might prefer to overlay them.
    * The cups seem to have the right volume for me, and the tops actually laid down perfectly. The wires are not narrow enough for me and it does not have enough immediate projection for me.
    * The straps are long enough.
    * The sides are a comfortable height for me.

    OVERALL IMPRESSION
    * I like this bra even though I don't normally like lace. I love how the tops of the cups fit me. I just need a ton more immediate projection and significantly more narrow wires.

Such a nicely made bra! I am full on bottom and in the center. Used the bra fit calculator here and on r/abrathatfits and got 30gg so this bra rings true to size. My only complaint is that the high gore and full coverage cup do not allow for slightly low cut tops; but the bra is so pretty and fits so nice that I didn't even mind it poking out - it looked like a nice bralette or something!

    28F

    Fits

This is one of my favorites and I just ordered two more in case they discontinue it.

The pink / red color is super intense. It looks weird and bikini like under anything bright and see through but works really well under a black top especially if you show some cleavage and the lace peeks out a little.

Sizing was difficult. I'm between a 28F and 28FF / 30F and the stretch lace felt very snug at first although it loosened up nicely after a few washes. But I was also missing a bit of space at the sides. The band is very tight, which made me try it in ... a 30F and 30E (it was in a shop so no pictures, sorry). In the 30F the cups were wrinkling which made the stretch lace super itchy. And I got the dreaded torpedo shape, poking nipples and a painful gore on top. In the 30E the gore felt good but the cups still looked pointy and the wires were too narrow, hurting my sides. So I decided to stick with the 28F as the tight band seems to stretch the wires enough for my wide roots and it somehow creates a rounder, perkier shape.

Quality is great. The straps are very smooth and comfortable the elastic is firm but not pinchy and the band didn't stretch in over 6 month.

The design is very interesting. Like with to my Panache Georgia (http://bra.pe/XYON/) the elastic is crossed over below the gore making the front part more rigid and supportive. I also like the side support slings attached to the straps which really push my wide set boobs to the center. When I shorten the straps a bit more, like in the pictures the slings also provide tonnes of support by stopping any east west movement. I even wore this thing during a kickbox sparing without adjusting it even once. (All my sports bras were dirty, don't try this). My only minor complaint is that the wires sometimes make a strange creaking noises when I lift my arms or twist my torso.

    38E

    Didn't fit

Every time I wear this bra I hate it just a little bit more, which breaks my heart, since it is so pretty and give me a nice, subtly uplifted shape. The band is very snug for a 38 -- I have to use an extender to keep from distorting the wire, while the band on 38E panache Ava fits just fine. I was hoping that it would stretch out a bit, but it isn't showing any signs of that so far. More annoyingly, it rolls whenever I sit and I have to readjust in when I get up. On the plus ... side, this is the perfect time for me to pull it back into my IMF, which it acts like it is going to sit in when I put it on, but it is just teasing while it plans its escape. So I'm guessing that my FoB breasts are just too much for it.

The gore and sides are also quite high for my high-set breasts. The gore is okay if I am standing up, but if I sit a lot, it gets quite stabby. The wings aren't poking so much, but they are high enough that they chafe, especially when I am driving.

The cups fit nicely, though maybe a bit wide, (I'm still having a hard time figuring out root width confidently) with a slight minimizing effect. And they creak like a boat every time I put it on.

I wanted so badly for this bra to fit that I pushed the wires from the gore up the other end of the channel and put in a couple of stitches to hold them in place. This helped with the gore but made the sides fit so badly that I had marks in my armpits for days, so I took the stitches out again and considered that experiment a failure.

In short, I don't believe this bra is a good fit for me.

I tried 34G - Panache » Clara Full Cup Bra (7255) (my usual Panache size) and 34GG - Panache » Clara Full Cup Bra (7255) . Clara is based on Andorra. Neither size worked for me because the cut is too shallow at the wire for my immediate projection.
