About me: petite with wide horizontal oval, slightly conical breasts * average ...projection * wide-set (3 fingers width of space between breasts) * very wide roots (extend past the mid-axillary line) * even horizontal fullness (just barely outer full) * short root height, average vertical placement * mix of firm & soft tissue (front molds to shape of bra, sides push wimpy wires away) * conical shape (but will squish to round) * full on top (2/4 shape, not even or very full) - BUT functionally even to FOB due to short roots and soft tissue * petite (5'3") so have narrow frame * front (anterior) rib flares
Band: * length: back rides up * wings: too short, boobs escape * no axillary skin spillage
Gore: Comfortable, tacks, good spacing, height fine.
Cups: * Gives an oval shape. * Wires too narrow. * Top of cup smooth. * Bottom of cup wrinkles (breasts looking for more projection). Breast pushes wire down. * Outer edge of cup rubs lightly on the tail of Spence. (Would be worth a longer wear test, if not for all the other fit problems.)
Straps: * too far apart, slip * adjust short enough
Comfort & Fit Summary * The white fabric with black pin-stripes is super classy. And flattering. * Band too big, cups too narrow. * Try 30F. By the measurements, cup likely too narrow. However, Fantasie has soft wires, so might work. * By the measurements table for this style, a 30FF would probably be a better cup width, but all colors are sold-out on Amazon. Fantastic quality bra that would be very nice for someone who is self supported, but not for these wise girls. I read online that spacer bras would not work for pendulous unsupported breasts...well they are right, because you jest sink to the bottom.
I have the Fantasie Rebecca in a 32E (which fits ok), but I find the cups on this one are too small and I quad significantly. Ideally, if the wires were just a bit wider and the cups had a little more center fullness, this would work perfectly for me. At first when the straps were tightened too much, the cups gave a nice profile. But after I properly adjusted the tension the cups became just a bit too pointy for my taste. I may try the next cup size up, but if that one is pointy too I won't keep it.
This bra is very comfortable and quite pretty. Unlike many other cut and sew bras I've worn, this one does not smash my breasts toward my underarms, and I think this has to do with there being enough room for my center-full breasts. This is not a side support bra per se but the choice of fabric and construction give a lifted and rounded shape. The underwires could stand to be a little narrower but I can live with the width as is. So far I'm really enamored with this style.
Update: after several wears I have come to the conclusion that unlined, soft-cup type ...bras don't work for me. Case in point - while sitting the fabric of this bra between the wing and strap becomes loose, and the bra allows my breasts to sag. I hate that feeling. The only workaround seems to be wearing bras with more substance in the cup, so rather than waste more precious cash on this type of branch will be focusing my efforts to find ABTF in the molded and padded categories. Another lovely eBay find that is discontinued. The bra is very comfortable, although as with most unlined bras I don't enjoy the stitching and have taken to wearing a think cup liner. The embroidery is different. Overall I'm not a huge fan of the color/design or the natural (read: less perky/supportive) profile this bra gives me, so although it's a good fit it's going up for sale.
I really like the side support of this bra, and the comfort level and appearance are great, but there are two drawbacks: insufficient lift results in a matronly profile, major quadding on both sides near the gore. Like so many bras this one causes my breasts to droop down over the underwire, where there is not enough immediate projection. For someone with less center fullness and immediate projection this bra would be a winner.
The cups are kind of a strange material. It's not spacer fabric, but it has the same thickness. It's not a super stiff molded cup (like Deco), but yet it arrived with lots of wrinkles in the cups. Would hopefully come out in the wash or by steaming them. Anyway, the entire bra has a stiff feel to it. I can't say it was uncomfortable, but it certainly wouldn't be my first choice to grab in the morning. As for fit, this bra was much too open on top for me and I am much too functionally FoB. I also found the cups to be too tall for my short torso and cut into my Tail of Spense.
This bra was a bargain eBay find with multiple issues - wires too wide, creating unsupported feeling even though band and cups fit fine. Wires also not tall enough underarms - there is weird fabric wrinkling only between the strap and the side of the cup. My breast mass is pushed to my armpits and yet somehow I also have boob uncomfortably smashed toward the gore. The bra also has a taller center gore which, while it doesn't dig, rubs. This bra is not a good match for my shape. Projection seems inadequate and cup is too shallow and wide. Shape under clothes is nice. This one is not a keeper. I've been updating this review as the workday wears on. By 1pm I wish I could go home and put something else on.
Very pretty bra. I like the shape, very in-and-up, but it might be too pointy for some. Wires are quite wide, which I'm happy about. I get just a little wrinkling in the top on my smaller side, but it's smaller, y'know?
This is a very beautiful, "serious" looking bra. It seems well made with good quality material and would probably be very comfortable in the right size, as the band (and everything else) has the right amount of softness. This size is obviously wrong for me, as the sizing was completely messed up on the website where I ordered - and the label, with cup sizes ranging from E to G, doesn't really help either. I don't think I'll try any more sizes though, as the wing of this bra seems to be too short for me. Also, I suspect I would not like the shape it gives in a larger cup - the splayed look I dread and seem to get with most seamless cups, especially it there's no side support.
Not sure how I feel about the fit of this yet. It's very comfortable for short evening wears, but wasn't my favorite when I had to be in a car for the working day. I can't decide if the wires are wide enough - it poked at first, but feels better now after some tissue migration. The shape it gives is a tiny bit pointy, but not in a bad way, and it's so cute in a retro sort of way. The pinstripes caught my eye in the store and I couldn't resist (especially as it was in the clearance bin). Maybe not an everyday bra, but for now I'm keeping it.
Very nice natural shape. I love how this bra looks, perfect for everyday wear. It pokes me a bit on the outside wire near my underarm, but I think that is because it is a size too small. The band was very tight and firm when I first bought it but now it is very stretched out.
This is very pretty bra. It is amazing in the teal color! However, I seem to be between sizes on this one. I have both a 32E and and 32DD. The 32DD is just a little small in the cup. It doesn't quite cut me into a quad boob…but almost. The wire on the DD also doesn't quite come back far enough. I actually have a pinch mark on one of my breasts from the cup being just a little too small. Unfortunately, the E cup is just a bit too big and leaves extra material at the top of the cup near where the strap attaches. With both, the band is just too big. On the tightest hooks, I can pull the bra up over my breasts with minimal effort. If I thought there was a chance of it fitting me in a 30" band, I would try, but it just doesn't seem worth the hassle with the way the cup sizing seems to be, as far as my body is concerned.
This is a gorgeous bra! However, my 40+ boobs don't appear to be right for plunge bras. Although the wires circle my breasts properly, the cup isn't right. It has a little bit of empty space at the top (by where the straps attach), yet cuts across my soft tissue at the bottom of the cup. There are so many different ways to measure as well. Or maybe Fantasie runs large in the band? At any rate, as a brand new bra, I can put this on the last set of hooks and still pull it up over my breasts with not much effort. I just ordered some Panache bras in a 30 band (I measure between 28"-29" under bust). The cuts seems better for me, but also the band measurement is much better!
I like a spacer cup as my breasts are set pretty wide apart, so this is a good t-shirt style for me. I wear this as a weekend bra under sweaters and soft t-shirts. Lift and support are nothing special - it tends to give my bottom-heavy breasts a very soft, wide, round look - but the fabric is very comfortable, and the colour (crystal/light grey) is invisible under most things and feels less aggressively utilitarian than nude/beige. Generally a nice, pretty, comfortable style that gives a just OK shape.
It's a very good bra. They only problem for me is that the underwire on the sides poke me because the cups are a bit too narrow. I don't remember it doing that when I initially bought it a year and a half ago. But that was when I was new to well-fitting bras, and it's possible that it just felt like it fit perfectly because it fit well relative to what I was using at the time. The other possibility is weight gain or something, since I have gained a bit of weight since buying the thing.
The fabric is very comfortable - it's how I realized that non-molded bras can actually be awesome. The fabric is very thing, but strong. It's non-itchy for me. The pattern on the lace is symmetrical, and really quite nice looking.
I'm confused. What is a 'green' shape?
All I can think of is 'Green; as in good for environment'.
