    Didn't fit

This bra is just gorgerous. It is a floral print that I really like everything about. I tried the 32J - Fantasie » Camilla Side Support Bra (FL3122) a few months ago and I found the bra a bit too tall and the wires too wide. I also lost a bit of weight since then, so I decided to pick up a smaller size in the sale. (I couldn't find 32H or 32HH so I decided to try the 30HH since I found the bra on the 32J to be quite stretchy).

So... no it does not work. The band is not too tight I don't even ... need an extender to close it. It stretches to almost 32in so it runs larger more like a tight 32 band would fit. The wires are a good width for me and the cups are not too tall. The bra fits well on the bottom half, but I find that there is not so much room at the center. Also the gore is a bit wide, I'd prefer a more narrow gore.

The upper half of the cups is made of a very pretty stretchy lace... and it is lined with beige non stretchy mesh. Like why make stretchy lace then line it with unstretchy fabric? It makes no sense. Like it is either a bra with stretchy lace or not. I hate when they do that. I also hate the elastic band at the cup edge that cuts in. Why??? Would the cups fall off if it wasn't there? Would the boobs fall out? Okay enough of a rant, the bra is just not made for my tall, full - on - top shape. I have to accept it and move on but oh this is the most gorgerous floral print I ever saw on a Fantasie bra. The only way to top this would be this on a cool toned pink background with pink lace. They better not do it or I will be even more sad.

    • Sorry it didn't work for you, it is very pretty!

    • It’s so pretty! Shame it is still not a good fit in a different size. I also hate elastic cup edging. It’s almost always done too tight and it digs into my soft tissue.

    • I'm not sure why they EVER put elastic on cup edges. I mean, even a firm breast still squishes??

    • 1

I don't know why they do this. It would cut in on my firm tissue also.

    • 1

I think they do it to keep the straps closer together at front- the elastic helps the lace not stretch out allowing the strap to slip down.

    • cupandahalf yes that could be a reason for it. Do you do alternations of your Elomi bras still? Cut that elastic ribbon out? Does it affect if the straps slip down more easily?
The straps slipping off the shoulders is a problem of narrow shoulders and a bra that is intended for a wider frame or just straps too wide set.

    • 1

I haven’t paid attention actually. I have sloping shoulders so I think straps slip off me no matter what, even with really centered straps.

Yes, I do use a seam ripper to cut the elastic off the top cup on my larger side. Works really well to prevent that digging in.

    • Maybe my shoudlers are not that narrow just sloping? :S

I love this bra! (Thank you for sending it to me, Mandapandarawks!) It's a little taller than the balconettes I prefer but this works, and I'm surprised at how well I fill out the top of the cup (short roots usually mean tight at the wire and loose at the top edge for me). It's very closed on top, for those with upper fullness this probably wouldn't work. Normally, Fantasie gives me a pointed silhouette. I am pleased by the rounded appearance. What really makes this bra is the gorgeous material! It could almost pass for a bikini top. The background is navy, with white and turquoise flower-like swirls. The pattern carries through the band.

  3. Lois Side Support Bra (2972)

edit: this bra no longer fits, and the cups have always been way too wide.

    ---

    I love this bra.

    The good:
    - Side support gives awesome projection.
    - No bouncing, even when e.g. running down stairs, shaking cocktails, jumping up and down.
    - The straps don't sit extremely wide on my shoulders. I can actually wear this bra under a tank top! Plus the straps are thick and comfortable.

    The bad:
    - The top edge of the full coverage cup can be a little snug for me, and I'm even/slightly full on bottom, so beware if you're full on top.
    - This is more a note than a bad thing. The underwire is really wide; I think this is because of the side support thing. So while the far side of the wire won't sit at the root of your breast, it's not uncomfortable and and your boobs don't fall into the side part of the cup or anything.

The Fantasie Alex is such a nice bra. The fabric is smooth and slick; I didn't really have problems with seams showing under shirts (unless I wore a really tight shirt). The periwinkle color is super cute, too, and I love the art deco style lace at the top of the cups. The reason this didn't really work for me was the tightness of the band combined with the width of the cups. The band was too tight on me, which I think contributed to widening the cups, which hurt under my arms. I think this would work much better for someone with more projection and a smaller ribcage than me (I typically wear a 32-34).

My shape: full on bottom, soft tissue, narrow shoulders/roots.
(Special thanks to MamaPagan for sending me this to try out!)
Appearance: This is a 4 part construction cup, with two vertical seams up each cup and a horizontal seam across the top. The fabric is a soft, shiny satin, with the top of the cups in a matching lace pattern. The design is interesting, but not my cup of tea personally; it's a dark blue with seafoam green/white/black flowers allover. There are tiny blue bows at the straps and gore. The straps are pretty wide, and made of that ribbed looking elastic.
Fit: This was two cup sizes too big for me, so hard to comment on the fit. The band is pretty stretchy for a 30, so I would say it could fit someone who wears a 32 band pretty easily.

    Hasn't set fit

    Joanna in 30HH
I am adding this bra for data/informational purposes only. This Bra is not owned by me at the time of addition to the database.

Joanna is an underwire soft cup side support bra in a full cup balcony style. The color/pattern is a dark blue with large light blue Hawaiian flowers and lace on the top of the cups.

The band measures 25” to a max 33” with 3 hooks and 3 rows of eyes.

    Cup Depth as measured by:
1 Hovering the cup between the knees, then placing the tape measure into the cups without any resistance.
    This measurement is: 13”

2 Placing the cup ... over the knee and stretching it similar to what a breast would, to the maximum resistance.
    This measurement is: 14”

I feel these two figures give you a general idea of the minimum and maximum depth that the cup can accommodate, just like the flat and stretched band measurements do with bands. Since Bratabase only has one cup field, I enter the larger of the two, as it’s this larger number that determines if a cup is going to fit me or not since I am on the max end of the cup scale, but do realize that some may need the lower number to determine fit for their needs, so I will always include both figures in the reviews for full disclosure.

There’s a bit of give to the cups, which comes from the bottom of the cups only. As with most UK brands in the larger cup sizes, the wires/cups wrap further around the side than they should. For me, the cups are too small and the center gore does not sit on my sternum.

I got this bra when my breasts outgrew my 32G/30GG cups that I’d worn forever. As it didn’t fit, my search for larger cups began, and my frustration with inconsistent sizing grew……

Super comfortable Fantasie bra which I wear all the time. Plain black satin works perfectly under everything from tank tops to blouses.

  8. Salsa Balcony Bra (2761)

    Didn't fit

I haven't had a new Fantasie bra since I last time bought my trusted smoothing moulded T-shirt bra, so I had high expectations. The Salsa meets them in only one cathegory: it's pretty.

That said, the rest is less pretty. First of all, the cups make my boobs point east&west in a rather extreme fashion - NOT a good look. Secondly, the tops of the cups are awfully tight, I haven't had a quadraboob attack this bad, like, ever. Paired with the east&west-syndrome, the Salsa acts like a minimizer, but somehow makes the whole thing look lumpy and tight, not gathered and controlled. I makes my boobs look ... sort of rounded, but like they were hanging a good 3 inches lower than normally. Definitely not a good look.

    Pros:
    - very pretty
    - soft material
    - snug band

    Cons:
    - absolutely not designed for top-full breasts!
    - makes breasts point strongly outward and to the sides
    - very tight top of the cup
    - quite wide cups, can mean lots of empty room in cups under the arm for those with firm breasts

It fits, mostly, really well. I'm not sure the center gore couldn't sit better against my chest, as the left side does touch the sternum but the right and bigger breast doesn't. And yet it feels like the cups could be filled out a bit better, as there are wrinkle in the top of the cup, and even a slight bit of room in the very bottom of the cup where it stays close to the chest for about half an inch up from the wire before filling out with breast tissue. A fitter at Ann's Bras in St Louis said this bra was a good fit for me, and was my first that had ever touched my sternum, so at the time it seemed amazing!
