This bra is my first bra that has ever fit me perfectly! I got the Curvy Kate Smoothie Soul Plunge Bra (CK5511) in the Mulberry print and it is so pretty. The bra provides wonderful support and even has convertible straps in the back so you can wear it normally or as a razor back with was an added bonus. The band feels nice and is very sturdy. I highly recommend this bra for people with wide set breasts and outer fullness, the cups mold to the shape of my breast very nicely and don't gap at all.

    • Oh that looks like a fantastic basic! This is giving me hope for plunges not cutting in/quadding on top. Is the cup actual a 3 piece sewn or a molded with 3 pc decor on the outside?

    • Not sure that I agree with you that this bra is a good fit. I think you can do better for the girls. Spend some time on the site, measure yourself, your bras, look at people in bras that are the same size as you. Good luck with your bra journey, it can be an eye opening trip!

    • Hi what makes you say that?

    • I would suggest that you submit a "fitting help" request with all the measurements of the bra and yourself with better pictures if you are interested in finding a better fit. Amazing what data you can collect with numbers and people's insight. Good luck!

    • This site does have a lot of information when you explore around a but, but nobody owes anyone perfection in presentation. Your review gave me hope for a fitting plunge which I am finally on the right track with as of yesterday; and hope that the lack of quadding, and good projection you found in the superplunge lasts a long time! It's turned me on to rethinking this brands' ability to provide the depth I need and am trying out some in current size as the opportunity comes along.

  3. Princess Balcony Bra (CK6001)

My first foray into the world of Curvy Kate is the 38G - Curvy Kate » Princess Balcony Bra (CK6001), which was recently on sale everywhere, at least in the teal colourway, so I thought I would give it a try. I researched the measurements for it and it looked like a 38G would actually work for me.

It's a beautiful bra, a gorgeous colour, and very feminine detailing, especially the pink ribbon that runs across the neckline and through the straps. And I am a complete sucker for polka dots. *grin*

So, my response to this bra? Just one word: ... OMG! I am *totally* in love with this bra. It fits so well, the depth and width of the cups, the length of the wires, the separation of the cups, the width of the straps, and the height of the gore. I feel completely supported, like my boobs are being cradled by firm, gentle hands. It's snug and I like that. It makes me feel very secure, like I won't have to even spare a single thought during the day, worrying about how I look, because this bra makes me feel like I look great. What more can a woman possibly ask of a bra?

I would buy this bra again in a New York minute. If I had the money, I'd buy one in every colour. It also makes me very curious about other CK models.

I am now one very happy woman. *giggle*

I'm a little envious because the mainstay CK shapes just don't work on me. They're so pretty to look at, they come in such a variety of beautiful colorways and you can regularly find them at great prices. Go YOU!

    • Lynn, I feel your envy. I feel the same way about many of the popular brands here, like the Cleo line, for example. *sigh*

I bought this bra second hand in color beige in a size (UK38G) that wasn't my actual size (UK34GG).

This is a strapless padded & underwired bra with side support inside the cups. The quality of the bra is good as the comfort but if you don't like silicone lining in strapless bra, this is not for you. The band is quite firm.

I bought this bra on a online thrift shop in black in the size UK38G (EU85I). It doesn't fit me well as the centre gore doesn't lie flat against my sternum & the wires are a little too high for my liking because they poke my armpits. Nevertheless I still wear this bra on the regular as it gives my breast a nice round shape thanks to the moulded cups & gives them a bit of uplift. This could be wore with or without straps.
The strapless effect is created with a firm band that doesn't expand a lot compared to other Curvy Kate's bras & with 2 ... fine lines of silicone (I think) around the edges of the band. This silicone doesn't give me rash but it could be itchy for some people.

To conclude, given its retail price (50€) & if you could try your size or do free exchange, I think this bra is really well made & comfortable. I rated Okay in the Appearance section because its doesn't fit according to the Bratabase guidelines but its isn't too obvious even under skintight clothes.

This is an ok bra. It's got the typical Curvy Kate cup design. However, the inner lining is really really scratchy and has big obvious zigzag seams.

I love this bra. I have close set breasts and the plunge is deep enough for the gore to tack. my L breast is slightly larger and I should be in a 38GG but the deep plunge allows my larger breast to stay in the smaller cup size comfortably.

This bra definitely comes up big on the cups. I previously tried this one in a 38H and the band was extremely tight, but this one seems much looser, I could probably size down to a 36GG as wearing on the middle hooks from new and still a little loose. The top of the cups are a little loose, not enough to size down, and possibly more to do with cup height than size, but it's the best I've found so far!

Band runs a full size small. It's tighter than my 36GG Florence. (Both are black.) The cup seems the same volume, so sister-sizing worked.

The opaque fabric that makes up the bottom of the cup and bra cradle is surprisingly thick. Unfortunately, that makes the apex seam pretty thick as well. I hope it isn't obvious under shirts.

It's pretty narrow and deep for a plunge. There isn't enough immediate projection for me so the cup wrinkles at the bottom and my boobs climb up to align better with the apex. I think cookies might help because I have so little tissue below the nipples to fill out ... the lower cup.

The elastic at the top of the cup is sewn strangely tight. It causes a slight gathering effect. Not an issue for my short roots, but anyone who's not short-rooted or FOB would probably want to avoid this bra or remove it. It also ruins the look of the daisy embroidery, Imo.

The armpit area gapes just like every Curvy Kate I've tried. Aesthetically awful but comfy for someone like me who gets very swollen and sore in that area.

I also purchased the matching hipster briefs. The size 22 fits a 51" hip. That's probably the minimum for this size. I'm barely filling out the butt.

This is an awesome daily bra! It is extremely comfortable. The cups are smooth and the seems don't show under clothing and the band is snug and comfortable. Even as a daily wearer, this is still a very attractive bra. Absolutely amazing make from Curvy Kate.

Such a pretty bra. Such a tricky fit. The band was really loose & the cups a bit small, though they gapped at the top as they haver zero stretch. The shape I got was awful. The dreaded square boob CK is infamous for in too small cups. The straps are pretty with a floral design. I found them too thin, not soft, & I dislike the zero stretch. Thi's bra does not move with me at all.

The velvet polka dots are lovely, as is the ribbon detail along the top of the cups. Neither make for a comfy feel next to the skin, though. And the raised dots DO pick up color from almost anything. Mine quickly became a collection of gray and red, with some navy too. Mind, these are from shirts I've owned a long time that do not bleed color. At any rate, I hate white bras anyway, so along with my a freya Jolie, I decided to dye them with food coloring. The Princess is now pale blue & much prettier.

This is my first ever padded bra, I've always felt that a girl my size doesn't need a padded bra, however I've long felt that friends with smaller boobs than me have been able to make themselves look bigger than me, so I decided to try a padded bra.

Unfortunately the cup is just not wide or deep enough for me, gives me a serious case of quad boob, such a pity as it does give a good cleavage and makes my boobs look really big and upfront. Unfortunately I would probably need to go up 2 sizes to 38H, such a pity as 38G is the both largest band and the largest cup available in this band. However very pretty.....
