Wanted to Love this bra. Very pretty, feels luxurious and well stitched. Cups are too small but give me cone boob. The wire goes to far back on the side. I think this bra is better for someone with wide set/splayed breasts with side issues. I don't think a cup size up will benefit my close set wide root breasts.

The blue color is just lovely, and the cup volume was right, but the cup shape didn't work for me. Underwires too wide, cups too flat - I always fit better when the cups are narrower and deeper. This is a common problem for me though so I think other people would have better luck with it.

The band seemed tight - I usually wear 30DD UK / 30E US size, but the 32D band was comfortably tight. I think I still would have wanted the 32 even if there was a 30 option.

The gold X in the front is hardware, not gold cloth ... - but it is molded to look like cloth, so I found that style decision a little bit odd.

The straps are stretchy, removable, and they tie around the neck. So halter and bandeau are the only options, which sounds limiting but actually would have been good for me, because those are the only options I would have used. In my Prima Donna swim top there are more options but the halter option looks the worst because the straps need to be adjusted too much to get them the right length for halter. So honestly I'd rather have just halter and bandeau with no other options - it makes the halter option look better when the straps don't need to accommodate other options.

This bra closely resembles the Natori Feathers Contour Plunge (730023) (my current best fitting bra) so I thought this bra would be worth a shot. Well first off, this band is extremely stretchy. This 32 stretched to 34" easily. I had some very minor gaping in the cups, even with the push up pads, but that could very well be due to the band being too large. I was not able to order a smaller band size as the stock was all out. So I guess I really can't say how similar this bra is to the Natori Feathers fit-wise until ... I'm able to find a 65E. Otherwise this bra did seem to be shallow friendly. The push-up pads are removable, and they seem to be a bit over-engineered (I included pictures of them). The last drawback to this bra is that there is only one hook for the closure. This makes the band seem a little unstable, and I can't say that I think it would wear well over time. On the upside, this bra is very flattering. The fabric and lace are delicate which I prefer over the bulkier Natori Feathers lace, which sometimes shows under shirts.

This bra model is one of my (few) long-lusted-after loves, although I held off getting myself one for many many months. I STILL absolutely adore it and I am therefore slightly gutted that it doesn't seem to work all that well for my shape ... I'm not giving up though https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" />

    Bra description:

This is actually one of the more interesting bras I've encountered so far. The combination of the lovely and soft, partly floral lace, the 'pinstripe' centre gore bow and double straps just speaks to me: it's super feminine but with a business-like, tomboy sort of nod, if that makes any sense. ... Oh, and it is a half cup -- what is not to love?! https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" />

Anyway, the cups and band are all made of the soft, floral lace. The cups are of the two-part, vertically seamed kind. The outer parts of the cups are backed with a fine, rigid, very sheer black mesh. The inner parts of the cups are not backed and therefore have a little 'give'. A narrow band of elastic very lightly 'gathers' the cup edge to make sure it stays flush with the skin. The band consists of a single layer of the same lace and is not backed by anything, but the result is less stretchy than it would seem. The closure is of the standard two hook, three position kind. The centre gore does not come up as high as the wires and cups, which gives it a somewhat 'lighter' appearance. A satin ribbon bow decorated along either edge with a running stitch in contrasting thread adorn the centre gore. The straps are not fully adjustable: a double strap consisting of two narrower bands of elastic adorned in a similar way as the centre gore bow, i.e. with a running stitch in contrasting thread, connects to the cups. The adjustable part in the back consists of a single width of plain black strap elastic. All findings on this bra, including the hooks and eyes, are silver-coloured metal. A silver-coloured metal tag with the brandname 'Chantelle' is sewed next to the closure.

    Bra fit:

This bra is not a good fit on me. I'm not sure whether it's simply too big, or whether there's some sort of shape mismatch going on. Anyway, I'd say this bra runs generous in both the cups and band, compared, for example, to the 70D - Chantelle » Rive Gauche T-back Spacer Bra (3282) . I don't fill out the cups by any stretch of the imagination and they come up quite a bit higher on my chest than I expected. The wires are as good as perfect on me though and they seem a good deal sturdier (hurray!) than the wires in the T-back, which make me fear that the 70C I have ordered as comparison will not fit either, but we'll see. I'm not THAT easily defeated https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" />

The band fits reasonably well at the tightest hooks, but it definitely rides up on the loosest hooks. Compared to the T-back that fits me well band-wise, this band really runs almost a full size larger. Part of the reason for that may be that unlike the T-back the lace in this Demi isn't backed with anything, part that the band is really very narrow and part that unstretched the band actually DOES measure larger than the T-back. I'm not too bothered by it as it does fit me well enough on the tightest hooks (I don't like my bands tight) and it's an easy fix to shorten the band once it stretches, but still. Sizing inconsistency of any kind is just plain annoying.

Having said all that, I must say that this bra DOES deliver shape-wise: even though the cups are too roomy, the shape I get is lovely and round. Not as centred and projected as what I get, for example, in the 65DD - Ewa Michalak » Hm Gold (267) (which under my current measurement actually is about equally roomy in the cups), but therefore maybe more comfortable for me. It's the reason why I did decide to keep this bra: it's y comfortable and it looks reasonably good under clothing. And who knows, my size my fluctuate upwards again, at some point https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" />

    Conclusion:

I decided to keep this bra, probably against my better judgement: it isn't nearly as good a fit as I would have hoped, but it's a lovely, comfortable, reasonably flattering, unpadded half cup and I don't really have many of those at the moment, so there you have it https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" /> I'm going to try it in a size down as well, so keep posted https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" />

    Fits

This review is for the Chantelle Rive Gauche T-back Spacer Bra 70D, colour Cappuccino.

    General comments:

This was an impulse buy. I don't think I'd ever even have considered buying this bra had it not been for the fact that all my other bras (minus the lovely Rhea) are impossibly uncomfortable at the moment. The reason is that it's simply not my style: narrowly placed straps and racer backs make my already wide shoulders appear even wider. They're also not ideal for the wide-necked shirts I like to wear. Furthermore, higher centre gores and more horizontally cut cup edges (half cups) work better for my shape and give me a ... more fitting cleavage than deep plunges like this. Furthermore, this 70D should technically be too loose in the band, is slightly too small in the cup, and also in other respects is not a perfect fit. And yet I bought two ...

    Bra description:

A front closing plunging racer back design with plain and seamless, soft, very slightly stretchy cups made out of ultralight foam-like 'spacer' knit. The back is made out of a super soft stretch lace backed with soft, sheer, stretch mesh. The thin, smooth straps are embellished with a contrasting running stitch detail. Silver coloured findings and front closing clasp with Chantelle logo. Small silver coloured tag on the right bottom side with Chantelle brand name. The whole appearance is simultaneously plain, somewhat utilitarian, yet somehow delicate, feminine and fresh as well -- in my opinion a successful yet difficult to describe blend, really.

This is my first experience with 'spacer' knit and like Vee ('boobies in clouds') I can only sing its praises. It's really quite miraculous stuff: super soft, ultralight and slightly stretchy, but at the same remarkably supportive. It gives a flattering, smooth shape without feeling bulky or stiff. Nipples might show through very slightly. I'm quite smitten with the stuff and I'll definitely stay on the lookout for more in this material.

    Bra fit:

I measure 27" underbust (tightly) so for all practical purposes I have no business donning a 70 band. I tried a Rive Gauche three-part cup some time ago and I was positively swimming in that band so I did not expect this one to come even close, especially since it's a non-adjustable front closing design. Truth be told, this band IS a tiny bit loose on me, but to my surprise it fits MUCH closer than any other 70 band I've tried and it doesn't noticeably ride up. It's not ideal (please please please expand your size range, Chantelle!), but it stays in place with wear and is definitely good enough for the 'around the house' purpose I had in mind and to cover for those days I simply cannot wear any other bra.

The cups are maybe (half?) a cup size too small, but the material is so forgiving that it's almost impossible to quadboob in this thing. The little bit there is on my larger side is not noticeable under clothes. A bigger problem is the 'centre gore', or what to call it: I have space between my breasts, but the cups on this bra are ever so slightly too far apart even for me. It doesn't help that the gore is very low either as my breasts like to spill towards the centre. The wires are the correct width for my shape, but in combination with the low, wide centre gore they do not quite enclose my breasts as they should at the centre front. Due to my breast size fluctuating throughout the day and the (too) loose band this part actually seems to float a bit occasionally but as nothing actually pinches or hurts I'm not too bothered by that. On 'fuller' moments I also get a bit 'orange-in-a-glass'. Again, this does not cause any discomfort so I'm not bothered by it.

Usually with cups that come up this high towards the straps I don't quite fill them out towards the top. However, this doesn't seem too much of an issue with this bra. IF there even is excess space there, thanks to the forgiving material it really is not noticeable. The armhole is slightly tight though -- it's simply cut too straight -- for my short upper torso and high-on-chest breasts, which is something I might try and change if I finds it bothers me more than it should.

The shape this bra gives me is actually quite good. It's nothing compared to the super rounded and lifted 'Regency' cleavage my beloved Rhea gives me but it's a separated, understated, and natural look that's perfect for 'around the house' and even though it's ever so slightly East-West it's not unflattering on my frame. Instead of 'up and out' this bra keeps my breasts close to my chest and more how and where they are naturally. The best thing, however, is that it really makes my breasts appear nice and round and anything but pointy which is one of their natural features I'm none too keen on. And the cups are just so soft! I keep touching them, because they just feel yummy!

    Conclusion:

For me this bra is a typical case of comfort over style -- or even fit. I would have liked to try it in 70E/32DD (how does the Chantelle sizing go?), but that size wasn't available and I'm thinking it would not solve the issues I have in this size: I personally think that the biggest problem is the centre gore, in combination with the deep plunge cut, which simply isn't ideal for my shape. Had the gore been narrower and the wires higher (and the band smaller ... 65E/30DD or 65F/30E might have been 'perfect' as far as it's possible for me to achieve perfection in this cut) this bra might have just as well been designed for me. Despite it's imperfections it felt so immensely comfortable that I had already decided to get it anyway when luck struck: it was on discount, 50% off! So I bought two and can now enjoy a bit of 'around the house' decadence in both Cappuccino and Black https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" />

I'm definitely going to try other Chantelle models as well. I've been in love with demi's like the Rive Gauche and C-Chic Sexy for some time already and now that I've first hand experienced the quality, comfort and shape of this bra I'll willingly take a too large band. If necessary I can always alter it down.

Been wearing this bra about two years now. I know that's way too long haha. Band stretched out and cups never fit me right but I just went with it because it was ok. For close set breast this isn't the best as I have spillage in the middle after a scoop and swoop. Gore doesn't lay flat either.

Updated on Mar 24, 2024 Flag this

    • I'd be curious to see how this would fit you in a DD, the gore isn't sitting flat because the cups are too small if I had to guess. It could also be your a close pair. Maybe a Balconette would better suit your needs?

    • Yes I am very close set, like a pinky finger distance. Been trying a lot of balconettes but the gore doesn't seem to be skinny enough, I've read that polish brands may be a better fit. I was looking to try this same bra in a 30E (I don't think Chantelle has DD). But I also have a feeling if I got any bigger in the cup on this I will have gapping near the top at the strap since I'm pretty bottom heavy. Waiting on Amazon to let me do another try before your buy round lol...

    • 1

Oh yeah! Give the Polish brands a try, I've heard a lot of good things about them for center full and close pairs.

This was for my mom's attempts to find a bra that fits and it's very different from my size so I can only comment on the material & construction.

Band: runs TTS & its elastic is firm. Mesh.

Cups: Bottom and side panels are opaque mesh, top is sheer stretch lace. The elastic along the top edge of the cups is also firm enough that it would be IMO best suited for a FOB shape.

Straps: Fully adjustable and slightly thinner than most I've encountered.

Overall: The fabric and seams are nice and smooth, not scratchy. It seems to be a very cool and breathable bra.

Bought even though it was too small. The cups are not high enough nor wide enough, and there is a lot of overspill on the sides, but the build/fabric quality is nice and it does hold me in very well, even though the size is too small. The gore does not tack, it but looks like an uni boob shape anyways. Cannot see if I fill the bottom of cups, but there is some wrinkling. The band quality is very strong and not super elastic. Would try this in a bigger cup size, maybe one less than my actual size.

This bra is not my size. I should wear the 70DD/70E.

However, I do not think this bra would fit my shape even if I went up a cup size as it cuts a LOT on the inner tops of the cups, as if it were several cup sizes smaller. Maybe this model is better for boobs with shorter roots, less top tissue or less inner fullness.

Seems to be good quality and the different texture of the band and the metal charm give it a look of elegance.

I've tried this bra in 2 different sizes and hated it both times. It's either too big or too small. The cups a rigid around the edges, the band is too thin, and the gore digs into my sternum so hard it hurts. The cups are a nice pointy shape though.

This sbra has so far been the most comfortable bra i've tried on. It doesn't cut into my tail of spence like most bras do. The downside is that I can't fill the top of the cups, and it gives me a pointy shape, and I'm unsure if it's a matter of needing a smaller cupsize or a different shape.

Nice cup shape for "average-fit" breasts, or breasts that are more sloping in shape rather than rounded at the top. The shape of the cup is fairly rounded but not perfectly round, and has a slightly more natural shape than many lined demi bras. It looks great beneath fitted tops. The memory foam lining is very thin and soft, and has more stretch from side to side than from top to bottom. The cup seems to run large compared to some other Chantelle demi styles in the sister sizes, like Icone and Vendome; the Icone spacer-foam demi, 3858, is about a size too small in the cup for ... me in 34C/75C, and the Vendome lined demi, 1919, is about half a cup size too small for me in 34C/75C. The Aeria mesh/spacer foam demi, 1296, does fit me in the cup in 34C/75C, although the shape is slightly too rounded at the top of the cup and puckers a little.

The straps are very cute, but they are quite wide-set and do hit my pectoral-muscle area just in front of my underarms when I move my arms forward. This will be great for tops with a wide neckline, but not for everyday wear. The straps are not convertible.

I like the little style details: the square crystal with the logo "C" over a flat rectangular bow on the gore, the flat satin bows on the double straps, the lace on the gore and wings, the top-stitching on the straps and along the upper edges of the bra. They add a sophisticated look without being over-the-top fancy. I also like that the elastic of the band continues along the bottom of the underwires through the gore, which helps to keep the lower cups from being stretched flat by the band when worn (the way it does on some bras on which the band completely ends at the side of the underwire).

This bra is old, and presently my cup size is a bit bigger. The bra has stretched and deformed a bit, though I still keep it as it is my only more or less fitting strapless bra. The measurements are a bit of an estimate.

When I bought it I was probably a true 32D/30DD and it fit mostly OK, though the band was a bit on the large side (I started wearing it on the middle hook, sometimes on the 3rd inner hook). The gore was a bit wide for me, though they almost always are. I have since altered it, but in the measurements I included the original gore size.

The shape is nice, though I now prefer the kind of shape my Cleo Juna gives.

I find this to be an incredibly pretty bra. I love that it's sheer, and it looks delicate but does support. I need a 30dd in this, but I had the 32d band taken in and it works nicely. My very soft breast tissue does jiggle on top as it's a demi, and the straps do dig in slightly by my armpits, so I don't frequently wear this bra. Since it's a demi, it works well for my shallow breasts. The seams show under thinner clothes, but I like wearing this under sweaters. Despite the short comings of this bra, i do like it. I feel pretty sexy in it. My spouse enjoys it too https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" />

I don't generally like red, or decorated bras, but I actually thought this was quite beautiful. It was unique and I liked how horizontal the cups were (as I seem to need that and it is far less common than a deep V shape). My significant other immediately noticed the placement of the starburst like pattern and commented on it being oddly placed, making boobs look cross-eyed. This seemed like a well made product and was comfortable on me. With a smaller band, I think it would have actually fit, but this was the smallest they had in store. The underside of the straps had a really soft, ... felt-like material that was really nice on my skin. The straps are extremely wide-set (although, again, this may not have been a problem if the band had fit), which is something I don't usually have an issue with.
It supported my wide-set, short-rooted, soft, deflated boobs....although it didn't give me a very flattering shape. I would have loved to try it in a 30D, but never would have spent $105 on a bra anyway.

This bra doesn't fit me perfectly, but I am keeping it because it is so lovely. There is a combo of wrinkling and cutting in at the top, and the bottom isn't projected enough. The wires and gore are a bit wide. It is pretty stretchy, too, so I don't know how long it will last.
