Fitting experience

I got fitted at Dillard's on Thursday. There isn't any other store that carries extended sizes in my area so... there I went.

The fitter wrapped a tape over my clothes for an over-bust measurement. That worried me at first but she soon found my band size. I already knew that it was between 32 and 34. I was happy w/ her knowledge of how bands and straps should fit, and her recognition that I had projection that needed accommodating, but her cup fitting I didn't trust.

I had to point out that I couldn't fill out the bottom of one of the bras she brought me. If I didn't know to do that, idk where the fitting would have gone.

She kept putting me in fuller coverage bras that squished me flat when I was quadboobing despite the fact that the side of the cups were digging into my armpits. NOT the wires as people often complain about, but the part of the bra between the wire and strap. I have had that problem often and have a dent and armpit fat because of it.

She seemed to have no knowledge of sister sizing because she brought me only DDDs in both band sizes. I'm not sure if there wasn't enough selection in a G cup (especially in the 32 bands) or if she was one of those people who decides a size and tries to find one that will fit in that size as opposed to trying other sizes when one doesn't fit.

Eventually she found me two 34DDDs that satisfied her. The first was Wacoal Awareness Full Figure Seamless (85567) which was stretchy but was flattening me like a sports bra. The other was Wacoal Red Carpet Convertible (854119) which felt like it fit (albeit tightly) but it looked strange. I didn't get either, but that's a subject for another post.

  • I had a similar experience recently. It's such a letdown, isn't it? You get excited about getting some new, pretty, comfortable bras, and then a fitter puts you in only the most matronly cuts because she can't get your size/shape right and seems to only be partly considering your feedback. Maybe you could go back in another time and ask to start with a 32G, without them measuring you.
