This bralette/soft cup wireless bra is from a new Canadian company called Understance.
I kept on seeing it advertized on facebook, so I decided to try (my first 'FB' purchase). I have been looking specifically for a bra like this - soft cup with built in padding, no underwire, longer band than what I need, 3 hooks, etc. I'm having sensory issues lately with tight bands that are too narrow or scratchy so I didn't mind that it was a 34DD instead of my usualy 30F.
This band is too long for me, but stays in place. There are 3 sets of hooks so I can adjust it. ...There is an outter layer of spandex feeling material on the outside of the band, and a inner mesh for extra durability and support (see pic). The straps adjust just long enough for my fall frame and are fully adjustable. The cups have a built in cotton feeling cups for modesty. I love the feel of these cups! It's thin but feels like a boob blanket. The lace extends a bit higher (check the pic).
I'm soft and narrow/short rooted. No natural 'lift' to my boobs, as you can see in this bra. It's not the most uplifting/supportive bra, but it's what I needed right now. My one and only complaint is that the cups cut into my tail of spence a bit, and so I can't wear it for a full day. I originally bought 2 but returned 1 for this reason. Their customer service replied to my email request to return and sent me a return label prepaid. Excellent company to deal with - great customer service. Easy to order and pay online, quick mail out time, and they delivered to a remote address for me. It retails for $68.00 Canadian, but I only paid around $40.00 on sale.
Overall Quality is excellent, super comfortable (minus tail of spence) and pretty good appearance for a full coverage bra.

Thanks BraOdyssey . I literally don't even think I've considered aesthetics of the bras I've been buying once over the last couple months... It's all about utility these days! I just added a few other wireless ones, but I thought I'd post this one to the front page. Sorry the lighting is shit.
Everything about this bra is very comfortable. I feel the construction of this bra is a good half way point between a typical wired, firm cup bra and a shapeless bralatte. The cotton all over is very soft! The cup shape is accommodating and gives a somewhat pointy shape but not to the extent that it looks bad in my opinion. I am a 32DD / 30E and these cups still fit well, and the band is a little looser than I'd like, but it's a size up from my ideal size so that's to be expected. It's not super supportive but I think that's mainly because the band is slightly too big. It's still worth keeping for wearing at home because it's very comfy. It's not very cute or sexy but I really couldn't care less about that.
It looks cute, how much do understance bras cost in Canada?
BraOdyssey They're based in and ship from BC and have discounts going usually like 2 for 20% off so they're not crazy expensive. Most of their bras have a wide size range to choose from. I got this bra on the "last chance" section of their site and it was only $10 which was impossible to pass up. They don't have this model there anymore but they have some others right now for around $15-20.
ooooh. As a fellow Canadian (BC-er), I gotta check this out. This would be a great sleep bra judging by the cotton fabric used!
A little too closed on top for my tall roots and cups seem to run a little small. Wish I could try it in a cup size up but I'll still keep this bra. It's great option for close-set breasts as the gore is low and the wires channels touch at the centre. Love the mesh wings because they don't cut into my back and create bumps. Overall well made and comfy as usual with this brand.
Not really a fan of the straps at the top (although they look neat) as they limit the depth of the necklines I can wear. But they're holding up the cups so I can't remove them.
This is my fourth bra from Understance. Compared to the others, the band is firmer and runs much more true to size. It is definitely a full coverage bra and comes up pretty high on me, however this was surprisingly not an issue. Normally I struggle with this style as I have short roots, however on this bra, the upper fabric somehow doesn't gape. The design is beautiful.
This bra looks great and I really wanted it to work, but it didn't quite fit. I don't fill out the bottom of the cup. The wire sits below my IMF at the bottom. It starts out in the right place when I scoop and swoop, but moves lower as I move around. Trouble-shooting on the Understance website suggests that this is because the bra is not deep enough or possibly because the cup is too tall. However, it is advertised as a very projected bra and I'm not experiencing any gaping at the top. So I'm not sure what is going on. You can see the wrinkling in the bottom of the cup in my side view picture.
Love the fit of this bra. I am close set with even vertical fullness and roots that are average height but slightly wider than average width. The gore is low enough for me and the mesh lining of the cups provides great lift and support. Also, it's advertised as "low coverage," but it covers nearly all of my breast tissue. Perhaps if I was more top-full or had less dense tissue it might be an issue as the top portion of the three-part cup does not have the mesh lining, just a stretchy lace. I've only worn it five or six times and washed it once, but it's still in pristine condition.
I am pleasantly surprised by this bra. I previously tried 30H - Understance » Ivy Smooth Lace Full Coverage Flexwire (U00 and found the band massive and the cups far too small. Yara fits really differently [I need to add new measurements to Bratabase so can't input my fit assessment yet]. The band is true to size, with the 28 band stretching to just over 28". The cups are significantly more projected than the Ivy; I could use a tad more cup depth on my larger side to avoid the cup cutting in slightly into my inner fullness, but the fit is close enough that it’s ...unnoticeable under shirts. And, most impressively, the wires are on the narrower side and an ideal width for me (5.5", the same as my 28GG - Cleo » Blossom (10581)!).
Quality is okay. The bra came with stitching coming undone on part of the band. I haven't worn the bra long enough to assess comfort, but the material is soft. The wings are just a bit taller than I prefer. Appearance-wise, it’s very much not my style, alas.
Update: After this bra for a full work day, I actually think it'll become one of my everyday bras. It's comfortable, and I didn't need to adjust at all--the straps never slipped, and the underwire did not budge out of my IMF. I did add one extra set of hooks from a band extender because I prefer a looser band. Read more 140 more words
This is probably the most lifting/supportive wireless bra I've ever had, but the scale of it seems completely off. The sides and back come up so high that they run out of room, and end up rolling over/bunching in my armpits. It's like it was designed for a larger body than mine and as a result, it's not very comfortable. Sooo much fabric!
I really wish this bra fit, because it's really pretty! But it's just too tall for me, and the wires are too wide. Instead of fitting like the plunge it is sold as it fits like its full coverage. It also puts pressure on the blood clot scarring in my armpit if I try to slouch while wearing it because the wings live in my armpits. Still better than all my old bras though.
Quality materials and construction, soft cotton cup lining, would be comfy if it fit me. Band doesn't press in on the sides which is great. Looks nice, I love lace. I think it may be too wide set for me as I'm not feeling as encapsulated/supported as I hoped in this bra. The width from the top end of one cup to the other is 14" and that's an inch wider than my pit to pit measurement. Maybe that's why.
Great quality, very soft materials, lightweight, comfy as usual with this brand. Appears to have little barely visible holes for air flow in the cups which would be great in summer. Fit was good on my 32DD size but didn't love the shape it gave. More of a soft rounded projected look on me but I prefer a more shallow shape.
This is one of my most favorite bras, so I'm very sad that it's been discontinued. Whatever the band is made out of feels like absolutely nothing and it feels amazing. I did size down to a 28 (usually wear a 30) due to stretchiness, but it feels good at that size. The cups do run large by about one cup size.
Such a pretty bra! I wish it didn't run as high under the armpits. The band is a bit stretchy, but that's ok since it is a "comfy" bra. Understance claims that this bra runs very full, and they recommend sizing down for someone who isn't as top-full. I have pretty even fullness and this bra is still a little empty for me on the top. Maybe if it were more compressive in the cup then it would be more full... who knows. The material is very comfortable, the wires are pretty narrow (but they run very tall), the gore is good on my close-set breasts, and overall it will be a great bra! Also, this bra works well for my projection https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />
This bra hold everything in! It’s tight. The cups have a tiny bit of stretch. The cup shape allows for a rounded shape at the bottom (there is space for tissue to pool into, rather than the cups immediately pushing the breasts up in a straight line). I like the silhouette, the wider wires and cup shape minimize.
I used Understance's calculator to get to this size, and fits overall except for one area.. I think the cup is too tall (the underwires "U" dip too low) because there's wrinkling near the gore there. (This causes the fabric below center gore to bend (ever so slightly) away from my torso because my boobs are pushing it down) I wish they designed this bra to be more deep rather than tall.
About me: I am probably full on bottom, a little wide set, and projected (mainly at the bottom). My underbust is roughly 28 inches (maybe a little bit under), and my bust roughly 31 (standing) and 32 (leaning). My suggested ABTF calculator measurement is 28DD or 30D for comfort, but I am not entirely sure what it should be yet.
Please note: I bought this Understance bra on its $10 CAD sale. The company wrote in its description of this bra: "This product has an aesthetic flaw ... However, there's a bit of extra fabric on the cups, which causes wrinkling and bunching."
After "scoop and swoop"ing and wearing for ...several non-consecutive days, here are my thoughts:
PROS: - Comfy and soft: the material is not itchy at all! - Look: nice deep navy colour, and the cups and mesh make it aesthetically pleasing. - Sturdy: seems like it won't break or wear down too easily.
CONS: - Band size: is too large for me, even on the tightest hook. - Cup size: gapes a lot at the top and outer edges (the bottom half is perfectly fine though). - Mesh wrinkling (above the cups): this is probably due to the overall cup volume being too large for me (due to a combination of band size and maybe cup size). If the volume was correct then I don't think the mesh would wrinkle on me.
I'm not going to complain about the fabric wrinkling on the cups themselves because that was the reason for the sale.
Conclusion: - Very comfy - But I need a smaller band size and maybe a smaller cup volume (so I would want to try 28D if it exists, and adjust cup size from there). - OR maybe I am too FOB and projected for this particular bra. Read more 182 more words
This looks super flattering for a wireless bra!
