  1. Modern Lace + Cotton (10207538)

When they said Modern Lace + Cotton, they really weren't kidding. It has some cute and stretchy lace along the tops of the cups, has some super comfortable cotton lining and binding, and it's modern by having what really seems to be moulded cups in spite of the former traits. The only seam is the line between the lace and the smooth black polyester, 3cm away from my own apex, meaning it must be 5cm away from its own.

There's nothing inherently bad about moulded cups, aside from the fact that, like padded ones, they are pressed into their shapes via a boob-shaped mould, and if your own boob doesn't fit it, then there's going to be some problems. I feel this already with substantial wrinkling, particularly along the centre due to my splayed shape, and there's empty space along the top because I'm not as shallow as the bra expects me to be.

It's a shame, though - this really is quite a comfortable bra, but I'm going to give it a pass.

I'm surprised how well the underwire fits under my breasts. There is also very little wrinkling in the bottom, which is a problem of mine. However, even though there's no spillage, no wrinkling, and no digging, I can't help but feel like it's not deep enough anyway. This is a high apex bra - the seams meet 13cm from the bottom, and my nipple is 3cm too low and too inward from the bra's apex. This probably contributes a lot to the squished feeling. I imagine that this would be nice for shallower breasts with high apices.

It is interesting that, compared to the 80F - Triumph » Delicate Doreen Non-wired Full Cup (10135874), there is so much more empty space in these cups, not only along the top but also toward the centre due to my splayed, full-on-bottom breasts. There is about 15mm difference between my nipple and the bra's apex. There is not as much wrinkling on the bottom of the cup aside from the splayed bit, so I appreciate that.

Compared to the 75G - Triumph » Doreen + Cotton 01 (10004928), there's still somehow 0.3mm of space between the gore and the centre of my chest - in ... spite of there not being much to be lifted from. I suspect it's because the band is bigger, therefore the rest of the bra is constructed in such a way as to expect more... just, in general. I do feel a little bit like I'm wearing an old sock.

For those who want to try a Doreen bra and have full-on-top breasts, I would recommend trying the cotton version as opposed to the lace, as that would accommodate you a lot better.

A nice lacey version of the Doreen. A key difference here is that the cups are not cut into the chest panels as in the regular Doreen; instead, a lace strip is drawn from the strap to the centre and the top line of the cup is elegantly sewn along. In order to stabilise the lace the strap hooks are in the back; they are still fully adjustable, however.

Instead of three panels to make the cup, there are only two drawn diagonally. This created a smoother line and it does comfortably cross the apex whereas the regular Doreen is likely to be off by a centimetre or two. ... Due to a lack of cup separation, the upper cup's panel actually makes a sharp curve downward to finish the gore and I must say it helps distribute the tension caused by splayed breasts. There is still a minor amount of wrinkling, but as much on the Cotton or the regular.

In terms of comfort, I'd put this between the regular and the Cotton. The scallop binding is quite soft, and the non-lace fabric is a soft polyester which glides well against the skin.

I could say all kinds of things about this bra, but it wouldn't matter because it doesn't perform the basic function of a sports bra which is to control movement. All I did was go up on my toes and bounce a little, didn't even leave the ground, and the girls were having a grand ol' time going up, down, and all around. The day I received this I also got a Glamorize Sport Double Layer Custom Control Bra (1166) in 36G which turned out to be a size too large in the cups. Even being too big the Glamorize controlled the bounce much better than this one.

Probably OK for light impact stuff and weight lifting. It looks cute, but I would rather have only sports bras that will do the job for whatever kind of workout I might do.

With this bra I'm unable to tell you the original band size as I have owned it for several years and in the meantime got used to tight ones - it is heavily adjusted. Weirdly enough, it didn't affect the fit of the cup, or very minimally. The central gore would perhaps be more narrow in a 32 band, but it is no real problem.

This is the bra with the best fitting cups I have ever worn. It is also extremely beautiful, the lace is simply lovely. It shows through light clothes, but you can't have everything. It is also supportive and I sadly never found a proper equivalent in my true size where the balconettes tend to be awfully high and full coverage is not my cup of tea.
