I have a watermelon red with grey trim colourway and the tag says S4490 which is the newer version of this model. B4490 is the older but it still floats around eBay too.
My measurements are 26" and 34" leaning. Even to FOT, shallow, average width, close-set, tall roots. Usually wear 28E in lieu of easy-to-find 26Fs.
So this is a 30DD. But this bra model is notorious for running very snug in the band. And I know that oddly some colourways run even smaller. And I used to own two B4490s in 28DD that were veryyyyy tight. So I chose to size up but I should not have. I bounce up top a little more than I'd prefer. Also the straps don't shorten as much as I need. I should have got a 28E or F. I wish it were an inch taller too for my really tall roots but I wish that about every bra.
It is my go-to bra for sport. I have two bras in this size and the band has streched a lot. I think it will not be supportive enough for larger breasts than mine but for me it is better than wearing a regular bra. It gives me a natural shape and not an uni-boob shape like other sport bra do.
It gave me serious OIG effect. My boobs are FOT, if not VFOT, and the horizontal seam on the bottom of the cup gave me a ridiculous silhouette. I also had quite an armpit spillage at the same time. My friend who's sharing same band size with me but a cup size lower than me fitted in it much better so I gave it to her (I don't know whether her boobs are FOT or FOB). I can't determine whether it was its small cup size or FOB preferring cup shape that gave me OIG effect, but I didn't bother myself to try bigger cup size.
Tight! I was looking for a sports bra in a 26 band and this is right between a 26 & a 28! The band only stretches to 27". While the white is opaque, my nipples do show through sometimes. This thing is comfortable. So comfortable I want one just for when my breasts are swollen and obscenely sensitive. I fell asleep after working out and still wanted it on when I woke up. The wings are high enough to secure me, but low enough to stay clear of my armpit swamps. I can get away with a few wears before washing it. Little of the strap is adjustable, meaning that ...the straps are a bit long for me (I'm high set) Despite the straps I can forget I have breasts with this on. They move very slightly when jumping or moving suddenly, but I don't feel them and forgot about them while running. Compared to being constantly annoyed and trying to hold my breasts down (in a bra) before, this sports bra is an absolute treasure! I'm ordering more in the white and dark grey colourways while they're still $25> on Amazon, because one of these is not enough. I'm really hoping the dark gray fits the same.
Lastly! I saw it mentioned that the older B4490 is thinner and stretchier than the newer S4490. I got a B and, well, you read the review. Maybe I got lucky, or maybe it isn't an issue for 30DD but it for other sizes, or just certain batches? I don't know. The mesh fabric and seams do show through on mine much more than the stock photos, but the texture didn't show through my shirt.
This is a very supportive non-under wired sports bra. This fits me pretty well. There's a tiny bit of wrinkling at the bottom of the cup that might work better for someone with a little more fullness on bottom. For me personally it's just cosmetic and doesn't affect its function. This 30DD is a sister size for me as the don't do a 28E but the band is still tight enough. It gives a good rounded shape under clothes. It's fairly high and closed on top which I don't need as support but I imagine would be useful for bigger sizes. the straps are quite wide and where they meet under the arm are a little stiff especially when when moving arms around playing sport.
I LOVE shock absorber sports bras, but this is way too small. I bought it without realizing the size and since it is a few sizes too small I have only warn it once.
I am pretty sad that this doesn't come in a 28E https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" />. It fits me well shape-wise - so much better than the 4490. But I can't get away with a 30 band for a sports bra. The straps are also too long. I do prefer the hooks on the 4490... These are more of a pain in my opinion. But in the end, the benefits of two sets of hooks are there: better fit, comfort, and support. I was impressed with the amount of support I got from a bra that is too big in the band (my underbust measurement is 26).
I would be very very happy if they expanded the size range for this model to include smaller band sizes. Till then, the search continues...
Everything that I've heard about how TIGHT the band runs for this bra made me think a 30DD was worth trying. I was surprised at how loose it was... True, my snug underbust measurement is a 26, but I'm not even sure the 28 band will be tight enough for me. The cup seems a little small as well... I was definitely quadboobing. However, I'm not sure I was filling the bottom of the cup 100%... I saw a bit of a crease. I'm hoping it's because a bra in a 30 band just isn't going to work for my frame.
So I have a 28E and a 28F on the way for me to try... I hope I can make one of those work because there are a lot of things I like about the bra: no pointy boob like my old freyas, looks good overall, comfortable, and the best part is the hooks in the back - great for comfort, fit, and support.
Since I'm a fairly shallow shape this bra isn't a great choice for me. It does keep me from bouncing if I jog in place but it still has some wrinkles around the cup. If I were to buy it again I'd go up a band and down a cup. However, it also has armsceyes that cut into my armpit. If I ran, this would probably be a "good enough" choice. However, I was gonna wear it while doing kettlebell swings and it drives me nuts. Boo https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" /> I think I will put this one up for a swap in the near future.
I LOVE THIS BRA. I can do sports again! I can jog without pain! I have literally cried tears of joy over this bra!
The band is very snug. Normally 30 bands are comfortable for me on the largest hook, but I'm able to fasten them on the smallest one. This one is a bit of a struggle to fasten on the largest hook, and the smallest hook would be impossible. It's fine for working out, but it is too tight to wear every day. I suggest sizing up if you are using it primarily for something lower impact, like yoga.
I'm very happy that you can also wear this ...bra as a top. It doesn't "look like a bra" as much as the separate cup, underwired ones. It also visually minimizes my breasts, which is a plus for me. I am comfortable wearing this without worrying about attracting unwanted stares. I also like that it doesn't come all the way up to my clavicle. I have the black one, but it is available in several bright colors as well. (Check eBay, I found mine for $20!)
Note: I intentionally bought this bra a cup size down because I have about a cup and a half difference between my breasts. I know you're typically supposed to size your bra to the larger breast, but I was concerned that I wouldn't get enough compression on the small breast if I did that. The larger one is a little smooshed and I have some spillage out the side, but it's not a big problem. Read more 151 more words
This bra worked really well for me in high-impact workouts (running, judo, etc.). It runs SUPER tight in the band, though, so you may consider sizing up a bit--if you are on the larger end of 28, this may be quite tight on you.
The back of the bra has an interesting setup. It has 2 separate sets of hooks and eyes separated by a keyhole. If you have issues with straps being too far apart, or have a less-full upper bust, tightening the upper set of hooks can help tighten up those two areas of the bra.
This is bit over a year old bra at the time of writing this review. I have two of the exact same color and size that I've been wearing as my all around bras during the year. Very rarely did I wear anything else, so both of them have seen over 150 days of wear, including sports like running, cycling, floorball and snowboarding.
It is a very comfy and durable bra, the band measurements are exactly the same as in my newly bought 30E of the same model (though not color, sadly). Better keep in mind when buying, that this one doesn't seem to be giving in at all.
