  1. This is my second Ultimate Run bra from Shock Absorber, because it's my favourite running bra! I bought this from Lingerie Outlet Store, and not only was this bra on sale for really cheap, but the shipping was also cheap and extremely quick to Canada (they shipped it on March 6th, and I received it on March 13th; one week later)! I'm highly impressed.

I've had the chance to wear it a couple times now, and there is no discernible difference between this colourway and the black colourway in terms of how it fits and feels when I'm running (except being able to wear it on the loosest ... hook, whereas I have to wear my black bra on the second hooks now that it has stretched a bit). There are only two differences in terms of construction that I can see, and that is 1. they've used a wider, padded eye tape on this one, and 2. there seems to be some thin padding in the top of the straps. The only negatives are 1. it smelled strongly of chemicals right out of the package, but that dissipated quickly; and 2. there are a handful of thread and fabric ends poking out, but I really had to search to notice them, and nothing seems to be unravelling, so I consider this just cosmetic; and 3. I have to wear the shoulder straps on the tightest setting right out of the package, but as far as I can tell, the straps haven't stretched at all on my black bra, so this should be fine for the foreseeable future.

Overall, I'm super happy with this purchase! Just for a quick recap on the fit of this bra, it does run about two band sizes tight (this is a "30" band that fits quite snug on my 25.5" ribcage). I prefer this bra over my Panache Sport for running, as I like the mild compression, it doesn't feel nearly as bulky, and I feel more secure and "locked in".

      Looks comfy!

    • 1

MamaPagan It is surprisingly comfy! It feels really lightweight on, and I barely notice it (if at all) when I'm running.

    • 1

Definitely good qualities to have in a sports bra. I am glad it works so well for you.

    • 1

Looks like it scoops well right and firm at the lower breast portion without a gap. Essential as comressive support bras could sit lower and contribute to a downwards bend right where vibrations tend to delaminate the skin from the chest.

    • femineaaeterna I hadn't even thought about that, but you're absolutely right!

Congratulations! What a great deal! The colours are great on this too!

So, this is my second Shock Absorber Run Bra. I own a 32DD already that I'm wearing for running, and its band is still pretty tight after several uses and washes, and I wanted a less tight one for yoga and gymnastics. So here it is.

First of all, I did a side-by-side comparison and couldn't find any differences between this bra the older one, which is a Shock Absorber Ultimate Run Bra (B5044) (mind it has a B, not an S). Cut, fabrics, finish, sizing and band - everything is virtually the same.

Second, surprise: The 34 band feels comfy on my 27"/29" ribcage (measured firmly/loosely). It's ... firm but not restricting, and it's not shifting around when I'm moving. Perfect.
The cups are quite generous and fit my boobs well, although I'm currently on the larger side of 30E. I'd say the cups *do* run 1/2 cup large in this one, but you can cheat somewhat by setting the straps tighter. If you get wrinkly cups while the straps are on their tightest setting then the cups are too large.

The support I'm getting from it is superb.

Comparing to other sports bras, I found the Ultimate Run less restricting than the Shock Absorber Active Multi Sports (4490). The fabric of the Run sports bra is more lightweight, thinner and less stretchy at the same time, with pre-shaped soft "moulds" for your boobs. So it acts more like an encapsulation sports bra, while the Active Multi is definitely a compression sports bra that works by squishing boobs closer to the body using stretchy fabrics.

Also, the Ultimate Run is waaaay lighter than the Panache Sports Bra (5021) and doesn't feel like an armor when you wear it. Plus it's machine-washable.

Let's talk about boob shape in different sports bras.
While the shape I get in the Panache Sports is pretty close to a regular random moulded bra (due to the moulded and heavily padded cups), the Active Multi Sports looks rather minimizing and has some of the dreaded "mono-boob" effect going on.
The Ultimate Run finds a good balance between both: It's considerably more lightweight and doesn't add padding to your shape, like the Panache does. But it doesn't flatten your boobs all out, like the Active Multi. Overall, I'm pretty impressed by the shape it creates without any wires.
I guess I found my new favourite sports bra.

    Hasn't set fit

I’m between a 30 and 32 band right now, and my 34 band Shock Absorbers were feeling tight, so after a lot of searching (why is this brand so hard to find now?) I found this replacement. The 36 band was definitely the right decision. It is actually that tight! Which means if you’re a 26 band in an H cup or smaller in need of a sports bra, you should definitely check out their 30s.

The cup size is about right as 36DD is a distant sister size to the 30FF I’ve been wearing day to day. It’s a little roomy and I could probably do a 36D, but it was really hard to find that size for some reason. The small bit of extra space doesn’t compromise support, anyway.

I appreciate the the red and blue as opposed to the usual boring black.

    • I've always felt that the shock absorbers are tiny!
      Srsly, I tried a 30 and it was a 26 for sure.

I wonder if they use the +4 method.

Awesome bra for runners with a small band and large breasts. It does not restrict me in my movement and in contrast to the Panache Sports bra, the racerback hook does not cause me pain and is in the right place. The material is very comfortable and soft (also easy to wash and dry), and still feels nice if you`re all sweaty.

The "cups" (no real cups, just some extra space) work nicely with my breasts (FOB, not too wide, very soft), there is no spilling on top or on the sides. My breasts stay where they are, even during intense workouts.
As with all Shock Absorbers I ... ever had, the band of this bra is very tight (I need to go up 1 band size) and does not stretch out quickly.

Edit: I would like to point out that the band of this bra does not appear to stretch out at all after 50+ uses (1h of running each). Do not buy this bra in a band size which is too tight under the assumption it will soon stretch out!

I bought this sport bra second hand in my sister size (36G) instead of my actual size (34GG). It is a unwired compressive sport bra.
The band fits correctly but as the cups are small for me, I have a little of quadboobs in my cleavage.
Neverthless this is a great high impact sport bra that reduces a lot of the bouncing of my breast. I wore it twice during a mountain hiking for a 6 hours period each time & the bra was comfortable to wear & didn't give me any pain.

  6. I got two of these (this one and the gray one) for wearing in Jiu jitsu after one of my bras didn't provide nearly enough support. The bands on this style run small. I'm normally a 28D/30C, and I needed a 32C. Otherwise it's got really great support!

  7. I bought this to wear for jiu-jitsu because the style they recommended for martial arts doesn't come in my size. The band for this style runs small; I normally wear a 30V but needed a 32C for a proper fit. Otherwise it's a good, supportive bra for working out in.

  8. I received this bra along with a different Shock Absorber in 34E. Funny story, I got them mixed up at first and thought this one was the 34E. Wore it all day and it was _painful_ by the end. I was thinking it had to be the smallest 34 band in existence until I looked at the label and saw it was actually the DD cup. I’m probably between a 30F and FF right now, so I guess the 34DD, a sister size of 30F, is just too small. The 34E Shock Absorber, which is a zipper front, fits much more comfortably. I’m going to measure them soon and will update this when I do.

Update- I was wrong again - the cups are fine; the band really is just that tight. I got 32 inches with a very hard pull, BUT I recorded 31 because there’s nearly an inch of unusable band length on the left end before you can actually hook onto something.

    Didn't fit

This bra has a beautiful bright red/gray color combo, much nicer than the all back version that fitted me ( http://bra.pe/X2O2/ ). These super shock bands though!!! The band is super tight! I can't even fasten it. Would suit someone with a true 28 band size better, it stretches to 28" with a hard pull!

This bra is not owned any more

Lol, I had to turn this bra around to get it on so I know need to go up a cup size, but I do like the support that bra gives -- it reigns my breasts in by about 11-12cm.
