What I love about this bra: the fabric. It is everything! High quality feeling and looking. And so soft and silky. The band fabric is so nice too, not that usual stretchy thin mesh. Also this bra features something I have not seen on another bra before: there is some light padding where the bra-clasp is...so the hooks would not dig in. I also like the thick shoulder straps. There is no stretch in the top section of the Cups.
My shape: Center heavy soft pendulous boobs, rather narrow and tall roots, slightly full on top.
The problem with this bra is, that the wires are too wide on ...the sides. The cups are quite tall but I think that is to be expected on a bra like this. I had some slight wrinkling on top of the cup on my smaller boob. But I also think that these cups are quite tall but at the same time are not very roomy on top. If this bra had a stretch lace on top I could probably size down to 32HH and have wires that fit me better. I don't think it's a bad bra at all. I would totally wear it, if I had no other bra around, but I did not like that the shape was a bit east-west. I also got some digging in from the straps in the first 15 mins of wearing, that is not a good sign... I wonder if the Fantasie shape is not compatible with my boobs? Read more 145 more words
I ordered the Illusion mainly because I loved the color. The Willow colorway is a light, silvery green that is very pretty in person. The Illusion is a very full coverage cup, and is closed on top. The bra is a little big for me in a 32J usually, but it's perfect for days when my breasts are swollen.
I will keep this review rather short because I have an in depth review of the 32J - Fantasie » Illusion Side Support Bra (FL2982) in navy where I describe the fit and also how the bra wears out with time. So spoiler alert, this bra stretches and wears out rather quickly. After four months of regular wear I am about the retite the navy blue Illusion. The band on navy has stretched out by 3cm compared to this bra!
This beige bra I bought at the same time. Since this is currently my only beige bra in my collection I reserve this for occasions where my ...outfit requires to wear a beige bra. So I have not worn this as much as the navy one and it's still in good condition. There are some tiny differences between this and the navy blue one. First the part where the eyes for closure are sewn on is more padded on this. That's nice because sometimes if the fabric there is thin, the metal pieces can dig into your skin expecially if you wear your bands tight. Second this bra just runs a tiny bit smaller than the navy one in cup.
For now I will keep this beige bra and wear it as long as possible, it gives me just slight cutting in. I will definetly not repurchase any Illusion bras as the quality is lacking and they wear out quite quickly. Another down side for me is that I would best fit a 32JJ which they not make so the 32J was always a bit of a tricky fit. The bra is quite comfy and I still recommend if you are within the size range, just be aware that it migth wear out quite quickly esp. in larger sizes. Read more 191 more words
Fantasie Illusion is by far the best Fantasie bra I tried so far. Usually their shape - wide, and closed on top does not work for me. This bra is made of amazing fabric, very silky soft feeling but still sturdy. It's an everyday staple. It's like Tango is for Panache but better. The upper cup is made of thick stretchy fabric. It's completely different to the sometimes really flimsy delicate stretch laces on bras like Panache Jasmine or Andorra. The band is amazing, it's is made of thick woven material that stretches just in the right way. It's a very smoothing band. It's gold standard and ...all bands should be made like that.
my shape: narrow - medium wide tall root, full on top, center heavy and projected.
The fit: so it's not really perfect. But it's good enough I like to wear it. It's very comfortable and supportive. the wires are just the right width for me but wouldn't recommend if you need narrow wires. Cups are tall enough for my tall boobs. The stretchy top part does allow to scoop from top and keep the breast tissue inside. It gives a smooth round shape.
The sizing: Band is true to size. The cups however in my opinion run larger. If you follow me here, you see me struggle with 32K 32KK bras these days. This bra in 32J almost fits me! To be completely honest if it didn't have the stretchy fabric on top then there would be quadboob. My ideal size in this bra is currently 32JJ but I can make the 32J work. Sadly this bra stops at J-cup and I can't size up.
UPDATE : 4 months of wearing the bra regularly (twice a week) I have to say the quality isn't that great. At least if you have larger boobs keep in mind that this bra can wear out quickly. The band stretched out 2 cm, there are loose elastic threads coming out of the band and it feels less supportive. I still try to wear it occasionally but it isn't the same also now it's weaker the wires start to hurt me ... will have to retire this soon sadly. Read more 259 more words
I already tried this bra in a 32HH - Fantasie » Fantasie Illusion Side Support Bra (FL2982) and it was slightly too big in the cups. I'm usually a 32HH/J in UK brands. Since I really liked the materials and the quality of this bra I decided to give it another chance and sized down to 32H. I have to say that the wires are good width for me and they are not too tall under my arms. Also I like that the straps are not too seperated in this bra. I have problems with straps that cut in my arms on so many bras. ...This bra was good for my frame and my rather narrow shoulders (for my size). The band runs true to size and it is a thick satin-y material that does not stretchy too much. Overall the bra materials feel very high quality, very nice silk-y and soft to the touch but still sturdy.
On the 32HH bra the cups were slightly too tall for me and I had some empty space on top. On this 32H the cups are the right height. But the top section of the cups is not stretchy and there is this elastic band at the cup edge that is the enemy of every full-on-top boob, it just cuts in. Oh how I hate that elastic band. Since I already know that the 32HH would be too big, I give up on this bra. I'm happy though that I found out that there are wires on UK brands that are not too wide for me. Too bad the bra does not work on tall roots and a full on top breast shape. Read more 176 more words
3 months ago I tried 32J - Fantasie » Fantasie Illusion Side Support Bra (FL2982) and it was not a bad fit just slightly too wide / tall. Apperently I lost quite a bit of breast volume so I decided to try a smaller size. The fabric and quality of this bra is excellent. Honestly that band is everything. No cheap mesh or elastic that cuts in. It's made of a really thick still stretchy fabric. I wish it worked for me.
At first I was confused what is going on with this bra. But it is obvious it is just too big in the cups. ...There is wrinkling on top and I have some empty space. I wear a size 32 band in almost all my bras. In this bra it felt loose. But judging by measurements the band on this bra is not longer than some of my other 32 bands. So it's the cups that make the band feel loose. I did not tighten the straps very much, I can fit 2 fingers under them and they don't fall off. I cannot fill the top of the bra so it also could be that this style of bra is just too tall for me. Compared to some of my other bras, it looks like this bra runs big, cup height and depth is similar to my 32JJ Bravissimo bras. I'm not sure if should size down to 32H of if this full cup style does not work for my boobs at all. Read more 149 more words
The most important thing to know about my breasts is that they're very pendulous and the tissue is very soft. I have relatively narrow roots, medium height. They're also splayed and wide-set.
Man, I really wish this bra worked for me! It's so soft and smooth. This one has a four part cup construction, and a section that acts as a side support sling, which is really nice. The lace inset at the top of the bra is just beautiful. Unfortunately, the cup is too short, so it digs in at the top of my root slightly, despite the stretch, and there isn't enough depth at the IMF, especially my right breast, to make it work.
The Illusion Side Support Bra is a totally different type of style from my other Fantasie purchases, but I picked it up because I saw the lovely Rose colorway was on sale. I was surprised to find that this style ended up being my best-fitting Fantasie bra so far!
The Illusion style reminds me very much of the Panache Olivia, which has stretchy elasticated cups. While the bottom cup of the Illusion is actually lined in rigid tricot, the overall fit on me is similar to the Olivia because the upper cup is made from a similar soft elasticated fabric. It gives a rounded shape with ...no visible seams. I was very shocked that the side support panel in this style didn't cut in and create emptiness at the bottom of the wire and outer cup because I typically have trouble with this construction.
Comparing the measurements of Illusion to both Olivia and another Fantasie side support style that doesn't fit me quite as well (Nadine), I was surprised that Illusion's cups actually run slightly bigger than both styles. This leads me to believe that the cut of Illusion is slightly different from some of their other Side Support styles, where I get the orange-in-a-glass effect because the cups are designed for breasts that are more projected. In this case, Illusion seems to be suitable for shallower and more spread out shapes. I also tried these with my Commando Takeouts to bump up to a full 28F, and it still fits very well, so these cups can absolutely accommodate more breast fullness.
I believe the reason for the better fit in this style is because of the more forgiving fabric, a cut that's more suitable for my shape, and the tall and supportive wings. While the measurements of the band is about the same as the other 30 band Fantasie styles I have tried, the wings are much taller and are made from the same firm stretch fabric as the cups. This provides much more support than the narrower powermesh wings of the other styles, and because the wings stay in place better, the cups are sitting on my body appropriately without a lot of extra help. The caveat to this is that the very deep leotard back leaves no room for alterations as the band immediately becomes too tall to fit into the hook. You would need a level of sewing expertise that I don't possess in order to properly alter this band. So, ideally I'd size down one band size if this is an option for you, though in my case it is not.
In terms of construction, I am really impressed with how Fantasie has designed a comfortable yet supportive bra for the full bust customer. The band is really designed with the right level of support, and I really prefer this taller wing height compared to their standard mesh bands, which I feel are on the narrow side. The hooks are actually padded on this style for comfort, though this wouldn't be noticeable if you're wearing a band that isn't snug. The straps are medium width satin picot-edged elastic that are fully adjustable. I like this .5" strap width as it is wide enough in my size range to provide support without being too wide to fit under clothing. The special stretch upper cups are particularly comfortable and easy to fit.
The details on this bra are simple and sleek to match the overall bra's aesthetic, but I think they are nice and suit the bra's styling well. The upper cup has a hint of floral pattern knit into the lace. The interest on this bra comes mostly from the mix of satin textures utilized on the strap, upper edge of the cup, trim at the bottom of the cradle, and pattern on the lace, juxtaposed with the fairly matte fabric of the cups, band, and cradle. The center gore is a simple ribbon design, and accentuated with minimal rose gold hardware.
This is truly a comfortable and elegant unlined everyday bra for me, and I am happy to have found it for my collection! Read more 595 more words
Very comfortable to put on, but soon it feels like the band wants to slide down on my torso. No matter how much I try to adjust my boobs within the cups, there are wrinkles at the bottom of the cup. My shape is narrow, even, projected with average-to-short roots, close-set with lots of upper-center fullness and soft, saggy breast tissue.
Tried this in both the seasonal pink/rose and the permanent black, and found the fit and materials slightly different. The pink/rose was more comfortable with a bit more stretch, while the black was more stiff and a bit itchy. Kept the pink/rose with patching bottoms.
