Purchased an inexpensive "red" bra extender from ebay and although the hooks are spaced a bit different than the bra they still work together and hold up comfortably with all day wear. I just needed about an inch or so and this bra is just as comfy as my original Ava in Black. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />

    Reviewed: October 21, 2011

This is the exact same style as the black Ava just in a beautiful Red color. (See full review above) It fits significantly tighter ... and was uncomfortable the first time wearing it. The band is 2cm smaller at 61cm where the Black version is perfect for me at 63cm: so much so that I want to wait to wear it again until I can get a 2-hook extender. The quality of material, cup size and everything else is wonderful.

    Measured unstretched immediately before wearing.
Purchased in Red, Mid-October '11 from Brastop.

My immediate impression upon opening this bra was that I didn't like the color. The online pictures show it being much more of a creamy white, but in real life it's definitely true ivory with strong yellow undertones. Not my favorite.

The fit is OK on me and very true to size. I almost always fall squarely between cup sizes, and in this case, 30D probably would be the best fit, because in the 30DD I have little gaps at the top edges of the cups. It does not show under shirts, however (a problem I had with the Freya Deco/Lydia), so I may keep ... this one; I am still undecided. Unfortunately, per Fantasie (via email), this bra is no longer made in 30D.

As for shape, the Ava bra really lifts you up and out there. That has been the case with all the Fantasie bras I've tried on, and I love that about this company -- they really know what they're doing in the shaping department.

The foam lining is thin (1/8" or less) and stiff compared to the Panache Porcelain Lace bra, my absolute favorite. To the hands it has almost a crinkly feel which isn't noticeable during wear.

I do recommend the Ava bra, if you can get your proper size. It is so difficult to find a well made, well fitting t-shirt bra!

    • The Ava is a gorgeous style despite the Ivory shade. I am considering the Red or Black, it's just so pricey in US$. So aside from the shade you really quite like this bra? Shape is great?

    • Oh, absolutely. As long as they have your size I would say don't even hesitate. The Ava bra is incredibly supportive and the shaping is probably the best I've seen. Shortly after writing this review I learnt I was expecting, and as I (ahem) filled out on top, this bra looked and felt fantastic. I can't say enough about Fantasie designs. Wish they would make nursing bras!!!

    • Have you ever tried on the Fantasie "Gabrielle" Soft Cup? I see it's part of their continuity line but it seems so difficult to find! Also, have you tried ASOS for maternity bras? I'll tell a little horror story: Once I ordered a molded underwire from there and it was shipped in not a box but a plastic bag! Sure the cups weren't perfect but it was the underwires I was more concerned about being bent. Returned!

Anyhow, I'd probably recommend trying non-underwires from them. They have a couple cute Freya soft cups, they're always sold out in my sizes. I'd love to know how they run compared to other Freyas. Out of these top UK brands I have just one soft cup so far and it's from Panache, Sophie. Super comfortable. Happy maternity findings!

    • Have wanted to try the Gabrielle for a while now ... might be time to search it out in my size. Also have had my eye on the Panache Sophie for some time. Thanks for the buying tips! :-)

Dewberry (pinkish purple) color. Bought from Brastop, tried on for fit then measured.

This bra fits comfortably in the band (the band runs tighter than the Freya bras I've tried on, which is good), but the cup is too large, I could probably go with a 30FF. I think the issue might be more that the cup is designed for breasts that are more full on top than mine, which are soft due to weight loss (even though my breasts only went down one cup size with 40 pounds of weight loss). Even though there's an empty space on top, the molding is VERY firm, definitely more firm than ... the Deco, and therefore, you cannot tell that I don't completely fill this bra. I actually get a small amount of quad-boob if I don't have it adjusted right, because my breasts fill the bottom of the cup well but don't quite have the shape for the top of this cup.

The straps are fully adjustable, and I have them adjusted almost to the shortest they can go. That might be because the cup is a bit too big, though, rather than that the straps are unusually long.

I'm not sure yet if I'm going to keep it or not, the quality feels very good, it gives a good shape under clothing, and it's a pretty color. It was also affordable. However, it isn't the right size. Brastop doesn't have a cup-size down, so I'm probably going to try it on again tomorrow, see how it looks under tee-shirts, and see how I feel about it then, before deciding if I will return it or not.

  4. Ava in Black.
The fitting lady at the store told me people sometimes find this bra has TOO MUCH uplift, so I knew I had to try it. It isn't too much for me, but I like a lot of lift... it might be too much on someone with high breasts or someone short?
The moulded cup is very hard and keeps its shape very well. The shape is also far less round from the side compared to a lot of other moulded cups, which I like.
The bra is fairly comfortable during the day, but not so comfortable that I'd happily wear it as one of my lounging-around-at-the-computer bras. It looks great under t-shirts and shirts!
As you can see in one of my photos (I didn't realise at the time), the straps can sometimes be a bit wide, but that's a problem I have with bras in general.

Edit: Now that I'm a 28 back, I have to do it up to the tightest hook but it is quite a firm band regardless.

Cups aren't quite big enough, however I think a G cup might be too big (I don't have access to a G so I can't say for sure). I suspect I may be in-between cup sizes. Center gore doesn't quite touch my sternum, this could be because the cups are too small however I think the gore still would not touch even if the cups were the correct size.

I can't quite fill the bottom of the cups, and the underwire sits uncomfortably beneath the breasts. I feel this is because the breast tissue can't fill the very bottom of the cups, so it pushes the whole underwire and ... cup down slightly, causing the underwire to sit too low on my ribs. (The band is not too loose, that is not the issue.)

Profile view from the front is a tiny bit wider than I like, but it would not be a deal-breaker if the bra fit everywhere else. Profile view from the side is not what I would call extremely round, but it is "fairly" round. Straps are a bit too far apart which is a very common problem for me, but a strap accessory in the back takes care of this.

Overall this seems like a nice bra, but it's just not compatible with my body. This review is for the Ivory color of this bra.

I'd been coveting Ava in more colors since I fell in love with her over a year ago. It felt magical to find the dusky pink version in my size. I was a bit hesitant about buying another "fashion" color since the red Ava I have was tighter than a red 30FF I'd tried on in a local boutique long before I bought it as well as my drawer staple ... Ava in black.*

Pleased to report Dewberry is an identical fit to the original black and ivory versions in every way including the most important factor: comfort. I look forward to the upcoming Rebecca style especially with AW12's violet version since blackberry Ava is the most evasive color to find in my size!

Purchased early-May '12 from eBay. Measured after a mere few hours of wear.

Able to try both FF/G in-store I found the G cup was too roomy. So far, Fantasie is the only brand which I feel runs comfortable enough TTS in both pieced and molded cup styles, personally.

Side wings are a great medium height, cup is an excellent curved shape. IMO it's more of a balcony-style than a true plunge due to the slightly high gore at 6½cm. The fit is fab so I can overlook this slight. Honestly, this is my 1st bra after wearing for 7+ hours I can't even tell I'm wearing it at all. This is great news! I liked it so much I immediately bought a second so I can wear the same style consecutive days! https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" />

Purchased Jan '11. Measured unstretched immediately before wearing.

I bought this bra at least 6 years ago (possibly more) and it is still my favorite and best fitting bra. It is very comfortable, and the molding in the cup gives me a great shape!

The band is a bit firm for a 30. The wires are too wide for me which made it uncomfortable. This bra requires a FOB/Even shape, with lots of projection at the apex. Overall, it's very, very high quality. I bought it for quite the price at a local boutique, but it just ended up not working out for me.

The best bra I have ever tried! My boobs are very heavy and saggy, and this bra gives them phenomenal uplift. Seriously, I cannot see my feet when I put this bra on! I just wish it came in nude.
