When I was in Kraków, Poland for work recently, I wanted to visit a store where I could try on some Polish bras 'in the flesh'. Didn't have much spare time so I could only visit 1 shop for max. 1 hour.. Some googling led me to *Brafitteria*.
I was somewhat disappointed when it turned out they mostly sold regular / UK brands like Freya, Gossard, Cleo and Panache.. No Avocado or other Polish brands. But luckily they did also have a small collection of Ewa Michalak! My experience with EM so far was limited to the two bras I already owned (70H - Ewa Michalak » ...S Turkusowe Kwiaty (703) and 70GG - Ewa Michalak » Pl Kicia Szałowa and I had never tried any unlined EM bras.
I was especially excited to try Czarna Mgielka, as I've coveted that bra for years but was never sure which size to order.. and semi-cautious because I'd read about scratchy fabric / tight band, high wings and possible stabby gore; making me want to try it on first. The Brafitteria store had Czarna in 70H (too big) and 70G (too small). So a classic Goldilocks moment 💁🏼 but very useful to determine my size and confirming that the rest of the issues I could deal with. So YES I still want Czarna and I'll probably order it soon in 70GG!
Anyway, back to (edit: not Ty Wiesz but) Ja Wiem..: I had _not_ expected to fall for this bra. I'd seen it around on EM's website but I dismissed it as too boudoir (and too expensive to justify buying just for occasional wear) - and I didn't like the rhinestones. But at the Brafitteria store it was one of few bras in my size, so I did try it on and... WOW, epic uplift! This bra felt great, almost like it was made to measure. No straps chafing my armpits (hallelujah!), no wrinkling, comfy band, wires pretty much perfectly matched my IMF.. And I actually really liked the design. Very pale powder pink with contrasting black seam finishing, like a ballerina gone bad girl 😉
So, because I had allowed myself to get one bra as a souvenir from Poland, I bought the set!
I've worn it frequently over the past few weeks, with good results. This bra is really well-constructed and very comfortable. The 70 band fits snugly on the second (out of 4) set of eyes. Same as my other EM's in a 70 back, that I've been wearing on the 2nd hook from the start and progressed to the 3rd hooks on thinner days or between washings. Fine by me and as I've found Ewa's bands to be pretty stretchy-but-sturdy, I wouldn't go for a 65.
So in this bra's shoulder/armpit area, I don't know what magic they used but the straps do not bother my armpits - at all. On my first EM (Kwiaty, S style) the straps were wayyy too wide set and I've altered them since. On Kicia, my second (PL style) it was better, but on this SM the strap placement is awesome. Hoping Ewa will apply this to more future bras! Also, the wires are nice and low under my armpits! Chafing straps and poking wires often bother me, but this really is a happy-armpit-bra 🙂 Yay!
However this bra is probably 95% but not 100% perfect, some small issues considering projection / size: The wires are quite narrow (feels like a smidge too narrow, perhaps?). After wearing, the wire marks on the side do align well with my breast root / IMF but under my boobs, the marks are a bit too low. This is often an issue for me (and usually much worse), with buckling / folds & 'orange in a glass' in bras with insufficient projection. In this bra, the projection angle is a bit weird actually. It doesn't project forward (like a 90' angle) but more upward (like a 50' angle), if that makes sense? I believe this is also what makes the wire slide down a bit. I'd almost consider a 70H for projection - and because on my bigger side, there's some in-cup quadding next to the black seams, where the powder pink fabric has more 'give' than the seam. But the cups in this size are already quite tall on me (the straps will definitely show under anything other than high-necked shirts) and the 70H Czarna was definitely big, confirming that 70GG is probably the best size for me in unlined Ewa's.
Oh and I also bought the matching strappy briefs, which look amazing on (with many laces & straps, great design!) and fit very well in size 40. So far I've experienced Ewa's briefs and thongs to run pretty generous, as in other brands like C'Kate, Gossard etc. I normally wear 14 (42) and sometimes even upsize to 16 (44).
So all in all, some nitpicking issues aside, Ja Wiem is great and I'm very happy with this unexpected purchase from Poland!
P.S: Sadly the rhinestone adornments cannot be easily removed like I'd hoped, as they are actually part of the sliders to adjust the upper straps. Guess I'll have to get used to them or attach new sliders. Removing the straps is also an option but IMO this would make the bra less special? Read more 781 more words
I love this bra! I missed out on Ty Wiesz which would have been my first choice but only because I think the tan would be a little more flattering then the pink. It's so sexy in a classy way. It is made to the usual Ewa standards and both the bra and the brief fit perfectly.
Pros: Super gorgeous, great quality, comfortable, low gore, spaghetti straps are fully adjustable, straps are pulled in a little because of how they're done on the back, lots of bows and sparkles, and it lays relatively flat under clothes.
Cons: Seems shallower at the wire, straps are almost a smidge too long.
I'm going to preface my next four reviews with a few points: -I ordered these bras at the BF sale, which was well over two months ago -my breasts have had a lot of growth lately -I knew, thanks to several BtB users and their suggestions (but I'd like to shout-out to Mamapagan for her phenomenal amount of help, time, and insights) that none of these bras would fit due to what Mamapagan and I are dubbing as the Teapot Effect.
Teapot Effect Explanation: Because my breasts are large, pendulous, and Omega shaped, it can be a little difficult to gauge one's correct size. So while it may seem like a too-small ...bra works, it still has some somewhat manageable fit issues. My breasts can "fit" into a J cup just fine, right? But here's what's really happening. The cup is lifting only a portion of my tissue (important to remember the REST of my tissue isnt even in the cup) which still gives me that signature EM rounded look. But the cups soon begin to sag under the weight of my breasts. In turn, this causes my band to slide up my back and the underwires on my bras to slide down and dig into my ribcage. Finally, my excess tissue that was never in the cup to begin with, starts to escape from the tops of my cups, much like pouring tea from a teapot. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />
Onwards to the review!
Yikes. The SM really just doesn't mesh well with my soft tissue. As you can see, my tissue is actually being pinched and wrinkled in the cups. The shape is also off.. kinda lopsided. The cups are too small. The band ran big in my opinion, even for a 60 band. Read more 185 more words
Edit - I am disappointed that the cups in this bra in this size are NOT 4 part. Gorgeous bra. Very sexy but does not look sexy on me at all. The band was very loose and is comfortable on the tightest set of hooks. The fabric is some sort of magical flimsy mesh. I feel I am too heavy handed (and boobed) for a bra this delicate. I am sad to have to send it back - the doubled straps in the back are heavenly.
I lusted after this bra the first time I saw it and when it went on sale at Zathyia I decided to pull the trigger. The SM cut by Ewa Michalak is new to me and it is achieving great lift but I have some other fit issues due to the mesh not having any stretch and the cup design - not apparent in my pictures is the puddling of side breast tissue on my larger side and also if you look closely the underwires are not in my IMF which means this cut is too shallow for me OR the mesh will not allow my tissue to the bottom. Nevertheless I can still find times to wear it and hopefully by summer I have dropped a couple more pounds and I won't be as squished in. Emojis are for modesty - not as brave as some of you! 🌸💐🌸
This bra is really sexy with these straps. I must admit, it looks really nice and fits quite good. I don't know why some bras has so wide straps and some of them like Ja wiem and Rozowa mgielka are just perfect for me. Also they're not too long, so ladies with low boobs may struggle I guess. The straps on my boobs should be adjusted differently, however this doesn't look nice, so I have to find the fit for both somewhere in the middle. Wires are again very comfortable like in mgielka, fit perfect around my boobs Cup depth, unfortunately this is the place where troubles are ...coming. It's not like this bra is one size too big. It's only like 1/3 too big on my bigger side and 1/2 on smaller. It's a acceptable actually. The shape that Ja wiem gives is deifinietly better than Rozowa Mgielka (I wish mgielka gives this shape so I'd keep it) but still not as good as my BMs (gosh I'm in love with bm style so much ❤️❤️). The band is comfortable, not tight not loose - perfect! Overall I'm very pleased with this bra but it's just too sexy, I have no use of it as my bf lives far away and we see each other not too often.. So I have no use of it and keep it for just looking at it there's no point. It's really nice and worth to try it on Read more 137 more words
This bra was the reason why I placed my last order. At the first try I was a little bit disappointed. Not because of the look, but because of the fit. Even if I had read more reviews of “Ty wiesz” before purchasing, I wouldn’t be able to predict all the issues. Happily they're not important enough to send the bra back.
The band – it’s just a little bit looser than most of my other bras, I wear it on the second hook out of 4. Otherwise, it’s very comfortable.
The cups – this is where I am disappointed. My only SM bra, czarna mgielka, has become one of ...my favourites. It gives a very rounded and natural shape which I love. I supposed that other SM bras would give a similar shape but the both I recently ordered definitely don’t. The shape is pointy and the bottom of the cup is shallow, definitely not suitable for those who need projection. Since my breast tissue is kind of “malleable”, this is not a major problem, but the result is this pointy shape which reminds me of the 3DM Pompadour. If find the cups particularly low in this bra. It’s not perfect for my breast (I have a little quad boob), but it goes well with the design of the bra.
The straps – as already mentioned in many reviews of its twin “Ty wiesz”, “Ja wiem” has very long straps, certainly because of the double strap feature on the back. I think that the straps length should have been adjusted to this but it seems that the adjustable part of the straps has a regular length.
These issues affect a little bit the fit, but the bra is so beautiful that I’m definitely going to keep it. I love the light rose tulle. This colour matches my skin tone even better than the nude "Ty wiesz". I would love to wear it under white tops but I will certainly never dare https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":D" />
A very sexy bra with beautiful rhinestone accents! Reminds me of many gorgeous pieces by brands like Dita von Teese and Marlies Dekkers that I've admired from afar but unfortunately been sized out of. Graphic black lines over pale pink tulle, which fortunately doesn't read as overtly "pink" on pale skin. The straps are only half adjustable, but are noticeably more narrow-set than other SMs, perhaps because of the double-strap configuration in the back. The shape, sadly, is not as rounded as some of my other SMs.
Ja Wiem was one of my favorites back when it fit. It's a super sexy, sheer bra. All my pictures show quadding. I want to mention right now that the band always ran big. I tried two before I settled on the 30J (tried a 30JJ approximately a year prior?) The band just runs big.
LOVE THIS BRA. The cups are kinda tall, and since I'm high set, it gives an interesting cup fit. I have at least 1/2" space between my IMF and the wires (cant move the bra up, its already in my armpits) and since the cups are so sheer it looks a bit strange.
