  1. Jewel Bra (S186NF)

    Fits

I will first share my "stats": FOB, centre-full, narrow roots, average root height, I believe I have a combination of firm and soft tissue. I'm 5'7 tall.

Thoughts: my first Avocado bra! (or "Avocouture," as they're called now).

I wanted to add another Polish bra to my order (I had a shopogolic.net order and I wanted to order enough bras to make the final shipping "worth it") so I decided to try out Avocado: as far as sizing, I cheated because I found a blogger who was measuring the same as me https://www.sweetnothingsnyc.com/2016/11/03/review-avocado-jewel-bra-and-short/ and I bought the same size that she ordered - because ... it turned out to be on sale! So, I though it was fate. I was measuring 32GG. So, I sized up in the band and down in the cups.

The sizing seems right: if you can believe it, I think the shape is actually a bit minimizing under clothes. The underwires are WIDE, and almost like "eyebrow-shaped" (upside eyebrows), or Nike swoosh shaped: I feel like the bra fits even though I have several "thumbs" of space on the side - between the side underwire and my actual breast tissue. It doesn't bother my comfort level, and the bra is still supportive.

The way the underwires are shaped, I do think the bra is actually a bit minimizing (I know I've said that before). Instead of having my boobs *front and center* like Comexim and Ewa Michalak, I get a *slight* East-West shape and I do think the underwires kind of minimize my boobs (I know it doesn't look like that from the pictures, but underneath my clothes).

However, because it's only 2 thin layers of mesh on the bottom, your nipples will show through- at least for this particular style. If you want more nipple concealment in a soft bra - probably try Ewa Michalak BM?

Wearing this bra, I felt like I had a SUPERPOWER, lol, because it's so beautiful and it's such a confidence boost to have my secret well-fitting & beautiful bras/underwear on, that nobody knows about! I sort of regret that I didn't also order the matching undies - but I don't think they had my size left, IIRC.

Black isn't my colour : ( , but I saw this and I wanted it: the back on this bra is amazing, even though it probably doesn't look like much, but the FABRIC used for the wings is durable, yet SOFT. So, that is what you are getting for the luxury price point. I've tried other luxury brands (like Katherine Hamilton) - yes, I know the word "luxury" is just a marketing term - and they don't use the same quality for the back/wings of the bra, but I 10/10 recommend. It makes the back of the bra so soft and comfy - like I said, I have no other bras like this to compare to.

So, even though I *love* this bra, there are two downsides for me. I don't mind that it's not exactly *thin t-shirt appropriate* It is sheer, but that's fine b/c I have other bras I can wear for thin fabrics. One downside is: the beautiful embroidery in the front is just a smidge scratchy for my sensitive skin : ( It's still wearable, and I didn't develop a rash, but I do sometimes notice it's scratchiness (this probably doesn't apply to all Avocado designs though).

so if one has sensitive skin, I've never had issues with Ewa Michalak or Comexim bras (if Polish bras are your thing), even their more ornate bras are still soft, imo.

Lastly, I did notice *on my smaller side* (right side), the strap did cut in a bit and cause some chafing on my right side. I'll experiment and see if I can make the strap tighter on that side and see if that can alleviate that issue - but I'm not sure. The straps are wide - they don't seem too wide for me (or annoyingly wide either) - I was trying to angle them in throughout the day, but ideally I would not have to adjust the shoulder straps throughout the day.

Because of the above issue, I do wonder how "petite friendly" Avocado is?? They might not work so well for people with short roots, or high-set breasts in this style and size. Although I do think that their 60 bands - being so tight - they may work for an actual 55 band (26 band UK) person. I would definitely size up in the band and size down in the cup, perhaps more than one cup.

The price was great, 165 pln so about $39 usd on sale (their January clearance), which is an excellent price for a bra like this, that's ethically made. I happened to buy them through a package forwarding service, but after I purchased through them, I realized Avocado ships basically everywhere, and they also use affordable shipping : ) So, I wouldn't hesitate to buy direct next time.

Even though I do have a few minor issues, like the scratchiness of the embroidery in the front, and the mild chaffing of the bra strap (a little bit of an "armpit eater," that's why I question if Avocado is good for short roots - probably not) I could not part with this bra, because it's beautiful, and it makes me feel like a MILLION BUCKS when I wear it, lol: every woman/bra wearer should have a bra like this! : )

I'll probably buy another Avocado bra in a year or so, I'm going to do more research and build up my Avocado collection slowly.

edit: there is elastic on the top of the cup. I think this style (NF) could tolerate *slightly more* fullness on the top than what I have - but not a ton more, lol. I wonder if it would cut into FOT shape.

Oh my gosh it’s beautiful on you!!! That embroidery is gorgeous. I’m with you, I’m not a fan of black bras, but this is very pretty. I think the lace makes it unique as opposed to a basic black bra. Hopefully the itch goes away with washing.

      Happy2BraShop , thank u!!!

I know, I'm going to wash it and hope that it softens up just a tiny bit - it's wearable but just a little scratchy which can happen with some of the more ornate bras (unfortunately).

BEAUTIFUL! Thx for your thoughts and recommendations 🙂

So true. I love me some fancy bras, but I value comfort over all. Only thing worse than an itchy bra, is itchy lace underwear! Haha.

    Didn't fit

I received it through the bra swap site and oh how I wish it fit. Based on reviews and their calculator, I should be a 75H in Avocado bras. My best fit yet is a 32G Panache Jasmine for reference, though the wires are too wide for me. Unfortunately, I'm at the beginning of my quest for ABTF, so I don't have much else to provide by way of comparison.

Avocado Mirabelle in 75H fits comfortably around my frame, so that was bang on. Unfortuately, there is a lot of wrinkling at the top of the cups near the strap which leads me to believe that I ... have shorter roots than previously thought. I am only 5' 0" tall and short waisted, so though my breast tissue seems to go up toward my collarbone I'm not truly tall rooted. I am, however, quite projected with even fullness. I can fit a finger in the gap that is created above the underwire in my IMF (this is the case w/panache Jasmine too), which I believe means that I need a bra with more immediate projection. Alas, the search continues.

I should note that I thought I read somewhere (after I bought this bra) that Mirabelle ran a bit large in the cups. I will definitely try this style (is think it's the A style) again, as I like a more full coverage bra sometimes. Furthermore, it does seem as though it gives a nice rounded, though natural, shape. It's quite pretty, as well.

This is a pretty bra well constructed of quality materials. Unfortunately, the top line of the cup is incompatible with my upper fullness. Sizing up in the cup wouldn't help because the wires are already on the verge of too wide and the overall cup height is very tall for my short frame. The band is very stretchy as well as running a bit large - on par with a UK 34.
The gore seems higher than the picture would indicate, so I am guessing that the pattern changes for larger cup sizes.

I guess I'm the third owner of this bra!
I also have a lot of center fullness, like elkie, and the gore also does not tack on me. In addition, the bottom of the cups are too shallow for me, which means there's empty space visible at the bottom of the cup.
I have deep, center-full, balanced top-bottom-fullness, somewhat soft breasts. I'm currently wearing around a 30H, but the band on this was tight enough that I was interested anyway.
Despite the fit issues I describe, I absolutely love this bra and wear it often! It's one of the most comfortable bras I own, it doesn't give me quadboob at ... all (though the gore doesn't touch my chest). It has a rounded, somewhat minimized appearance under clothes, and reduces cleavage a bit (I show cleavage easily).
It's also profoundly beautiful, on and off! Much more so then I realized from the stock photo. The details are beautiful (the matching stone on the gore!), the colors are awesome together, the lace is soft and comfortable. The "K" style cups are a better fit for my breasts, but I know I'll be wearing this constantly, especially as I can't afford new bras from Avocado right now.
I'm not sure if the sizing is wonky on this one bra (that has had three owners now), or if the style fits unlike other Avocados (The bands have been true-to-size in the other styles I've tried), but I'm so glad I tried this one!

This bra is stunning. The gore doesn't tack on me. It seems like the fabric of the cup where it attached to the center gore is not curved outward enough for me. I have a decent amount of center fullness, and so I think the tension is so high in that area that the gore is being pushed away from my sternum.

The fit is perfect otherwise, a tight band but I have plenty of extenders. Of this were a different bra I'd probably get rid of it due to the gore issue, but it's just so lovely I'm having a hard time parting with it https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":D" />

    • Ha! That was me. The bra was obviously too big but I just kept looking at it and thinking that it was too beautiful to sell.

That is one firm 75 band.

The lilac/blue embroidery is breathtaking. Has a semi-precious stone pendant attached to center gore. Lower sections of the cup consist of two layers of brown mesh (upper layer embroidered), upper section of one embroidered layer.

Fully adjustable straps are also embroidered halfway.

Materials used are great, construction is impeccable.

Too big in the cups and fits on the tightest hook. The front half of the straps are covered in the blue lace but it would be possible to adjust the straps over it if needed. Pretty little multicolored striped bow at the center gore. Three rows of three hooks. The coloring is nice, dusty blue flowered lace and sheer unadorned brown mesh. The back of the band is not mesh, but and opaque bikini-like quality. The back is brown.

Will be returned. Too flowered lace for my taste anyway, but ordered as a size try-out, so it was not a surprise it didn't fit. Band is definitely looser than the Annick in love in the same size.

It seems my Avocado size will be a 75G, perhaps a 70 band. I was adviced to size up in the band by Avocado, but the band wasn't as "polish" tight as I had expected.

Too big in the cups, band fits on the second hook. Pretty little bow at the center in two pattern (rosea/dots). Cups is blakc mesh with small dots. Cups are trimmed with green ruffled band. It's not elastic in cup or band. Back of band is not mesh but of an opaque bikini-like quality. The center gore is perhaps a little too low for my shape and maybe floats a tiny bit - but mostly because it's low, I think. But it is definity still a balconette, not a plunge a all.

It will be returned, the 75G was a better fit.

I feel a bit like Goldilocks. First I ordered a 75K, which I estimated as two cup sizes too large. Then I ordered a 75H, and it's a cup size too large. By process of elimination, I'm now exchanging for a 80H (yup, the band felt a bit tight). I can't say anything else about the bra except that it is beautiful.

I love the detail of the mesh fabric which extends a bit beyond the top of the bra as defined by the ribbon.
