NOTE: the cup width differs. The left cup is 7” wide, the right cup is 7.5” wide. The averaged measurement is what I recorded.

This was one of those rare times when something looks 100 times better in person than it does on the internet. The detail on this bra is GORGEOUS up close: I am so in love with the cute little key on the gore and the stretchy lace. The fabric of this bra is both stretchy and supportive, comfy and breathable, yet luxurious and fancy all at once. Honestly, this bra is both an everyday bra or/and a lacy bedroom bra, able to seamlessly transition ... into whatever role it needs to fill. It has a cute little line of elastic along the top of a cup that I LOVE LOVE LOVE having on bras. Aesthetically and style-wise, this bra is a slam dunk: 10/10.

However, this bra did not fit, for a lot of reasons. Although the band felt like it was exactly the right lengthand fit, the underwires painfully cut into my body underneath my boobs: there was no amount of shimmying that could fix it. I can only assume this is due to the shape of the bra’s wires: when you place this bra on a flat surface, its wires are completely flat against the surface while the band sticks out in a straight line with the bottom of the wires. In most bras, this doesn’t seem to be the case, and the band will angle away from the bottom of the wires, so perhaps this was the issue. Further, the gore came up way too high, and felt like it was forcing my boobs into a very east-west look as it drove them away from each other. The strap placement was so wide on my body that they only reach my shoulder on one side (the good shoulder), whereas the other just kind of dangles down. I could not fill this cup in any way, and it was comically huge on me in terms of depth, width, height, etc: it’s clearly off by more than a full cup size, in my humble opinion. My boobs also appeared to be heavy enough to cause the fabric to roll over itself, but this could also be a function of having zero support from straps and a massively too large cup size. The gore of this bra is also twisting heavily, such that it absolutely will not lie flat against my sternum and causes the cup to bend a little and lose support on the right side wher it meets the gore. The wire width and height were also more than I’d like, but wasn’t necessarily a problem, and was probably also an issue of a too-huge cup.

All in all though, I think I could really enjoy a bra with a cup like this that supports my boob while letting it take a natural shape. Even if this bra specifically is not going to work out, maybe another Avocado or similar style would. I’d need the straps much closer together, and perhaps a smaller cup size than I’d thought. Does anyone have any styles they’d especially recommend?

If it helps, Avocado uses a 4cm system instead of the typical Polish/EU 2cm, or 2.5cm (1") that the US/UK brands use. This would result in larger jumps between cups and the need of a smaller cup than your standard index size.

It is a gorgeous bra, sorry it didn't fit.

MamaPagan I had no idea, thank you so much! How would I go about doing a conversion?

    • 1

I haven't tried them personally, a bit worried about the sizing chart myself! But if you click the link I added, it takes you to their size chart and that should help you pick a size for their bras. I would check the size it gives based on your measurements but also against the size range given for your bra size in other Polish brands. So, check Comexim's size chart, go to your size and see what measurements it says you should be for that size, do the same for Ewa, etc. Then compare the size suggested vs the CM range you tend to need. If that makes sense?

That does make a ton of sense, thanks!

The Comexim bra from Breakout Bras came (which I thought was the right size) but still gave me fit issues. Review is still pending, as I’m travelling for the holidays and haven’t had time yet, but it worries me about finding a bra that fits at all, even in brands I’m familiar with (like Comexim).

That is understandable, especially with the growing inconsistencies that we are all experiencing lately. :-/
BoB Comexim bras just don't seem to fit like Comexim direct bras so it is not surprising that you didn't get the expected fit. Sorry. :-(

MamaPagan thanks. Maybe direct is better, but I was trying to avoid the long wait times and costs of shipping from Poland. Even then, rough bras still appear though :\

Yes, indeed. But Comexim direct shipping is actually pretty cheap now-a-days. 20zl for 1-2 bras vs Ewa's 47zl. And production times have been faster as well. My BF order (2 bras) shipped within 2 weeks which was fast by Comexim standards. But yes, Rouge bras are still a possibility. Yet that seems to be an issue across all the favorite brands lately.... :-/

My shape: Projected, narrow, shorter roots, even/functionally full on bottom, soft tissue. Cleo Lily fits me best.

I think this bra might fit true to size (30GG-ish UK) for someone with pretty short roots.

The wires on this bra are much too wide for me, so I won't be keeping it.

Absolutely gorgeous bra. I love the lace on this. Unfortunately, when I bought this, the band was a bit tight. It fits now as I've lost weight, but now it's way too big in the cup and I'm about a UK 30G. I'd keep this bra if I thought I might fit it one day since it's so pretty.
I'm a big fan of the Avocado A cuts as well, I wish they hadn't discontinued the cut. It gives a beautiful naturally rounded shape, lots of support as well.

Wow, the first ever Bratabase review of an Avocado bra - and I get to write it! https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":D" />

First about the brand. It's Polish, and high-end, which shows in their prices (almost double compared to EM, for example). Since all Polish bras I've seen look stunning, they're not distinctive in that regard.
Avocado does not have an english site yet, but their very friendly customer service (they speak excellent english, by the way) informed me that they'll be taking steps in the near future to better serve international customers. I hope this means they'll add PayPal to their payment options - I ... paid via money transfer.
About the bra: The Annick is a balconnette, made of see-through black lace.
    Pros:
    - Beautiful design
    - Excellent quality
    - Low underwires
    - Soft material

Cons: Since this bra was at least two cupsizes too small for me and the band was tight, I can't say anything definite about its shape.
    - Underwires felt soft
    - Band stretchiness a mystery (may be very stretchy)
    - Cups run small. According to the Avocado size chart my overbust measurement 104cm should fit fine into their 65K which has an overbust measurement of 106cm, but it's WAY too small. I'll be exchanging this to 70L (which in Comexim bras is too small for me...), hope it fits. If not, then we can write Avocado off the list of brands that cater to really big boobs. That would be a shame, for their designs are beautiful.

BTW. I didn't add the stretched band measurement as the bra is going back.
