So about those knickers...

I don't know why it hadn't occurred to me before, what with how bra bands and tight waistbands on lower rise pants affect the way body fat can tend to appear thanks to the ongoing regular constriction...but...I've noticed that many of my lower-rise knickers are settling into a new dent they might have actually been creating much like low rise pants would do at the hip (which is one of the reasons I don't buy pants with a low rise if I can avoid them) and it's not a size issue per se. I did a bit of research with going up a size and found those knickers were too big in the front and to a lesser degree too big in back. It may be an issue caused by the cut, the way industry sizes knickers, or a combination of factors which my body simply isn't shaped for. The more fabric a certain style of knickers has, the worse it fits on me - high cuts and briefs, in particular. The materials used could contribute to the situation but that would likely need to be in conjunction with the construction process - stitching the extremely narrow elastic to cotton blends will take on a particular appearance which going through the laundry a lot has the time to cause such an effect.

Having recently-ish lost some weight around my midsection, maybe the dent has been there I just couldn't see past my boobs and tummy before? Anyone else have some insight and possible suggestions for a non-surgical solution? I still can't see my feet, but that's because my boobs are in the way, and the size my feet are - I think...;)

  • I agree with you that this can happen but I think you'd have to be wearing your undies quite tight to get a lasting indent. Are you sure this isn't one of the delightful effects of weight loss and/or the passage of time? As skin loses elasticity due to either one of the above, we usually start to look generally lumpier and less smooth.

While both are certainly possible, I've asked the Mr and he had an interesting point about my tendency to wear knickers under tights and stockings - which may just be his mind working at ways to get me to go commando but I'll play along if it is about that for the moment - and sitting down a lot for work with both layers on under a skirt may contribute to the issue. I suppose I'll have to forgo one or the other to see if it helps.
