Comparison between brands

I don't really have physical stores where I live, so I have to rely on ordering from ASOS/Ebay/etc, which makes me a bit new at this, as I have to send a lot of bras back.

I have had great experiences with Panache, Panache Cleo, and Gossard, but... when I bought one Freya (a beautiful longline), I found the band was loose/not as snug compared to these other brands (all of them 34 bands). I didn't find it loose enough as to be unwearable, but definitely looser than what I find the most comfortable. Does anyone find the same? If I am ever to order Freya, do you recon I should size down on the band, or is it a problem with the longlines?

That incident put me a bit off of trying Freya again, as I have to go through the hassle of sending things back, or trying new brands other than those with which I had success. This includes Fantasie and Curvy Kate. Could any of you ladies please tell me how these brands compare, band-wise?

  • Yes, Freya bands run loose. Fantasie on me runs one size tight in the band and a size small in the cup. So my normal 34F in fantasie needs to be a 36F ... I think. Like you, I've stuck to a few brands I know. Chantelle, Panache (my fav) & Freya. Curvy Kate fits me like panache in the soft cup styles. Showgirl line is a different story - need to up the cup size by at least one & the bands are stretchy (not as bad as Freya though). HTH

  • Yes, you are exactly right! Freya does run loose in the band. I am a 30GG in Panache balconette styles (30HH in full cup), and in Freya I can wear a 28H. Not all styles come in 28 bands, so I often settle for the 30 and just wear it on the tightest hook. If it really bothers you, just take it to a seamstress and have her alter it. In Curvy Kate I find the bands run loose on some styles, like the Showgirl series, but not in others like in the Romance line. I find their cups run true to size, as I am a 30H, which is what the bra calculators have me at. I ordered a tankini in 28HH, so let's see how this fits; it will arrive soon! I do think Panache's balconette cups run small, though.
