Measuring bands...

I'm starting to wonder if I measure things differently than others. When I measure a band, I go from the last (meaning outside... furthest) set of eyes to hooks. I don't measure the bit of band that sticks out after the eyes.

I also don't stretch the band as far as humanly possible. I try to just stretch it until I can feel it solidly resisting, but without distorting the wires *too* much. Some bras distort wires as soon as you pull on them, so it's impossible to not distort at all, but I try to keep it reasonable.

And I try to measure after it is freshly laundered and dried. I don't measure immediately after it has been worn.

Do other bratabase users do this differently?

  • I do include the bit that sticks out after the last row of eyes (too fiddly for me otherwise) but in all other respects I measure the way you do: pull only until I meet real resistance, not to the point of serious wire distortion, and preferably right out of the package/right after laundering, never right after wearing.

  • I was initially measuring the extra bit of band that sticks out past the eyes, but then I noticed that the instructions said not to, so I went back and remeasured everything I had entered.

I'm lazy about doing measurements, so it wasn't a ton of work.
