Okay... I just saw that my blog has been linked to a porno site

I'm grossed the fuck out and I'm freaking out! I clicked the link and was instantly thrown lots of porno pictures at me. I didn't see a picture of mine because I panicked and put the page down. Is there anything I can do about this? I know that I can't have it removed but what can I do to prevent this in the future? Nothing? =/ Also... Any other bloggers who have fallen victim to this?

  • I have no idea what to do except maybe create a creative commons license for your posts and images (I know you can do that for work that you publish, I'm not sure about images) that states that any adaptations of your works may not be shared. Copyright laws are powerful, but I don't know to what extent something like that can help. If it was linked there's not much you can do about it, but if they published your pictures you can raise hell.

This makes me sick. All we're trying to do is be comfortable with our bodies and our image, and they sexualize us against our wills at every turn.

    Good luck.

EDIT: Additionally, if that site has advertisements on it or is behind a paywall, you can have a license that states that there may be no commercial uses of your work. Law is definitely not my thing (scientific researcher here), but that seems like it could protect your work on your blog.

  • People violate the copyright all the time... It's a piece of writing that basically means nothing unless you're willing to press charges, which in turn would give more focus to my pictures :( Can watermarks be easily removed with editing software? If not I'm thinking I could add a watermark to all pictures where I'm only wearing underwear.

I think it's sick that people steal pictures like mine when they're obviously not shot in a sexual manner...
