Hello ladies! I must admit to having some confusion about band size. I thought conventional wisdom said that if you measured an odd size you went up one, and if you measured an even size, that was your band size. For example if you measured a 41 or a 42, your band size would be 42. After reading some of your adventures and comments, I see that many of you are saying that your band size should be one or even two sizes smaller, and the cup size larger. At this point I don't want to consider cup size, since as a man, I don't fill the cups anyway. My bras are almost all 42 bands with cups ranging from b to e, and I seem to fill the bottoms of all, but not the tops, so they wrinkle to some degree or another. If I go down a band size on my favorite bra, the Elomi Caitlyn, I will buy the smallest cup size, which will be a 40e. Currently I have a 42dd and a 42e in that bra, and the fit is normal for me, I fill the bottom but not the top on both bras. I understand how closely band and cups are related, but otherwise, I am fairly ignorant. The 42 band fits me comfortably. It seems tight for a few minutes and then very comfortable. I have tried the two finger test with no problem, but it seems like a very inexact standard. I mean if your fingers fit under but the circulation to them is cut off is it the correct size? ; ) I am hoping the Wonderful Women of this site will give me a better insight into this problem. Any and all comments welcome. I have a coupon for a free bra coming from an online retailer, and I'd hopefully like to make a decision before the coupon arrives in the mail. A smaller Caitlyn, or try another bra? Any suggestions for a bra similar to Caitlyn? Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  • It's really personal preference.Cause of how much squish I have on my back and all,I have to size down to get enough support....otherwise I end up with a backache and all sorts of problems. Also some bands run super stretchy while others don't...so I could end up wearing anything from a 34-40 band!
But others find wearing a band with plus 2-4 is alright with them..it just depends on one's body.

  • For me I measure 33 ribcage so I normally wear a 34, I have tried 32's and some of them are o.k. but most are too tight for me and the wires are too narrow. Like Sparkles said it is all really personal preference. However if you band is riding up in the back you should at least try going smaller.
