Recommendations please?

Has anyone tried Bravissimo's Satine basque? I've written to them asking for sizing advice and haven't heard back yet (only wrote yesterday) but thought some input from the real world could help. Does it run small/large in the back/cup, what shape is it, anyone similar to a 34JJ tried it at all?
Failing that, any other good recommendations for a plunge bra in the J+ size range? I've ordered Ewa Michalak in SM Trefl and PL Charlie but have no idea what the fit will be like.
I have an evening gown situation....

  • I haven't tried the Satine basque, but I did try the Lola basque. Bravissimo's half cup bras' wires are nice and wide and perfect for me. Their customer service people are clueless about wire width, though. When I emailed them to ask about the basque's wire width, I got a non-answer answer. The basque arrived, and the wires were incredibly narrow. Fully a third of each boob was popping outside the cup. Stupendous waste of money shipping back and forth to the U.S.

The other thing I've repeatedly read about Bravissimo's bras is their half cup wires are wide, and their non half cup wires are narrow. The Satine basque is based on the Satine plunge, I believe, which would make their wires narrow.

I'm a petite size 2 generally in U.S. sizes. The Lola basque's body was comfy. It didn't have shapewear properties, but it wasn't loose, either. I have slim hips, though, so if your waist/hip difference is strikingly hourlgassy, keep in mind your torso length matters tremendously. In that case, you could try emailing customer service and ask them to measure the body length of the basque.

  • Thanks so much learningaboutbras, that's really interesting about the wire width. I have the Bravissimo Alana (AU01) which is slightly wide on me, and I think that's considered a 'halfcup' (?? not sure what criteria judges it that, just heard it somewhere) so maybe Satine will be good for me. Although, I wear Alana in a K. So fingers crossed. They wrote back to me just now with some semi-helpful advice, so I'll post the results when my purchases arrive...
