Sep 09, 2013 -- Freya Deco Soft Sup: why u sides so lo?

Because I get these weird hypersensitivity episodes where bands and wires just suddenly irritate the heck out of me I have been looking for a more or less wearable non-wired bra for some time now, but without the slightest hint of success. My latest attempt is the Freya Deco Soft Cup. I managed to try this bra on in store in 30E -- it was an incredibly hot and sweaty day and my breasts were at their fullest at that point, so it was somewhat difficult to assess the fit properly, but the band seemed okay and the cups slightly large. Shape-wise it seemed surprisingly promising, so I ordered a 30DD online -- and now I'm really puzzled.

I just can't decide whether this bra fits and even if it isn't perfect (no bra ever is), whether it is worth keeping even if it's only to wear it on 'one of those days'. My biggest gripe is that the sides in this size are so ridiculously low on me -- and I am ridiculously short through my upper torso as well as high-set, go figure -- that I feel my breasts just won't stay in the cups. Also, the cups are fairly narrow to my taste -- but that would not have been so much of an issue had the sides come up higher and had there been some sort of side seam boning providing some structure. IF I decide to keep this bra I'm definitely going to add side seam boning, but I'm just so confused right now.

The band is also feels significantly tighter than expected, but I'm sure that a band size up will have it ride up to my neck, because I do have to tighten the straps quite a lot to get the cups anywhere near my chest. And because of the lack of a 'proper' centre gore it really shows how my chest 'caves in' a little bit at the height where the band sits: the band forms a little 'bridge' between either side of my ribcage with a gap high enough to slip my entire thumb under. I can literally see straight down to my belly button.

As to the shape this bra gives it really is VERY good, but in all this bra is a bit of a disappointment. It has so much potential, but just falls short of the mark ...

  • So, a little update:

I decided to keep this bra and have now worn it two days in a row. Conclusion: I think I may have found another favourite!!! Seriously, this bra is COMFORTABLE -- I wasn't sure when I first put it on, but after wearing it a bit it just felt 'right', if that makes any sense. Shape-wise it rivals my Braologie Casual -- I am suspecting it even gives me a tiny bit more projection, and the lift and shaping are equally superb. Fit-wise the Braologie may very slightly better, but this Deco Soft Cup comes close second. As I am so short and quite possibly in between sizes the cups cover a lot of my chest and there is some gapping when I move, but otherwise I really can't complain. The cups seem exactly the right width and depth and for a bra that certainly has room for improvement it comes pretty darn close to perfection.

It has no underwires and yet outperforms 90% of the bras I have tried -- how crazy is that?!
