Sep 07, 2013 Panache Tango

So. I finally got a couple Tangos (Panache Tango Classic Plunge (4806) and Panache Tango Classic (4801)), and I'm loving the feel of the fabric, even though the straps on the 34H ones I have are still slightly too wideset. The ideal pull point with the bra on my body (without altering the cup construction/support) is about 1" lower and 3/4" inward from their current locations. They don't try to saw my arms off (fabric not as stiff, edges not sharp, don't get in the way as much because they will move with me), so I'm dealing with it for now. I know the classics are discontinued, but I'm assuming the cuts are supposed to be like the current Tango II lines and it's only really the fabric that is changed?

The full balconette gore is slightly too high for me, but it doesn't poke that much unless I'm sitting on something squishy like a couch or I'm bending forward at the waist a lot or slouching. The plunge gore is like heaven, but the top edges of the cups could use a tuck or two to make them fit the flatter inner-tops of my splayed boobs better; the extra portion is more in the length of the cup's top edge, not really in the volume. They both seem to fit me if I'm standing properly and gape when I push my hands forward, partly because of overall cup height and partly because of the wideset strap issue. I'll have to try both cuts in 34GG to see how that changes things. The slightly narrower wires might actually be good, too.

I wore both with an extender (hooked to center column) and experimented with hooking the lowest hooks looser and the highest hooks tighter. I think my straight-almost-concave back and my bottom-of-ribcage flare are forcing me to adjust how my bras are tightened. After experimenting in the new bras, it's kind of obvious how much my ribcage flares at the bottom.

(That's a whole other adventure I need to draw pictures for to explain. Now it makes sense why Panache generally fits me and Freya/Curvy Kate/Fantasie/others do not; the way the back band portions of the bras curve downward at the fastening ends is a lot more severe in Freya, et al. and is WAY more straight across in Panache. There will have to be a series of pictures and drawings/diagrams that I just don't have the time to do right now.)

Overall, I'm thrilled with the Tangos. I think that after trying the 34GGs and some minor adjustments like rounding out the planes of the wires and possibly fastening tighter on the top hooks, I will find a bra that I can buy multiples of in the Tango lines. Yay!

  • I never knew about Tango "classics" before this post. Thanks! :-)

The Tango "classic", in your photo, looks similar to the Tango Porcelains. The Viva and the new Marni are great fits for me, so now I want to try out a "classic". I love the fabric used in the Porcelain t-shirt and Marni.

Have you tried the Tango II Balconnet or Plunge? The tops of the cups may be just what you're looking for!
