Sep 06, 2013 - Tutti Rouge, oh my!

I received my two Tutti Rouge bras and one matching brief in the mail. I couldn't wait to try everything on since I've heard such good things about the brand; it seems to be friendly to wide root and shallow girls.

First thought: HOLY TIGHT BAND BATMAN. I ordered 28Es in Betty and Lottie (though received a 28F in the Betty because the owner of the shop I ordered from said she had to size up so I probably would, too...oddly enough, the fit isn't that off). Anyway, I could barely clasp the Betty! I've never worn this tight of a band before. I haven't measured it yet, but suffice to say it would be great for girls with sub-28 underbust measurements. (My BTT measurement is 27" and these still need extenders to feel comfortable.) The Lottie is tight but not uncomfortably so.

I was more excited about the Betty, so I tried that bra on first. I only had really minor gapping, and it's mostly near the gore, but it was hard to tell if the underwire was sitting in my inframammary fold because the band was so tight and I had a difficult time pulling it up. The gore also was also stabby, as it came up higher than I'm used to. The gore isn't too wide, though, so I hope I can get used to it with the help of cotton pads. The only other negative was how wide the cups were on the sides. They were probably a good inch too wide. I can't imagine that any girl needing a 28F would actually have breast tissue that starts halfway to her back. Tutti Rouge, maybe you should reconsider making the cups wider as cup size increases? I can't imagine what a 28G+ would do! All that said, I am not completely in love with the shape it gives me; I feel a bit flattened out.

The Lottie disappointed me. The band was pretty tight, but the lower gore was definitely more comfortable. I took a gamble on the three-part cups because I have a Curvy Kate Tempt Me which works pretty well. The cups on the Lottie are more closed on top, so I quadboob a bit after swoop and scoop. I don't completely fill out the inside, though. It's the typical orange-in-a-glass effect. I also look a bit pointy, which isn't my favorite look. I'm not sure what shape this bra would work for. I guess maybe girls with more projected, full on bottom breasts would like this bra? That doesn't seem terribly common in my size range, so maybe Tutti Rouge can re-think the design of their plunges for future seasons to make it more shallow-breast friendly? (Please?)

I got the matching Betty brief as well in size small. It's sooo cute, though a touch big on me. I've never had a matching set before so I was excited to order one!

If you read all of this, thank you! <3 I hope it has been at least somewhat useful.

  • thatsamore this just echoes my experience of the Betty - I have a 29" ribcage and usually have no problem with 30 bands- I found the 32GG Betty to be too loose on the band but very shallow in the cups (even shallower than a CK showgirl bra) and the 32H to be a goodish fit in the cups (if minimised from the side and very wide wires is your thing) but the band was tiny! I could hardly breathe and I measured it next to a 30 band cleo I was trying at the same time to compare and found that the cleo stretched a good 2 inches more than the Betty!

From the few pictures I've seen the Lottie looks very similar to the Lilliana - and that one spent the 5 mins I had it on trying to force my boobs into my armpits coz it's so east west.

From what I've seen tutti rouge have got the potential to be a fantastic brand but not until they iron out some inconsistencies.

  • May I ask where you got them?
