Projected vs shallow - an example between 34F Millie and 32H Andorra

I have a theory in general that for narrow wires one has more vertical cup depth and for wide wires one has more horizontal cup depth.

For example; 34F - Freya » Millie (5920) horizontal cup depth 32 cm
Vertical cup depth over vertical seam 20 cm

32H - Panache » Andorra Full Cup (5675) (the white one not the pearl) same horizontal cup depth 32 cm (but since lace is stretchy the result is 34 cm)
Vertical cup depth 22 cm

We are talking about a cup difference on 3 sizes with the Andorra being above GG barrier. Millie cups almost completely fill the cups of Andorra. Wire width difference isn't more than a centimeter. And still Millie straps are one centimeter further back than the Andorra bra. Add to all this that Andorra is labelled a full cup while Millie is labelled a balconette.

So how is Andorra the bigger bra? Wires are longer and so the gore and wings are taller.

I wore the Pollyanna family in 34F for five years. How could I get away with being in such a small cup? The answer is simple; Millie allows tons of room in the gore. Tons of either projection or height in cups. I used the Millie cup depth on height instead of projection. On me that bra was spread on height. Qadboob didn't happen. (Compared to Arabella in the same size which did cut my boobs in half).

Andorra allows zero room near the gore. No room on bottom and no room on top. Millie allowed tons. Both on bottom and on top. And since the wires were so low I never felt wires on breast tissue on the sides. It wasn't until I sagged down there I needed to size up.

So what gives a bra projection? So far I know of 2 factors that obviously makes a bra project:
1. Strap postion further back
2. Vertical cup depth (near the gore)

There might be others, like possibly lower wings and gores. But I'm still not sure. I do know Andorra is more of an Avocodo A cut bra, while Millie is an H cut bra. So far all H cuts bras I've seen has always allowed tons of projection with straps further apart and A cut always been held closer to the chest with straps closer to the center. (http://www.avocado.com.pl/sklep/pl/modele.html for reference).

In reality of course Millie and Pollyanna was never shallow. They just adapted to my boob shape in the front while being terribly small in the armpit.

  • I love that the phrase "vertical depth" has taken off. That was my non-evil plan all along.

  • how are you measuring vertical cup depth near the gore? Horizontal is wire end to wire end right? Whats vertical?
