Sounds like the band is a smidge big for you. Sizing down might give you more life out of your bras, but you also might be in between sizes. In that case, you can wear bras in the bigger band on the tightest hook like you talk about here or you can wear bras in the smaller band with an extender until they stretch out a bit.
