Oh boy,am I frustrated with my body and clothes at this point.
I decided to go into Victoria's Secret while with my friend at the mall, originally not to try on bras, but to try some other clothes...Well..I decided to try some of their new 38DDD's just for the heck of it,since last time I was in there and knew nothing about bra fitting or swooping and scooping and tried mostly 36D's and the like and it was terrible.lol.I've also gained some weight since too.Of course,I know 38DDD is not my size, but wanted to try them anyways,as I said, just for fun, along with the other clothes.
So I ended up being surprised by 2 bras I tried, they were demi bras from the new Body by Victoria collection, and aside from not being the right size, extremely comfortable, they are made of this super soft fabric.I believe it is this one.

But the band is wayyyyy too big and stretchy.I had it on the tightest hook with room to spare.Plus of course the cup was too small.I would say 2-3 sizes. But as it seemed to be a good cup shape for me,that wasn't so bad.It was so comfortable I was tempted to buy it anyways, but knew after five minutes of wearing it,it would not stay put and end up not so comfortable cause of that.It looks like a 34H or 34J,or even 34JJ in that style would be perfect for me,but of course VS doesn't make anything over a triple D or E.I was thinking of getting a 40DDD sometime and trying to alter the band down to a 34 so then it would be more like a 34H since 40DDD is the sister size of 34H.
(That is,after I try an Ewa Michalak bra from a member here first, gotta budget, lol).
It's special enough for me to go to the trouble of that.Anyone have any tips for altering a band?At least I do know how to sew. :)
Also, was wondering if anyone knows of a bra that is similar in fabric and comfort in other sizes.
I may put up some photos of me in the one I tried cause I've been wanting some fitting help, too.Even though I have read tons on bra fitting, sometimes it can just be hard to figure out your own body and you need help from a different perspective.

  • Honestly, if you haven't bought the thing already, VS bras are crappy quality and overpriced, you can find something easily on figleaves or ebay for the same price but the quality is a million times better, and you won't have to do as severe and alteration because you can get at least close to the correct size, if not the correct one.

    If you have, here: http://www.venusianglow.com/2010/07/tutorial-tightening-bra-band-without.html

Here if the unstretched length is too big for you: http://hourglassy.com/2011/08/leahs-second-column-shrinking-a-bra-band/

EDIT: Also, 40DDD isn't even close to 34H in volume. It's a 34G (UK). You would be anywhere from 2 to 5 cup sizes too small if you were alter that. Please don't do this to yourself. VS bras aren't even designed to support well in larger sizes. Please do yourself a favor and find something cheap on ebay, asos, or even the Tutti Rouge marketplace on asos (one of their bras is only 39 dollars, which is pretty cheap for a brand new bra that goes up to 34HH), really, anything other than that please. Also Amazon, seriously. Try stuff on at Nordstrom. Anything other than VS. They don't even make volumes in your correct size.

  • Nope, haven't bought it,can't afford to for a while and I always think a lot before buying something anyways.
I have been looking on figleaves, but haven't found a lot that seems like it would work.I guess one of my main frustrations is that I can rarely find anywhere near my size in the US,and the ones I do find, none of them work.
I've ordered some off ebay UK,and found one that I just loved, but am now too big for,I think.Am going to try to see if they have any H cups in my size sometime,it's a discontinued style.I've tried 5-6 different styles so far,all but one from Marks and Spencer. And sometimes when I order a bra,it gets here 3 weeks later and I'm almost a cup size bigger and so then it doesn't work and I can't return.Trying to sell the ones I can't use on ebay, may put them up here instead.I guess I should be more patient as normally you need to try like 20 different styles of bras to find ones that really work, but it's frustrating and one of my friends and my mom think I'm being too picky.
I'm still figuring out my size.I think it'd be a good idea to get photos up on here for help.
    My measurements vary at times,but normally I'm around a 38-39 ribcage and 51-52" bust.I often need a 36" band cause of how stretchy bands are..with super stretchy,like modal,nylon fabrics,sometimes powermesh,I need a 34!Sometimes a 38 is good.
But...I'm not really busty?I seem to gain a lot of side armpit fat, that sounds just lovely.lol.
I still prefer to have that tissue, fat, whatever it is,inside the cups, though,it's more comfortable and looks better.
I'm 19 and was never properly fitted and bras were always awful and uncomfortable and so I rarely wore one,but now I'm to the point where going without is often uncomfortable.
I usually prefer cotton or nylon bras.
I have been considering a Tutti Rouge bra for a while, but am still confused as to which size to get, even after reading reviews. -_-
I should probably sleep on it and get photos up.
And thanks for the bra band links! Those will especially be helpful if I lose weight and go down in band but the cup still fits.
