New Wires!

Tagging @branarchist and prettyNpetite since I think you two were most interested in this!

Today, I finally had time to replace wires on my @Curvy Kate Tease Me [showgirl Collection] (SG2001).
I find Curvy Kate Showgirl wires probably the most well made wires because they are very rigid, wont warp easily and also wont stretch at all. This is great for a narrow person, and it also makes the Tempt me's more wearable, but in both Thrill me and Tease Me, the wires are too gosh darn small and poke me because of it!!

Here you can see how my bra looked before the alterations from the back: http://www.bratabase.com/browse/curvy-kate/tease-me-showgirl-collection-sg2001/28E/pictures/ (one of the pink ones and I'm the girl with the necklace). You can clearly see the wires sit on breast tissue at the gore, the side is harder to tell, but it hurts!

Here are Curvy Kate Wires: http://i519.photobucket.com/albums/u359/The_Habtamu/Alterations/3c84b19b-4c75-453b-b8da-f5fba92c436a_zpsd71649fc.jpg They are super shiny and durable :)

Here they are compared to the new wires on the bra: http://i519.photobucket.com/albums/u359/The_Habtamu/Alterations/IMG_0761_zpsfa1d332b.jpg
As you can see, the shape is a little different, but the new underwires are a little bit wider, and also a lot shorter in the center. They are also really cheap, I found them in my drawer instead of buying from bramakers website because the shipping on those were too expensive :(. Because they are poor quality, they stretch a lot and make the cups too wide for me.

Luckily, the center gore was too far apart and tall, so I was able to bring the cups closer together as you can see here: http://i519.photobucket.com/albums/u359/The_Habtamu/Alterations/IMG_0763_zps2302aafc.jpg
The gore is about an inch shorter too from where the wires were once at, and the cups are also about 1 inch closer at the bottom.

This is the bra from the front (haven't sewed the bow back on yet): http://i519.photobucket.com/albums/u359/The_Habtamu/Alterations/IMG_0762_zps686b4e61.jpg
Not too ugly right :)?

But hooray! The fit is so much better!! It no longer pokes me in the sternum and the side poking seems minimal (for now no pain, whereas before, immediate pain). The bra suits me a lot better now.
Here are the results:
http://i519.photobucket.com/albums/u359/The_Habtamu/IMG_0764_zps485ef071.jpg (yes I did actually cut away some of the lace on accident :'( )
http://i519.photobucket.com/albums/u359/The_Habtamu/IMG_0766_zpsbe847696.jpg (I had a REALLY big dinner and I look preggy cos I ate so much haha, but you can see from the side that I fill out the bra better and look more full now that more breast tissue is actually inside the cups.)

My verdict: This is not a really a difficult alteration at all, but it is quite tedious since sewing through underwire casing is time-consuming, and finger-bleeding. I made a very painful bra that fit meh to a lot more comfortable and a pretty good fit imo. It's sooo cute and I have the matching thong in which now I can wear the set :). However, I will definitely not be buying another one of these bras -.- Finding the perfect underwires are too difficult, I even have several spare pairs :(

  • Awesome! I've done this alteration kind of in reverse to put narrower wires in the Thrill Me.

  • Very nice :) Yeah the Showgirl wires seem to get infinitely wider as the sizes go up, but these ones are extremely narrow on the smaller sizes -.-
