Advice on altering a regular bra into multiway?

I wear a 28GG-H, and am pretty firmly sized out of every multiway/convertible bra on the market (except for some custom EMs, but I don't feel like dealing with their piss-poor customer service and sizing issues). I got it into my head that it should be fairly easy to take a regular moulded bra (like the Deco or Karen), remove the straps and add loops and convertible hooks to make it into a multiway. I might have to buy a cheapie convertible bra in the wrong size and cannibalize it for parts (longer straps, hooks) but otherwise it seems like a fairly straightforward alteration.

Am I missing something? Will wearing a regular bra as a multiway affect fit (ie gap like crazy if I criss cross the straps?)

Has anyone who has done this have any suggestions to offer?

  • Have you tried Curvy Kate Multiway Desire? That goes up to a J cup, it didn't work on me or Izzy but it might be worth a try.

Otherwise I don't think that's a bad idea to make your own, or at least try it on an old bra first to see how it goes? It seems like it would be more fiddly changing the hooks than anything else, let us know how it goes :)

  • I haven't tried that bra specifically, but Curvy Kate in general doesn't work for me because I have a fairly narrow root.
