Apr 27, 2013. The fitting status of my bras

I just noticed that of all the bras I have here on Bratabase, the fitting ones are:
- 30E x 3
- 30F x 2
- 28FF x 2
- 65F x 2

Still I find that my "truest size" is 28F! So the statistics don´t tell the whole truth, unfortunately. Or I´m just too much attached to the idea of 28F...

Let´s explain. Those 30Es are 2 x Pour Moi bras and Andorra plunge. The Pour Moi bras fit okay but I must wear them in the middle or the tightest hooks. I definitely would be happier in 28 band. The Andorra plunge I find runs quite tight in the band, at least when it´s new. I find it more like 28 than 30!

The 30Fs are Andorra full cup and Mimi Holliday comfort bra. The Andorra I find tight in the band. as above. For some reason I needed it up a cup "from the usual", don´t know why... Mimi Holliday bras on the other hand run very small in the cups in general and I need to wear this one in the tightest hooks.

The 28FFs are Mimi Holliday comfort bra and Panache sport. Mimi Holliday, as said above, runs small in the cups in general. The Panache sport is a weird one, because one cup size down it felt too small, but there is definitely gaping in the 28FF when I slouch even just a little bit. I don´t know...

The 65Fs are Ewa Michalak PL Eden and CH Lato. EM runs small in the bands in these models. In CHP bras I think 65E would be the right size for me, and then I must "go up a cup" for PL and CH.

I have put on Bratabase some 28F bras and all of them seem to have some slight fit issues which is enough to list them as "doesn´t fit". However, I find that 28 is usually the band size I need, and F cup is better than FF. 28FF is usually too big for me, an exeption being Mimi Holliday, which runs small in the cups. Plus I have altered some 30E bras in the band, so they fit more like 28F, like Masquerade Rhea, and I find them a good fit for me.

So I kind of see myself or my size as 28F which I have to adjust a little in some brands or models... I don´t know if you guys have the same issue?

  • I think this is fairly common. Measurements put you in one thing, but sizing/shape/construction/bodily peculiarities put you in another -- as we all know there's much more to bra fitting than just the combination of underbust and full-bust measurement (seriously, why isn't breast perimeter used, for example, instead of or in addition to the overly simplified and highly problematic full-bust measurement? It doesn't seem to make any sense to me).

  • In a world with so much sizing inconsistencies in only one brands models, let alone between diffent brands, "one true bra size" you speek of sounds like an utopia.
