Another stupid question

I absolutely feel like I should know the answer to this question. A quick search didn't help, but maybe one of you wouldn't mind?

What exactly is meant by an "altered" bra? When measuring a bra that was ordered with customizations, should I mark this as "altered"? Or is it only bras that I have taken to the sewing machine myself? Example: ordering a Comexim with an overlapping gore. The original/non-customized didn't have that, so it has been altered, but I didn't do it, so it hasn't been.

Edit: Removed follow up question

  • If only the band has been altered, you can check the box next to the band measurement and that's all.

And yes, I believe Comexims which have had cup customizations should be marked as altered. I do, anyway. People will still be able to see your measurements if they look at all the measurements for that bra but your measurements won't be included in the average, unless I'm mistaken.

  • Custom bra modifications are complex to keep track of. The initial idea with altered bras were to track if you altered the bra manually.

In an ideal scenario we would have a field per each alteration you can make to the bra and accordingly only remove the affected measurements from the calculations. In reality we only have one for the band and another for the bra in general. If you mark your band as altered, only the band related measurements are excluded. The rest are considered. The other "bra in general" alteration will remove the full bra from averages, but its data is still used for your personal calculations.

I guess this is a topic for "advanced" users, if the customization your bra has affects any of the tracked measurements it should be marked as modified.

I always have to think of the large number of users that are not as bra savvy and are not contemplating alterations, or customization and just know about "buying bras". Adding more options is overwhelming, even more so than this site currently is since I keep hearing about people "not getting it", and adding advanced modes here and there and elsewhere adds maintenance complexity :-/
