Band was to tight and cup shape didn't fit
Original problem
After trying the Cleo Maddie I went for an unpadded bra in the Cleo Kali. The fit is better then the Maddie but the top is a tad loose and doesn't fill in fully in the 32dd. The straps dig into my armpit as well. The band fits ok and I can fill in the bottom just fine. I also think I get a slight cone shape in this and wonder if the straps being too wide cause this.
Any suggestions on where to go next or what to try?

I really think the band runs small in this Kali. I measured the stretched band several times and can only get 28-29 without stretching beyond normal amount. I know normal amount is diff for everyone so maybe I need to try a 34 c or d for a better fit.

helpfulI would give up on the Kali. Does it feel as though the underwires are sitting on breast tissue on the outside? It looks as though they are. I have wider roots too and I know I pretty much gave up on Cleo because so few models have wires wide enough for me. I have somewhat narrow shoulders and I find Cleo straps to be too wide set for me as well.
The band looks OK, it's up to you as to whether it feels too tight or not. I just don't think sizing up in the band is going to help you. The bratabase measurements for 34D say the stretched band is 35" - that seems like it might be way too loose for you. Cup depth is 8.6 which matches your laying breast perimeter but the cup width is still only 5.1". wendybien suggested when you asked for fitting help with the Panache Idina Plunge that you look for cup width close 6" in your size. A quick way to do that here in BBase is to find a brand you're interested in, then on the brand page click on "size range". From the size range page click on your size (32D or 32DD most likely), select "measurements", then select "cup width" from the dropdown menu. You can see with widths of the cups in all models in your size that have measurements recorded.
One bra I tried that has wide cups was Chantelle Revele Moi. I think that model might flatter you. The straps are not set wide either. I found it very comfortable while it fitted me.
Another brand you could look into is b.tempt'd by Wacoal. They seem to have wider cups. Natori cups are usually wide too.

I tried some bras on at Nordstrom s today. I found that a lot of the chantelle line flatter me the best. I loooovvvee the fit chantelle merci demi. I ended up fitting in a 32e (dd in US size) but I wish they had it in nude. I had to order the black so I'll get good photos and measurements when it arrives. I also got the chantelle merci spacer in 32d but I couldn't decide if it fit better then the 32dd. The others that fit well were wacoal lace finesse 32e, chantelle vous et mois 32d and chantelle parisian 30dd. Although I do think most chantelle run large in the band and I wanted to try most of these in a 30 but Nordstrom didn't carry any.
I think I do best in high center gore bras too. I set out thinking wider cups would help but the chantelle merci demi is only 5 inches wide but 8.8 inches deep. So after the whole swoop and scoop it fits really well.

This is a really tight band for a 32. I agree that in this case, you may need a 34D, but I'm not convinced this is the best bra for you. I think the 32DD fits better than the 32D for sure. You may have better luck with Curvy Kate's newer short-root-friendly styles like Ellace or Florence. I'd try 32DD's in those. They are slightly narrower in the wires and should have a bit more depth at the underwire. The bands are also more TTS and they give a lovely rounded shape like Cleo is known for.
